It's unbelievable. They lump phrases like "melting pot" and "land of opportunity" in with blatantly racist things that almost nobody anymore. Not to mention how they criminalize certain viewpoints and presume that race and gender are factors in EVERYTHING. The best part, though, is how not being sexist or racist now makes you sexist or racist.

As hilariously stupid as that PDF is, I feel like my life was better before I realized that people legitimately believe these sorts of things are racist and/or sexist.

These people exist to troll. That's what their entire existence is based around - to rile people up in order to challenge the status quo, get a rise out of folks and get attention.

Do you know why Anita Saarkesian is so widely known, while actual credible feminist scholars aren't? It's not because of the number of her fans... it's the number of her detractors. Everytime you complain about an outlandish comment, link a ridiculous video or post their nonsense statements, you exponentially increase that person's exposure.

Why be accurate and rational when there's money and fame to be had being over the top ridiculous? Don't play into their game by complaining about them or starting threads about their rants. It's exactly what they want. <this is directed to everyone here, not you Cyonan directly>

Ignoring them works better. And it's not just the likes of Anita Sarkeesian. I'd throw Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Shaun Hannity into that lot before Sarkeessian, even if I think she's a fame-monger looking to make a name for herself.

I'll go ahead and say it. I'm nuanced and subtle, but I am also biased. In general, I think progressive and liberal talking heads, for whatever its worth, are better and more credible than those who are strongly conservative or libertarian.

Errr it was more to do with the progressive left-wing nut jobs pushing her into every article they could and saying "loook! she says you're all disgusting, sexist, misogynistic bastards and the games you are playing are offensive, look how morally superior I am to you by agreeing with her you cis-scum" Over, and over and over again.  

 

That's what tends to happen when people are poked and prodded enough by the talentless hacks in the gaming press.

The hacks and click bait artists are doing just that - mining for clicks. They aren't qualified, credible journalists, nor do they link and support qualified, credible advocates of the topic at hand. They are wild sensationalists who earn money by vocally supporting other wild sensationalists. And usually always by using material designed to generate just as much hate, ire, skepticism and criticism as it is positive praise. Which only feeds into the mania more, causing more to jump on the bandwagon.

I've probably read or seen more articles devoted or written by Antia than I have the GG crew. Is it because I support one more than the other? No... it's because people complain about Anita more... and do so by linking every appearance she makes and every video she posts.

People shouldn't be asking "who seriously watches this stuff" when looking at her content. Because the answer is "you."
