Not by our hands, no.
You have to make a dedicated decision to let him be executed. You can also kick out Cole and Sera, so it isn't as though DA:I was devoid of companion removal options.

Dorian can leave too but its rather complicated.
You have to side with Templars, but first you have to go to Redcliff and meet Dorian and tell him you will help, but go back to Templars.
Then you just have to be a jerk to him all game, near the end you can punch him and then he pretty much decides to leave, you have to option to stop him, but you can let him go as well.

Yes, but that isn't actively killing him. And I didn't say DA:I was devoid of companion removal options.
What?
Well, given prevailing trends – from Baldur’s Gate in BioWare’s first cRPG,by way of Denerim in DA:O to Val Royeaux in DA:I – BioWarian cities tend to get smaller, not larger.
I predict a fancy outhouse in ‘Grimdark Neo-Gothic style’ for Minrathous. No guarantee whether there’s going to be a convincing, impressive ‘fantasy megacity skybox’. That will probably depend on how much money will swallowed up by the new, improved oculariums in DA4.

On the other hand, having somewhat dynamic NPC’s should be doable, with several different-looking NPC extras constantly entering and leaving the outhouse, following sensible, believable NPC schedules and having appropriate, good-quality voice acting. It’s going to be the most dynamic, convincing Grimdark Neo-Gothic outhouse in any cRPG evar.
And look, it’s even got a ‘Moon door’. Sort of.
All levity aside, I think Bio's first priority is to get their 'rural / wilderness areas' right. While they looked pretty in DA:I, they were also boring and relatively lifeless. Let them start with doing that and creating some good villages.
Trying to equal or even outdo Novigrad is a bit of a large step, certainly given Bio's past record with cities and the fact that CDPR had two games with smaller, but convincing and lively settlements before they were 'ready' for Novigrad. Not to mention the fact that they probably had considerable input from ex-Reality Pump employees, who were responsible for Cheznaddar-Hatmandor in Two Worlds II, probably the best cRPG city before Novigrad.
There's also the problem of pathfinding with a party of companion characters, which is not a minor thing I suspect.
I totally agree with the OP. The next game should definitely feature Minrathous, if not mainly at least as an important place within the game. I would love to explore it's old ancient streets and rich culture. Val Royeax was disappointing, it felt not so much as a city but more like a strip mall/generic outdoor plaza, so If they do feature Minrathous I would hope they would make it a more living breathing city like Kirkwall with less repetitive environments and more people to interact with.

Ditto!
I was so disappointed with VR, though the NPC's like Josie and Viv had some gorgeous cut scenes in the same tilesets. I wish we had gotten more of those environments to explore or play with, perhaps even like the Mass Effect apartment DLC's where you get a private villa or estate?
That being said, I think we got to see some BEAUTIFUL parts of Orlais, and the Chateau D'Onterre was probably one of the most memorable parts of the game along with Halamshiral. If we get to travel to Tevinter, Minrathous and the outskirts would be a nice way to sample the Imperium.

I missed those scenes with Josie and Viv but that sounds like what I thought would happen with Val Royeax. I just kinda assumed since it's considered the cultural center of southern Thedas there would be some epic gorgeous cutscene scenery action or something. More private environments would have been nice. Something like the ME apt dlc would have been fun, Skyhold could have had some elements of that imo. I was hoping there would be some snooty Orlesian wine bar version of the Hanged Man, where you can order drinks, interact with npcs, get quests, etc.
I kept trying to jump up on balconies in Val Royaux and peek through windows. I echo the disappointment. I was so excited for the ball, too, then discovered I had to run through it as fast as possible and wear ugly clothes. ![]()

lol at your inquisitor jumping on balconies. The ball was not as much fun as I hoped too.
Qunari Inquisitor for the win! And if they include Minrathous, I'm sure it's gonna be chaotic given what's happening between them.
To kind of go along with the possibility of Minrathous, I think the warden should comeback especially after the references made from DA;I. Though it might difficult DA;I should keep people occupied enough to wait for anything relating to the next game.

I agree. I hope that DA4 will not only take place in Tevinter but in the Anderfels as well. A similar split as seen with Ferelden and Orlais in Inquisition. If I recall, The Anderfels are Tevinter's immediate neighbor to the west. There have been way too many 'behind the scenes' events going on with the Wardens and THE Warden for them to remain on the sidelines for another game.

I doubt the Warden will ever actually show up again. There are too many problems involved, like them being a silent protagonist and possibly die in Origins.

More than likely, Inquisition is setting up the Warden to be totally detached from the order in the search for the cure. I suspect that this character will simply retire and disappear as a result (which would be my preference honestly).

Ha! I actually tried to do the same. ![]()
I hated the nutcracker costume, I felt like my Inquisitor is about to join a parade blowing a trumpet. So yes, a much MUCH bigger Minrathous and real costumes. ![]()
The other thing I don't like about all slave backgrounds is it instantly puts bias against Tevinter...
When more than likely, we'll be exploring the Qunari in a game like that too. A newcomer to the series will be under the impression that they are defacto "good guys", just because they fight against the people who enslaved them.
Well, who else would be the good guys?
The ones performing human sacrifices in order to fuel their own power?
The ones who brain-bleach people into pre-sapience and use them as laborers, then?
If you think there is a good guy between Tevinter and the Qunari, you haven't been paying attention.

What about sacrificing bad guys to fuel magic that will save a greater number of people? Is it better to just kill enemies and not use their blood?
Also, why any mage, barring one as privileged as Vivienne, would choose to remain in Southern Thedas is beyond me. Now that there's a three-mage rule for the Dalish, Tevinter is looking pretty good, even for an elf.

Because Tevinter is just as much of a shithole? Seriously, it's not like you walk into Minrathous and they shower you with money and virgins because you wear a dress and shoot sparkles out of your ass. The system is designed to elevate a handful of mages, not all of them.
