So, I was templaring about with Badgerlad in perilous, and was trying to get better xp with shield wall. I spent as much time as possible either blocking or shield wall attack cancelling. Very few wombo combos used, and roughly the same number in each run. I spent zone 5 holding up shield wall as much as possible. The XP varied from about 4k to 9k.

Obviously this was far from scientific, so I was wondering if anyone else had noticed and/or properly tested this, or was it purely down to the fact that I must have blocked more in the high xp runs without realising it? Do any other factors play into block xp, eg level of creature blocked etc?

Did you take into account those changes around guard giving support xp (I've heard something about this on forum)?

Block xp is easy to test. Just pay attention to the support xp you get for blocking one attack after the monster is dead. A couple of months ago it was a constant amount based on the xp you would get for the kill, roughly almost triple the kill xp.

I believe that turned out to be taunt generating support XP, rather than damage to guard iirc?

Either way, I have a sneaking suspicion it was just the amount of blocking I did varying, too many variables that I did not control like how quickly other people were killing things that I was blocking against.

Good point, and simple enough to test on a solo run.

Yeah I made a thread about it but after playing more and keeping an eye on the xp amounts it seems like that's not the case. I got support xp from a wraith even though I hadn't blocked an attack from it. So I'm thinking shield wall grants support xp for all damage taken while it's up, whether or not the attacks are actually blocked.

So my strategy of walking around zone 5 slowly with my shield up while my minions teammates kill everything is sound? Perfect.

Would have worked better if the Zither! hadn't had to scrape you (and me, but we're not talking about me) off the floor during one of the test runs.

To be fair, I went down once in zone 5 pretty much every single time. The plan is still sound! Rez me pls.

Seriously tho, dat Zither. Level 1, solo'd quite a bit of zone 5 and rezzed both of us. I can't remember his name, so I'll call him Ace Rimmer. What a guy
