What's disrespectful is how the gay movement has turned into a religion that many of its practitioners constantly feel the need preach and promote through all their actions. Define yourself by who you are as a person rather than who you are attracted to.

It kinda reminds me of how atheism has become a religion with people more annoying than religious fundamentalists. Likewise the gay movement which originally had a honourable cause of fighting for their equality (which they have now achieved) has turned into nothing more than a movement for the radical to preach their hatred for religion or anything else they disagree with it. Those that stand in their way are now labelled bigots or homophobes simply for criticizing a blatant display of sexual perversion in public (gay pride festival).

Now I guess none of this would be problematic if the media and other sites didn't make such a big deal of this festival with the constant stories about the random crap that occurred there. Google news was bombarded with nearly a hundred articles about how some "homophobe gets his ass ripped apart at gay pride festival", how "three childhood friends make out very emotional", how some "gay cop starts twerking his ass in front of straight man's face" and "girl challenges street preacher about his views on gays nails it and street preacher converts2atheism and becomes gay too" as if I give a damn about this nonsense. I visit the newspaper sites and it's filled with all the same articles copy and pasted showing up in "hot stories right now" for an entire week. God, it was so annoying.

I love how many of the people clutching their pearls in offense over that image are the same ones that complain loudly about SJWs being overly sensitive and offended by everything. I guess that the OP and all of those who have agreed with him are just SJWs too, right?

This thread is too ridiculous to participate in meaningfully, but one comment that I want to make:

@ Eternal Phoenix - In what world do you live where gay people have "achieved equality"? Because about 20 countries have legalized same sex marriage? In many countries its still illegal to be gay. You can be arrested and, in some cases, killed legally for being gay - equality achieved? Or, how about in the U.S. where now states have to marry same sex couples? Except that in 30 of the states, you can still be fired if your boss finds out that you are gay. As in, I can get married, but if I change my HR paperwork to show that I'm married to a guy, the reason they give for firing me can be that I'm gay. Legally fired for being gay - equality achieved? Totally no reason to mention LGBT rights anymore, right? Because we are able to get married now, I guess we're suddenly 'equal' despite all of the other laws that state otherwise.

Now where's Cersei? I need a drink and a serious eyeroll at this nonsense.

@Dave I don't know how else to put it other than well stated. I'm sorry that we have so far to go before it can truly be fair and square as many would suggest it currently is.

Also Cersei is partying with the Donkinator.

I find this recreation a little disrespectful..

For the sake of civilized discussion, how do you presume this is disrespectful?

You got to explain that to me, because what I see is a picture that was made into a huge propaganda stunt about how the the US soldiers overcame a vicious enemy, being adapted to show homosexual people finally overcoming vicious prejudice.

I guess I can see how some people might find this disrespectful, but come on, people being irreverent towards historical tragedies is nothing knew, just look at what they did to the Titanic.

CECWEB_Titanic_1.jpg

I know I've written that "jet fuel can't melt steel beams" on the internet far too many times to point a finger at the people who made this picture.

Is that guy in the foreground near the bottom of the boat a photoshopped Pixar character?

The amount of ignorance in your post astounds me (not really tho)...where do I start, well it's easy to say for someone whose right to marry has not been shot down and shat upon for decades. It's "preached" about because the struggle is still there, and very real. Equality is non-existent for gays in most US states and other countries and you can even lose your job or get denied an offer because of your sexuality (especially in the church-controlled state I live in). I guess the ideal solution for YOU and others would be to simply sweep it under the rug and ignore it because "you're simply tired of hearing about it". If there was ever an opportunity for me to tell someone to "check their privilege" now would so totally be it...but since I never use that phrase I'll just leave with what I posted.

This might be the most recreated and parodied image of the modern political world.

Spoiler

So while offense is understandable, it seems a little selective if it's targeted exclusively at this example.

So a faked photo (the actual flag raised occurred a day or two earlier, they recreated it as a photo op) glorifying war is a good thing, but actually treating people decently and fairly is bad? Right.....

Why is it that people try to argue by trying to twist semantics and linking pictures from art depicting events from a religious scripture?

On the point of homophobic discrimination allegedly not being prejudice, because apparently it isn't an opinion born before the fact as was argued to me:

Yes, it is prejudice, because it omits the context surrounding a person and singles out a lone quality (i.e.: sexuality) and then judges said person based on that.

And the other two points given by that certain someone made no sense at all, be that due to just having been worded wrong, or perhaps because whatever it was supposed to mean doesn't make sense to begin with.

And for the nonsensical link to an image picturing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah accompanied with what I can only interprete as a deliberate bait, you don't have to try sending me PMs ever again, I've set you to ignoring messages (and your signature whilst I was at it). There's people better spend time with arguing than people trying to get a raise out of me by going full religious nutjob.

Can't say I'm surprised by just how tasteless the image is, that's the aim of such publicity stunts. Of course they have no appreciation for the men who fought and died in that brutal fighting. Another example of that white cisgender male privilege. <_<

I'm sorry, but have you actually interviewed those people to get their thoughts on the original image? C'mon now.

I know the history of that original image, and how it was used to motivate the war effort back stateside, that doesn't make this parody any less tasteless. There is no use being offended about it because that is exactly what the attention craving activists were seeking to accomplish, yet at the end of the day it's still a tasteless and rather disrespectful stunt that does not even manage to be humorous. So why are we still talking about it?

It's just another part of the never ending "LOOK AT ME" campaign by gay activist types who can't stand not being in the spotlight. They're probably worried people will stop caring now that they can't keep complaining about not having gay marriage.
