Longsword is pretty damn amazing though. Basically the ultimate legionnaire weapon. I salvaged my caliban shortly after getting it.

True. Especially since the weapon can apply the upgraded effects if you have them. My Templar also liked her 10+k wombo combos on NM.

Are you sure about that one? I read a thread the other day saying the opposite.

It would have to be something they changed recently or unique to the new weapons as older weapons did not apply upgraded versions of powers historically.

Only heard it from a friend (who played with the weapon in the beta), so take it with a grain of salt. I can test it when I get home.

I heard that you could only have one of each in beta. Did they change that?

It was supposed to be closer to 1% and higher odds of dragon weapons than perilous but the datapush for that got wiped on Monday so it's currently around 5%. I was planning on rectifying that on Friday but given the concerns in this thread I may come up with a better solution related to item level + whether you have one of the weapons yet.

:crying: I'll never have any of these, because BioWare are a bunch of meanies...isn't sucking punishment enough, you have to withhold the shinies, too?  :crying:

Maybe by the time Dragon Age: 17 comes out (aka "We're Still Making These?"), I will finally be able to play a nightmare match...maybe  :P

We need something finesse in here really, because rng in general sucks.
I remember dragon weapon hunt when I had 10 Dragon Staffs and still no hammer (and 23 in general dragon weapons). Like wut what that rng gods.
If I would get duplicate after hundreds of runs I would be angry. Very angry.

Well if it becomes 1% you should definitely consider making the chance increase with 1% for each NM dragon killed, and reset it once you get a weapon, just like the ability "Unforgiving Chain". That way people would be guaranteed a weapon eventually. It would also make 'wasted' runs feel more satisfying.

1 run: 1%

2 run: 1%+1%

3 run: 2%+1%

23 run: 22+1%

24 run: YAH WEAPON!!

25 run: 1%

26 run: 1%+1%

ect...

You can only get one of each hakkon weapons (except dagger, bug) so this makes it much faster

The way it works right now is fine (if 5%), considering you can only get one of each hakkon weapons. I think people were complaining about dragon weapons because they kept getting duplicates instead of uniques

From the point of someone who got lucky and have whatever amount of it maybe it works.

I don't get this idea of "best in slot", "ultimate goal". We though that dragon weapons are also "best". Now you can get them from stupid chest, I've even got few when buying after patch (like freaking hammer for which I wasted like 50 runs).

What if I waste another 100 runs, 200 runs of whatever amount to get weapon I don't even want that much (like dagger or sword) and after that we got some new DLC (and we all know there will be probably not only one) with new shines and those "hakkon" will be just in generic chest?
I would be angry. That's why I want more fair approach, kmeeg idea is what I like. Unlucky streaks should be reduced.

Majority, like pretty much 95% of player base has not problem with even loot, but with just getting to the dragon. For NM you need good team composition (pretty much mages + reaver and Avvars, everything else sucks), barrier bot and knowledge + cordination for spawn blocking (for now, Luke would change it).
Pugs don't have it. Pug would take best kit he thinks he has, some AW or other ele and end up when very lucky with 1h run.
To get white dirk. 100 times in row.
If you want to treat those players who struggle but want to fight with NM dragon and with problems but still can kill it with some low chances of drop you are just an selfish really.
I don't want to end up in community in which only 100 ppl from top 100 got something to do.

So what's the point of playing fc perilious anymore when dragon weapons are dropping frequently from store chests and NM is out of reach for the majority of the player base since most don't have the patience to grind a minimum of an hour for each run (that's if you don't wipe in zone 3 or 4) don't have the necessary gear/promotions and composition?

I feel its too low.  I've killed a lot of dragons.  I think the suggestion about starting with a low percentage and it gradually increases until you get one is a great idea.  At this point...at least with my personal drop rate it feels more like a job.

I love the fact they are not common.  Dragon weapons were way too high and literally everyone has them.  I really appreciate what was done with these hakkon weapons.  I just think its a bit too rare.

It's very rare but once again rng rears its ugly head, because a player with less than 400 prestige and less chests opened can score a hakkon weapon while someone with 2 or 3x that won't be so fortunate. This happened today actually after a successful run in nightmare when a pug on my team scored the hakkon sword with less than 500 hours put into damp, and this was his first try in NM.

I like FC still because all of its areas are gigantic open wide turkey shoots and because it is substantially more difficult to wipe on dragon than on regular faction commanders. But then again, I play exclusively the matchmaking roulette, so its probably different for organized groups.

The weapons should be rare, but I think they are too rare.  I feel like I have killed a lot of dragons and I don't have much to show for it.  I like the cumulative % chance.  I think that is a great idea.

I don't want Hakkon weapons to be like dragon weapons where everyone and their brother has them, but I want to get them without having to do a ton of runs.

You should be able to get more than 1 of each weapon type if wavebend is correct in that.  I don't like that at all.

On a related note, can we ever view our item level somewhere?  Dragon age HQ could use a little more use  ;)

I've just got the Longsword, freaking beautiful and awesome. Walking Fortress triggers so damn often.

Only missing the dagger now, though I see myself playing in this grinding setup for weeks to come, since most people I know still need many or all Hakkon weapons.

I've been running with ThatBruhYouDK and am now willing to retract my previous statements on how the system is currently fair. He has done about 30+ runs and yet hasn't received a single Hakkon weapon. Since the system is completely RNG-based (and there's no way to fix that without a complete rework), a system that counts how many weapons you already have could definitely work, by making the drop rate smaller with every weapon acquired.

I had something like this in mind:

  1. Global drop rate = 10%
  2. If the player completes a run and falls into the 10% rate, then do a secondary check:
  3. Roll a dice with (100 - 20*x)% probability to award a Hakkon weapon, where x is the amount of Hakkon weapons owned by the player.

This would make the weapons incrementally harder to acquire, especially the fifth one with a 2% chance, but would benefit those who don't have any.
