This sounds a lot like those Liara in Andromeda and Tali in Andromeda threads we've seen, and yes, I know that ME:A is completely divorced from the Shepard Trilogy and the possibility of Miss Lawson dying in ME3 means that the odds of seeing her in ME:A are zilch, anyway, but please hear me out. This is less a theory of Miranda being in ME:A and more something that could see her being on the Ark.

So, I've been thinking about how the writers could have a way to include her in some manner, perhaps even doing some work on the Ark if she didn't die. (Hell, even if she did die in your playthrough, it's not as if a silly little thing like death is gonna keep Bioware's writers from including a character, is it?)

Specifically, I've been thinking about the final conversation Shepard has with Miranda on Earth, during the final battle.

Romance version

M: "Shepard...good to see you. Hope you don't mind me crashing this little party of yours."

S: "Not at all. Feeling better?"

M: "Much. Got a few sideways looks from Alliance brass when I offered to help, but they can't be choosy at this point."

S: "I'm glad you made it."

M: "Shepard...I wanted to say goodbye."

S: "What do you mean?"

M: "If we both come back from this at all, everything...will be different."

S: "Sure, everything will change--but on our terms. We've been running until now, Miranda. It has to stop."

M: "I understand. I just... I wish I was there. With you."

S: "Me too."

M: "I don't know what to say."

S: "Don't say goodbye."

M: "Then finish this, Shepard. And find me."

S: "I will. I promise."

Non-romance version

M: "Commander.

S: "Goodbye?"

M: "If we both come back from this at all, everything...will be different."

S: "Sure, everything will change--but on our terms. We've been running until now, Miranda. It has to stop."

M: "I understand."

S: "This isn't goodbye. You have to believe we're not done yet."

M: "Listening to you...I can believe it."

S: "Good. And Miranda?"

M: "Yes?"

S: "Be careful."

M: "I promise. And you too, Shepard."

Now, this conversation takes place via a QEC so Miranda could literally be anywhere in the Galaxy. Sure, she could be in London or somewhere else on Earth but there's nothing in either conversation that implies that she is. We should also remember that Miranda isn't a soldier and although she is a powerful biotic and all-round ass kicker one extra body isn't going to make a difference in a ground war against something like Reapers. And unless they're all a bunch of idiots, one would assume that the Alliance brass would recognise that. No, her true strengths lie with her intelligence and her experience in working with secret projects. Kinda like the Ark is presumed to be, no? Besides, she brought a charred lump of meat back to life! Working out the logistics of something like a intergalactic vessel should be a cakewalk compared to resurrection, right?

Also, there's this:

"Shepard...I wanted to say goodbye."

Out of all of Shepard's squad members, Miranda is the only one who says goodbye. Everyone else is like "Let's kick ass!" and "It's been an honour!" Okay, granted, Samara says "Farewell" but she says it like she's going to see Shepard again after the battle is done. Miranda's "I wanted to say goodbye," and the almost sad way she said it seems a lot more...final, I guess. Like she was leaving.

Okay, admittedly this next part may be the weakest link to my theory, but here we go!

So in their final conversation, Miranda says "Then finish this, Shepard. And find me" in the romanced version and "Listening to you...I can believe it" in the non-romanced version. That to me sounds like she is staying where she is and waiting for the war to end. I grant that. But is Miranda really the kind of person who waits? I don't think so. And we should also remember that when the whole of the Hammer Squad was destroyed by Harbinger it was also presumed by the rest of the fleet that Shepard had perished also, and it wasn't until some time later when Hackett received word that stated otherwise.

But I would assume that the people who were working on the Ark would want to know if their hard work was for nothing or not, so I doubt that they would have worked in ignorance. They could have received (erroneous) news that Shepard had died and the entire Hammer Squad was wiped out, and Miranda, if she was working on the Ark could have ordered the ship to launch (before receiving an update stating Shepard was alive, depending on how long it took to receive it), seeing no reason to remain seeing as from her perspective the assault had failed.

And weak link done.

Also, if I may add, Miranda is the only one whose current whereabouts are truly unknown. Based on their final conversations, Kasumi is with the Crucible and the rest pf the squad members are either in London or somewhere else on Earth, killing Reapers. No mention is ever made as to where Miranda was when all this was going on, and like I said; thanks to the conversation with her taking place via QEC she could literally be anywhere in the galaxy.

That's what I got. Personally, I believe that if the writers are clever about it, they could bring Miranda into Andromeda. She just may be the only one who can be brought in. But again, I realise that the odds of seeing her or any of the others in ME:A are zero for the above reasons, but I just thought I'd share anyway.

What do you think?

I'm game to.

I don't think they will do it, but Miranda is the best choice imo.

I always wished there was a dialogue option to agree with the asari eclipse captain at the end of the loyalty mission.

Back to the opening post. Yeah i found Miranda´s text really odd but she´s probably a bit more fatalistic or honest than the rest.

But you raise an interesting question with the QEC communication. Isn´t the range on this unlimited? No I don´t mean that Miranda is already in Andromeda but the expedition should have a few of these to keep in contact with the Milky Way which would be counterproductive to BW´s intention to leave the old setting behind. Ah well, could be that the comm station in the Milkyway had a Reaper visit after they left.

And at the end of the day, Miranda still kicked that Asari's butt to didn't she? Serves her right.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

If "the Ark" hadn't even left at that point, why would it go? They can wait another hour to see if they even have to leave on a perilous and uncertain journey. Although granted, there are a lot of holes in why the Ark can't just stop and turn around before it has gone 0.0001% of the way after shepard destroys the Reapers, even if it left months ago. But throwing in more difficult to explain additions for no particular good reason, doesn't help.

I realise I sound a bit harsh. I do actually think it is an interesting piece of dialogue, and we don't exactly know how we get to Andromeda yet. But Ark theory discussions tend to get on my nerves, and yet I can't stop reading them.

Miranda had nothing to do with that Eclipse captain's defeat in my game.

Of course she did (with help) but it´s still a silly outfit. -_- But seems to be a common fashion trend in the 22th century.

I don't care. The person who defeated the Eclipse captain was Shepard, not Miranda.

To each their own I guess.

Like the pictures I posted above. Women have been kicking butt and looking sexy at the same time for a long while now, WAY before Miranda entered the scene in 2010.

I'm more than willing to bet that they left like a month even before the Reapers even get there.  That way even if the reapers did win, they would still have to sort through all that data to find when the ship actually left and what direction the ship was headed.  And plus, it'd give them a nice head start.

Except nowhere in the story does it say "Miranda was the one who defeated the Eclipse captain".  So really gameplay/story segregation is a moot point.

No, I just don't want her around. Didn't like her enough to wish for her return.
