I know the history of that original image, and how it was used to motivate the war effort back stateside, that doesn't make this parody any less tasteless. There is no use being offended about it because that is exactly what the attention craving activists were seeking to accomplish, yet at the end of the day it's still a tasteless and rather disrespectful stunt that does not even manage to be humorous. So why are we still talking about it?

It's just another part of the never ending "LOOK AT ME" campaign by gay activist types who can't stand not being in the spotlight. They're probably worried people will stop caring now that they can't keep complaining about not having gay marriage.

Man you need to start a tumblr blog.

My grandfather is about to turn 100 in September.

He was a sniper in WWII.

He told me a story once about this kind man who would hand out cookies to his fellows, while doing his duties. All his descriptions of him all but directly said "This man was gay and (even in my grandfather's view) a more virtuous man than there ever should be on a battlefield."

The kind, very likely gay man was shot in front of my grandfather.

Nearly erased from society, save for the memories of his fellow vets.

Oh man, that is terrible. God bless your grandfather though for his service and for making it to 100.

What is with people who state their intention to ignore somebody? Do they think anybody cares about their effort to turn the forum into a "safe space" away from disagreeable thought? Do they think whoever is being ignored will be offended?

And yet it would have been just as tasteless then as now, but Facebook was crafted for tasteless fools I suppose. Am I supposed to know who Jennifer Aniston is? The name doesn't ring any bells.

I'll remember this the next time you call out "SJW's" for being so sensitive and getting offended so easily.  One could say the same thing about you right now.......  Or is it different because it's something that you find to be important?  Is that where the SJW line is drawn?  Does it not mean "People who are too easily offended and complain about social issues on the internet", but instead means "People who are too easily offended and complain about social issues on the internet provided that I don't agree with them, because if I did, I would think it's totally fine to clutch your pearls in offense at seemingly innocuous internet content"?

Jennifer Aniston is a sappy American actress best known for being on Friends and getting dumped by Brad Pitt for Angelina Jolie.  The point is:  the image resurfaced not because of LGBT activists trying to stay in the spotlight, but because of an overly sensitive SJW (see?  I can use that too) who felt the need to use it to shove his agenda down my throat.....

Eh I dunno about that, let's not get

carried away here.

Oh, that's a pretty song.

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt, in that some people really might care about respecting the armed forces enough to be offended by a recreation of the image, but I would hope that those people would be as annoyed by the Simpson's or the Lego take on it as any other recreation. If they're offended by this image in particular, then I suspect they're probably more offended by the LGBT message than they are by the imitation of the Iwo Jima image itself.

Don't forget "The Rachel," the women's hairstyle of the 90's.

I absolutely had that cut in high school.

I'll be visiting him for that birthday. Its amazing that he's lasted this long. He actually still could appear to be in his 80s.

He's always accepted me. I'm thankful that he's had his long and interesting life.

EDIT: For clarity, it was the Canadian forces, not American.

You don't need to suspect. It is blatantly obvious.

The Rachel never went away. It's just not quite as blown out looking as it used to be. Almost every woman I know has some small variation of the long layered cut.

Where did I say I was offended? It is tasteless and disrespectful to those who fought and died but idiots will be idiots, being offended is pointless.

You do know about the "social justice" part of SJW right? It is the critical part of the phrase. I am not fighting for "social justice" by calling this for what it is. The people who do this sort of stunt often think they are doing it for "social justice".

So some SJW was pissed at some minor actress so he pretended to be her to pretend to be offended all so he could make a some sort of statement? What a waste of 1s and 0s.

I don't think the doubt benefits them because it's simply not disrespectful to the armed forces even if they were consistent about it. I mean, I could understand if it was a flag of a traitorous enemy like the confederacy... but this, nah.

This is not disrespectful to Kougami or Barkley. They should both of them be honored.

I think Mr.Jack kindly pointed out that gay men also fought and died for their country in WW2, and to this day.

Is it really that tasteless considering? Please man..

You seem a little offended to me, but maybe I'm misreading. It's hard to tell the difference because you are complaining about social issues (one might say, social justice for Iwo Jima veterans, particularly since you are doing so for a group of people who you do not belong to) on the internet. I'm sure you can see how I'm easily confused, right? I have such a hard time figuring out who is a communist, er SJW, amid all of the accusations that fly around on the board......

Also the "SJW" that was 'pissed' at Jennifer Aniston was complaining about how tasteless and disrespectful the gay Iwo Jima pic was. And if he's a SJW........just saying.

I'm not offended, but I cant say I see the parallel, either. These dudes were in the middle of a dangerous battle. Gay rights activists were refreshing their computers to see what nine old people had to say. Haaaaaaardly the same thing, lol. A bit overdramatic on both sides, tbh.

Yes they did and so did countless straight men. And they did so in the same uniform of their services and under the same flag of their country, not some rainbow flag of attention-craving activists who want to make some childish political/social statement 60+ years later.

It's no different from so much other "modern art", AKA complete junk praised by the pretentious so they praise themselves for being forward thinking or some BS.

Yes because that's all that James Obergefell has been doing for the last 2 years, refreshing his browser. It's not like he was trying to get his legal marriage to his terminally ill husband recognised by the state he lived in or anything. I'm sure it was all a walk in the park  <_<
