What's disrespectful is treating the 1000+ gay soldiers who fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima as second class citizens for the last 70 years. If any of them still survive, I suggest you ask them how they feel about it. Don't hide your bigotry behind false outrage about a war you had nothing to do with.
Treated as "second class" citizens? In a time when racial segregation was still the norm? No, they really weren't. If I could ask any I bet they'd also find activists using such an image to be a tasteless PR stunt, but I suppose that would also make them guilty of "bigotry" too by your own twisted standards.

Did this symbolic juxtaposition... trigger you?
Did some one say triggers?

On a related note, I got two PMs about this thread saying my posts have been removed for being offensive, but either I'm going senile or they're all still here.
I have modified the one in case another mod wants to swing by and ban me for 'reposting' it or something, lol.
Wah? Hows that work but "Tyrannosaurs Reich" is just fine to post.
Aww sweet, Voltron!

I knew a few old gay vets who sadly died. They would have loved to see this day and that flag. I'm guessing you know/knew zero.
Segregation's a separate issue that was largely resolved (legally speaking) with the introduction of the Fourteenth Amendment to provide equal protection under the law. These protections hadn't been extended to gay people until the SCOTUS decision and even then it's only marriage. So, yes. Inquality = second class citizen.

Somehow I highly doubt they would have been pleased to see some holier-than-thou activists use that iconic imagery as a PR stunt, and those handful of WWII vets I've spoken to never even brought up their sexuality. I'm guessing you're merely hoping they would have praised such disrespectful behavior.
The fact that you think race and sexuality is comparable speaks for itself. Race is usually quite obvious at a first glance, you don't know someone's sexuality unless they bring it up. They had the same protection under the law as anybody else. They were not "second class" citizens.

That's not saying much. That's like saying you don't smell as bad as a field of cows.
Is microaggression too early to overuse as a slogan?
Yeah I tend not to respond with a level head when being called a sissy, peno-phile ass-o... whatever gibberish that was. You can call me a [something] sourpuss if you like. I won't take offence at that.
What's this about mods?
I think he was either being intentionally dumb or just trying to bait
Not an excuse mind you
In the original message I said something that would have been censored but didn't get censored and didn't want to take a warning point over it so I said sourpuss, it's the same thing just not really sweary
Some people on the forums get uppity about swears

It's the internet. Everything becomes like Xinternet in it.
