I've been playing Reaver lately. There is an upgrade to Warhorn that's listed as bonus 1200% damage to guard, with no weapon damage listed. Tried it out against every enemy. I can get up to 25k damage vs guard, wiping out most of the High Dragon's guard on NM and most regular mooks guard on HB (when they don't have barrier up). Brutes and Pride demons both lose their guard and become panicked, completely vulnerable to attack -- DD/RD and almost every basic enemy is weak to panic as well.

I just played a HB game and solo'd zone one. Zone 2 is more difficult, and will require a team with CC to effectively kill the mages, but the fact I can solo and do it quickly with Reaver really rocks.

In short WH rules because it clears the primary obstacles in NM and HB: Enemy guard, and incapacitates difficult enemies long enough to kill them.

Example here:

I will have to play with some reavers before I believe they can do the job at super high levels without significant help.  They have always been the primo damage dealer but one slip and you are on your ass.

Depends on stats.

I have seen a few players switch HC for WH on the Avvar when playing NM. It seems to work really well.

the problem with taking warhorn is that healing with dragon rage isn't fantastic and there is no on demand healing as you need to drop devour. Thoughts on combat styles or tweaks to builds or equipment loadout ?

there has been a recent change with patch 1.09, read it on the stickie but Reavers get 2% heal on hit so DR cost is reduced. Also if you have flow of battle WH gives you criticals to reduce cooldown to Rampage to help further heal. There are some good build guides for the Reaver not sure if they have been updated but take a look through them they have good advices.

Quick tip so your video quality doesn't suck: Run the file through handbrake at a constant locked FPS. Recording at 60 FPS sucks unless you can maintain a solid 60fps, which you can't as evidenced by fuzzing.

Rampage --> Warhorn --> Full heal plus panic synergy with deathblow , automatic critical hits, crippling blows, critical bonus damage gear and flow of battle cooldown --> Rampage and Warhorn is back up again.

Last night we ran a 2 x Reaver + Virtouso + Ele on NM FC. War Horn was taking approx 1/3 of Dragons Guard. My Reaver was lvl 20 with Dragon Maul and 49 Willpower. 2 x Reaver was able to remove all dragon guard in under 5 seconds.

For those wondering how strong Reaver is on NM;
In between being barrierd I was able to easily solo mobs without help. My life total yo-yo'd a fair bit but I only ever got caught out vs multiple despairs, shadows, and big Mage mines. I had 21% HoK + 2% HoH but never auto attack. Rampage -> War Horn often healed me to full.

Personally I would not attempt NM without a barrier bot as I don't see the point in risking dying when there's prizes on offer, especially after BLuke mentioned drop rate is only 5% and may be nurfed asap.

With Barrier (or even ALKM vs non demons) she's a Red Wrecking Ball of Doom

Duelist is underwhelming in NM. I thought she would fare better since she was op in perilous but bolt and broadsides just don't kill mooks with high armor ratings fast enough thus they become stamina drainers for her. I do believe reaver is the one of the best classes in NM, because of the massive burst dps and spammability of dragon rage, and the power of war horn makes zones go by faster and smoother.

Bah, North America existed long before any humans ever set foot in it. But shield bash? That was lovingly crafted. The golden glow on the lunge to close distance? The cracked glass effect as the shield smashes into the hapless mook? The hilarious ragdoll effects? Glorious! :)

OT: yes, Warhorn also rocks.

That's great until

  • You get demons which have no guard except pride demons
  • Your cunning and crit rings render auto-crit on fear irrelevant
  • Your willpower and maul of the dragon are high enough to rip through guard regardless
  • Shield-breaker on the bottom of the mighty blow tree

No thanks, I'll stick to my pure Bloodlust build.

Noobs will stay noobs. For everyone else, don't be like this guy.

NM + HB has 4+ Pride demons at once.

There's about a dozen people with 200+ cunning at most. Everyone else doesn't. Otherwise, just skip deathblow. Warhorn is still required to get Flow of Battle, and remains awesome.

Willpower? LOL No.

WTF uses shield breaker? Yeah, you're an idiot.

Just because he uses different skills than you and accidentally called Guard Smasher by a different name makes him a noob?  What will you call me if I tell you I prefer not to use War Horn either?

You don't need 200 cunning to get auto-crits with a Reaver without War Horn, just Terrifying Fury and some cunning.

I started watching your video, skipped to somewhere in the middle and watched you use the first 5 War Horns of zone 3 on either enemies that cannot be panicked or only one enemy (or sometimes even a single enemy that cannot be panicked).  You panicked two enemy in those first 5 War Horns.  I saw you completely destroy a Brute's guard with a single Dragon Rage; no War Horn necessary.

No thanks, I'll stick to my build.

No worries on this one. As far as I'm concerned this was the entire point of the upgrade for warhorn so I'm glad it's actually useful now :)
