Personally I would never go this far with "what I want to know" before buying a game, but I do want a fair amount of information before making that purchasing decision. The mere fact that Bioware's making it and that it has "Mass Effect" in the title isn't enough to sell me.

They don't need to tell me the plot, but they need to convince me the plot is going to be compelling.

They don't need to show me each character arc, but they need to convince me those characters are going to be engaging.

That second one is easier than the first, admittedly.

Just orange, yellow and purple! :3

I'd be down for a purple ending.

You'd never see it. Would be too sneaky.

Well, I certainly don't want to spoil myself but I am going to wait for the opinion of some trusted sources before I buy the game. Depending on their statements and on what the DLC policy is going to be, I'll decide whether I'll get the game shortly after release or if I'll wait for a budget price. The days of pre-ordering because of the name "Mass Effect" are past, I am sorry to say.

Chris Schlerf is the Lead Writer.

My mistake. My point still stands though. Creative Director is just as bad - maybe even worse.

I'd like to have teal myself. Why? Simply because it's my fav color :P

I agree in the sense that I will wait until after the game is launched and patched and when it's on sale.... say, 3-6 months.

Bio Montreal can thank Bio Emonton for my attitude.

Pre-order. Mac isn't going to give us Red, Blue, and Green a second time.

Instead we'll probably get Yellow, Purple and White probably.

Yeah, I agree with the OP (at least on the principal of taking a look at real gameplay footage (from other players - not Bioware/EA) etc. first!)

Pre-Ordering? - No way, sorry...I've been burned 3 times now by Bioware (Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition - because while they are all pretty ok games (if you don't focus on their faults - like the ending of ME3, the wave-spawning and re-used dungeons etc. etc. in DA2 and the emptiness of the world and the flat/boring story in DA:I), they don't live up to what I expect from Bioware (what I know them to be capable of!)), so I am not giving them that chance again (unless they manage to "redeem" themselves in my eyes (meaning the game has to be just as good as ME1/2, DA:O and KOTOR - so yes, the new Mass Effect has a lot to live up to!), I might never pre-order another Bioware game (note: Unless they manage to pull the rug from beneath me - again!))

greetings LAX

You see... In Theory, I disagree with OP's Sentiment. But then again, I am a weak Man and spoil myself over every Outcome as soon as that Information is available. Will still Preorder, though.

After being most anticipated game of the year ME3 landed for me as most disappointing (Literally game makes me sick not fun. I don't like plot, game play, interactions with romance options, silly multi-player, character design/animation, unfulfilled bioware promises about the importance of making decisions and ofc the ending. (its playable now after serious modding)

I think Bioware should hand ME:A for free to owners of original ME trilogy as kind of atonement for what they have done in ME3.

And ofc I'm going to be very careful before I spend my money on next ME product

The ending of ME3 didn't bother me.., yes it could of been better, but the ME games have all been pleasurable to play. I will DEFINATELY be pre ordering. I have bought heaps of games over the years that I haven't enjoyed for one reason or another..., but I don't believe MEA will be one of them.

Already looking forward to what EA does with the story line. I play for fun.

Cheers

The gameplay and graphics I am not at all concerned about in the least, I mean its Bioware, but after ME3 I am not going to be negative but I am going to be very cautions of this new title. I am not worried about having stuff spoiled if I am going to spend my time and money on another ME game after what happened with ME3 I am going to make sure its worth it. Trailers and screenshots are great and all, they are meant to grab your attention, but lets look at the big picture here.

What about you guys?

Sure, feel free to do that.

But if you're going to youtube everything before you even consider buying the game, you'll essentially spoil yourself for every plot twist, character arch and development and the overall story before you ever pick up a controller, and thus don't have the option of actually making the choices presented in game and probably ruin the overall experience.

It would probably be wiser to get player reviews from players who generally share your same view on what they like or dislike about a game without getting the spoilers that comes with youtube.

I find my playthrough of a game is MUCH more enjoyable if I don't know what happens. For example, I went on a media blackout before Inquisition came out and refused to look up any more information on it because I did not want to be spoiled in any way. The result was me standing up going "Corypheus!!!" when he attacked Haven, and that battle had a considerably larger impact on me as a gamer who's been playing every Dragon Age game and all the DLC, and thus I knew exactly who he was from Legacy in DA2, and a much greater appreciation for Cassandra and Varric as companions.

It enhanced my experience in playing it, an enhancement that would have been sorely lacking if I knew all the details before I even picked up a controller.

Preordering because despite the furor over the ME3 endings, I was in the minority that was largely okay with how things played out (except for minor quibbles). At least I know that it's highly unlikely that ME:A will be as much of a mess as the PC version of Arkham Knight is (I have a physical copy of the game, one which is currently going uninstalled and unplayed until WB and Rocksteady manage to fix it).

When big editions are announced I tend to go forth and put 5 or 10 bucks on it, I missed the boat with Fallout 4(because quite frankly that pipboy toy looks stupid, but even then I could have resold it for big money to some kid stealing his moms credit card) and if BioWare do something along that line(which IIRC they've not done yet) I will put a few bucks on it.  I can always resell the toys later and buy a digital copy over Origin(so ugh, so so ugh, what I would give for EA to scrap Origin in the next two years so I can get Mass Effect on GOG)
