I am not that fussed about recognising voices - it took me until Dragon Age 2 to realise Flemeth was Captain Janeway (I assume the lack of coffee ordering was responsible), and that Leela, the Sons of Anarchy matriarch and the 8 Simple Rules Hennessey mother were the same woman. The only time I have ever had such an immersion breaking he/she's familiar is in Arl Howe, who unfortunately reminds me a bit too much like Prince Charles for me to take the character seriously, I think it's the ears.

So if Black can deliver, go for it, though I thought they go for less well known voice actors for protagonists because they want a sort of generic voice, and so they can get more lines for their money, but if it takes up the same resources anyway, go for it!

Katie Segal = PEG BUNDY!  As much as I love her in Futurama and her other work, she is, and always will be, Peg Bundy first when I hear that voice.

Only if I have the Option to choose another Voice for my FemNotShep. Throw Rocks at me, but I greatly prefer light "sing-songy" Voices for female Characters I play.

And this is why voiced protagonists suck. We don't all want the same voice. Any voice will disappoint some of us.

I do like light sing-songy voices for some of my male characters.

It's better if there's a couple of voice choices though. That way there's a greater chance of finding one you like.

I'm hoping they follow DAI's route with that. I really loved the English female and American female, but I feel like they fit very different types of Inquisitor. Although I like Hawke, her voice definitely didn't fit all the characters I wanted to play.

I don't appear to be able to create a different character with the same voice, so my playthroughs are limited by the voices available.

In DAI, I like 3 of the voices, so I can create and play 3 distinct characters.

In ME, I only liked one of the voices, so I could play inly one character.

In DA2, I didn't like either voice.

Multiple voice choices and that famous voice switch bug (happened to me). No thanks.

Give me a "suitable" voice and I'll be happy. Besides, Bio will save money and maybe they can use that saving into making a better game.

I think multiple voice choices was an experiment with DAI. It produced nothing but complaints with that voice bug.  Or, let me put it this way. Who complained about having no voice choices in DA:O?

I think they did the right Thing with DA:I, by offering two distinctly different  Voices for the Protagonist, one lighter, one rougher.

I thought she did a great job as well.  And I picked her as my character specifically because I recognized "Traynor's" voice.

The fact that you recognized Traynor's voice is a fail in itself. As a Voice Actress, she should have at least tried to give the Inquisitor her own touch and style. Instead she didn't and female IQ sounded JUST LIKE Traynor in terms of tone, delivery, and emotion.

Even Jennifer Hale did a better job at this because she also voiced the female Republic Trooper in SWTOR and while there can be some similarities between the Female Trooper and Female Shepard, overall, the Female Trooper had her own style and delivery which was much more aggressive and darker in tone than what she did with female Shepard.

Nah she's busy saving the universe from the evil aliens with the help of the good-ish aliens and a human for flavor.

Yeah, one thing I really want from the protagonist here is to not be voiced by someone I can immediately recognize, or at all, ideally.

They aren't going to bring in some no name person to voice the protagonist in this game, it will almost certainly be someone who has voiced a BioWare character in the past.

As for Claudia Black doing protagonist voice acting, since I mostly play male, I'd prefer her do a companion.

I wouldn't want her to voice any of my characters. ME:A's Protagonist is supposed to be skilled but unexperienced or something along those lines and I personally hope that means we're not the leader of whatever operation we're part of from the get go, but more of a regular person who's part of the team and hasn't made a name for themselves yet. I listened to the Youtube video in the first post and Claudia Black's voice sounds very experienced, assertive and stern and like she's at least in her thirties.

She could have been a good fit for Shepard, but our new character hopefully won't be similiar to her. I'm a little tired of being the strong badass military leader and savior of the galaxy, so I'd like for the protagonist to be different this time, that goes vor the voice as well. Hers wouldn't fit the protagonist I'm hoping we'll see in Andromeda imo.

I love Claudia Black. I don't want her to voice the protagonist though. I think she should voice a squadmate so male players get to hear her awesome voice too.

Been saying this for ages: I wish Claudia Black would have voiced femShep. At the very least renegade femShep would have been so much better with Black's voice.

I'm totally in favor of having Claudia Black voicing the female PC in ME:A.

And if not Claudia Black, then Denise Cough please.

I like her, I've always liked her, but to be honest I would prefer they cycle in new talent for a new trilogy. It's good to evolve the pool of people that work on these sorts of projects. I definitely wouldn't mind more cameo VA work from her, though.

So Denise Gough then.

That settles it. Denise Gough for the fem protagonist of ME:A!

I wouldn't object to that, but I'm still riding the high of this possibility.

New talent's great, but this long-standing BioWare favorite deserves a starring role.

I do like her work but I'm not sure about her as the main character. She will always be Morrigan and Xen to me, and I love both characters. I think I like what happened with Xen when I heard her voice. I was excited to hear "Morrigan" again. I think I'd rather have that in Andromeda.

No doubt about that. Though I would also be completely fine with Claudia Black voicing a companion again, preferably a bisexual romanceable companion and having Denise Gough voicing the player character. In fact I might actually prefer that myself.

AWR was one of the better VA's for the Inquisitor

Agreed I couldn't use the other one to rough for my characters.

I'm hoping they follow DAI's route with that. I really loved the English female and American female, but I feel like they fit very different types of Inquisitor. Although I like Hawke, her voice definitely didn't fit all the characters I wanted to play.

Completely agree I hope we can choose our voices again it was really big plus for me at least.

So having more voice options available seems like a good choice, since voiced protag is a certainty for ME:A.

Me too! Definitely hoping for that formula again.

If Claudia Black was a VA for the protag, then I think a softer, higher, younger voice would make a good counter option. Especially with a different accent.

As much as I love her voice acting a I would prefer a new voice or a voice that has previously been used but not in a larger role.
