I searched the forum for this topic and i didn't find one - surprisingly. Because i found a lot complains about the villians in the last BW-games - and i could go with them all. So just let me hear your thoughts, ideas, fears, wishes, critics to the upcoming antagonist/s, their personalities, their backgrounds, their evolvement with the protagonist and squad in ME:A. Give me your personal nr. 1 evils.

I hope for the next game we get a villian who is personal related to us in a way  not just one i have to kill off because someone wants that from me *look at Corypheus*. Can be someone who killed a few of our friends/family etc. or some mentor/friend like character who betrayed us for his own greater goals.

I like villians/antagonists who possess some kind of cold intelligence, can be somewhat manipulative and get always one step ahead of me as his/her counterpart. In Germany we say Katz - und Mausspiel (a game of cats and mices, like Tom and Jerry).  For example Sephiroth from FF7 or Loki of Thor had this abilities. Nice basis for plot twists and surprising/exciting game arcs.

A manipulative mastermind like TIM could be nice again, too. But with other background and goals.

I like the idea of some kind of personal related antagonist, who connects us to an even greater evil that can destroy the whole andromeda galaxy.

I like to have an antagonist who can be nice to his/her underlings, but cruel and/or saddistic, too, if they rebel against him/her or break his/her personal codex or his/her understanding for loyalty or something like that.

I want an antagonist, who i can fight in an epic battle or siege like ending, where i have to rescue my home.

So let me hear your thoughts :)

As long as he or she isn't like the villain from DAI. What was his name.....? Damn, I forget because he was just a forgettable villain!

The worst part is that in the first half of the game he was awesome. But then the last missions had a huge drop of quality.

DAI had a villain?  I thought we were fighting injustice, or mental health problems...or was it tooth decay?  I forget.

I want them to be smart, well educated, cunning and to have reasonable goals that are simply irreconcilable from mine. I want a villain that I can respect because they can beat me. They shouldn't be a cartoon villain, simply someone who opposes what I want.

I don't want to save the galaxy this time. I want the protagonist to be like Hawke. I want the stakes to be smaller. I'm tired of role  playing games where the stakes are so stupidly high.

In that leaked survey they referred to the Khet as seemingly antagonistic. I would like for it to be a wtf moment after defeating them learning they were fighting you to prevent something big from happening.

As smart as possible, someone you can relate to, like Loghain in first half of the DA:O.

Then Bioware decided to alter his personality in a cartoony villain way which kinda ruined rest of the game for me.

Coryphetits.  You know, the guy whose motivation is actually more interesting than many (most?) of ME and DA's antagonists?

What you say about this guy?

*snip*

I was thinking more like an Illusive Man that is a native alien. An intelligent opponent that can really hurt the protagonist. I think the Qun made the Arishock a little too foreign to be the type of villain I want. I am envisioning a fight for dominance of a certain major resource or something. Only one faction is going to get it and you want it to be the Citadel races.

I want a villain that's like Jon Irenicus, Sun Li the Glorious Strategist, or Kreia. Someone who is more of a manipulator than a cackling maniac.

@Ghostknob Kinda of like the Gith in Neverwinter Nights 2?

"Beg that I succeed, for I have seen the throne of the gods, and it was empty.”

That part of DAI was amazing. His introduction was really strong.

I liked the Arishok. Kudos to BioWare for making a villain that is sympathetic, but one that you know you have no choice but to stop. Unlike Darth Knight-Commander Meredith.

I think the problem with Corypheus was that after Haven he disappeared for the rest of the entire game until the Arbor Wilds. That's a long time to not see your enemy.

I dunno. I didn't think that the Arishok was particularly sympathetic. The Qun is rubbish and the oxmen are crazy, and he was squatting in the city, making everyone nervous for years because there was a gap in someone's bookshelf somewhere. I wish I could have killed all the Arishok's men and used the book to prop up a table, or just give Gamlen the pages to use in the privy.

Someone who is both physically and mentally formidable. Someone who is capable and poses a credible threat, but isn't omnipotent. Someone who has a commanding prescience and voice. Someone who's motives are understandable even if their methods are monstrous.

I want someone where I can understand how they became what they are, why people follow them. They can be truly horrific individuals, even insane individuals, but I still need to be able to grasp some kind of logic.

I'd want to avoid cheap villain point methods such as racism, sexism, or homophobia. That's cheap heat and lazy writing.

Those would be my big notes.

Sympathetic is a personal way of looking at it, and anyone who doesn't share enough of his ideals isn't going to be. What I like about the Arishok is that he has world view which is a response to the world's problems, he's trying to fix things with a plan that's more than just burning everything down. He can put forth a political position, and I can agree or disagree with it, rather than just have to stop it because it involves killing everyone.

All I know is that we are the Emperor's Fury!

Therefore, our enemies are green space orcs.

I'd love to see the Mass Effect series go small with its plot (personal quest, rather than saving the galaxy), have a protagonist who is a pirate, and a villain cut from a similar cloth as Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting. A villain who is an animal, yet intelligent and charismatic? Yes, please.

Probably not a good fit for ME:A though.

*Sigh* been so long I have seen a good vilain..I almost forgot what it was like....

DO NOT WANT:

-Someone like Malak from kotor 1 . Who goes 'Muahahaha I'm evil ! Destroy a whole planet!'..just for him to go 'Boohoo...it is your fault I was gone bad!' .

-Somoene like a bizzare entity corrupted mindless......may as well be an error 404 that you are fighting against . No thanx .

-Someone who cheat and steal power and then become 'fake badass' . Nah...

-Soemoene like revan , gone good then bad then good then bad then good..ya know what I mean .

-Someone like Amelissan from BG2 Throne of Bhaal with bad acting and you can smell the vilainy from miles away .

-Someone like Saren who become a martyr while when he was alive he was a royale d-bag .

-Someone like the Leviathan who doesn't hear what you are saying cose his voice is on speaker and it is too loud .

WANT:

-Someone like Irenicus . Even in the end he wouldn't stop..make killing him so sweet !

-Someone like his sister Bodhie...the hunt was so much fun .

-Someone Like kreia , Nihilus and Sion . Best evil ever ! Betrayer , Hunger and Pain

-Someone who is smart , very very smart . Smarter then the player and whose evil plan you can't guess till its too late .

-Someone scary and Twisted , someone that make you wanna punch your screen .

-Someone that actually act and not just rely on minions to do his dirty work .

-Someone so powerful you wonder if you can actually kill them .

-Someone who can make a speech that leave you speechless and doesn't use the word 'god' innit .

-Someone who has better hair then you..that too is a killer move :P
