Can't really get into specifics since imo what kind of villain I would want/like would really depend on the over all tone of the game but I usually like these traits in most villains

Very cunning and charismatic

A kind of villain you kind of like but not sure why or the kind you love to hate

I usually like a villain to have some humor to them it either makes them more human or more scary depending on how it's handled.

Being able to actually feel super threatening helps as well, quite a lot actually.

Its a super short list but since I'm not 100% what kind of villain would fit best with the tone ME:A wants I'm gonna leave it at that for now.

It would be wiser to think along the lines of conflict rather than villians.

WANT:

-Someone scary and Twisted , someone that make you wanna punch your screen .

-Someone that actually act and not just rely on minions to do his dirty work .

-Someone so powerful you wonder if you can actually kill them .

-Someone who can make a speech that leave you speechless and doesn't use the word 'god' innit .

-Someone who has better hair then you..that too is a killer move :P

For me, the ideal villain is one who is extremely competent, able to smooth talk nearly everyone around him, yet is cold enough to order atrocities in order to advance their agenda, whether it's profit, power, or even revenge.

Someone who can deceive everyone around them into thinking every word they breathe is gold, when all he really hands them is crap.

I also really love double-speak, where they can say something and it has many nuances and meanings that what they say shows a lot of what they believe as far as they allow what others see, or is even able to trick people who know full well that he's selling them garbage into buying into it anyway.

This villain also has to be able to match the hero, or possibly even act as the antithesis of what the hero represents.

Bioware has already made one villain who is pretty much my ideal villain, and for the sake of those who haven't played it, I won't name him because it's simply a massive spoiler, but it is the main villain of Jade Empire.

Another villain I thought was really well done was...

Damn like limit.

This. In bold. This is what I want so much. Give us a villain with flair and double talk. Give us a villain who's first weapon is ambiguity and cunning.

There's also, not only the main villain, but memorable underlings, for one reason or another.

Another thing that I highly enjoy in a villain is slight mania mixed with utter ruthlessness. A sociopath who simply cannot be reasoned with, is utterly ruthless, and you know when you look in their eyes, it's do or die, because nothing, nothing will get in their way.

And they have the skill to back it up.

Like Bloody Mary from The Wolf Among Us.

Oddly enough with the focus on exploration I actually haven't given any thought whatsoever as to who the villain might be, beyond the pirates and people... you know... defending their homes from the aliens looking to steal their land.

Honestly as long as he or she is less than 2000 metres tall, maybe no more than 10 ft, I should be fine. As much as I hated Cerberus by the end of it, TIM was actually a fairly good villain, the issue being that maybe it would've been nice if he wasn't canonically a villain. I say he was good because he had understandable goals and motivations, though he did become a right villain sue with his omniscience and constant shenanigans. Not to say I want a repeat of TIM, because I don't.

Can be someone who killed a few of our friends/family etc. or some mentor/friend like character who betrayed us for his own greater goals.

Meh, never was fan of "you killed my father, prepare to die" arks.

I guess my expectations are simple. Just make someone with lack of empathy and regrets, someone who enjoys doing his bloody work and beating PC's ass.

"I'm doin' evilz for greater good! Just kidding, I'm batshit crazy" plot is overrated.

I enjoy to a certain extent nihilistic villains, that or a sociopath but those often go hand in hand.

I want a intelligent and manipulative vilian that toy's with the protagonist's mind. Since we have the choice to react to what he says, I want him (or her) to be very convincing and his/her appeals and arguments to be tempting for me. This would be a nice change from the many "BHAWAHHAHAHAH!!" villains I'm seeing lately.

I'd actually like to see a villain along the lines of Delita from Final Fantasy Tactics. Someone you're very close to and possibly built up a strong rapport and relationship with, such as a childhood friend or even romantic figure. It would make for a great tragic arc in that you may not want to go against the antagonist but you're forced to either because he/she is way over their head or circumstances just make you on opposing sides (with little to no hope for a peaceful resolution). Believe me I like your typical sociopathic, evil for the sake of evil villain but it would be a refreshing change to have an antagonist be someone you actually might like at first. In fact it'd be neat if they made the villain actually likable instead of setting them up to be someone you hate (Loghain, Saren, etc...) despite their efforts being not as evil as you think.

Kreia from KOTOR 2 was an excellent antagonist. Sets herself up as a mentor and acts as a sort of cosmic figure, testing you in the end. Sun Li pulling the villain arc from Jade Empire was also kind of cool.

Or...depending on your choices the main villain changes based on who you align with, sort of like a Samson/Calpernia thing.

(What if the Pathfinder is the real villain the whole time? Hmmm...)

I don't want ANY villains in this game at all.

Several rival factions - yes, absolutely.  All with a figurehead that's directly in opposition of my PC - okay, I'm all for it.  But a Saren, Harbinger, Sovereign, Archdaemon, Corypheus... no, a thousand times, no.

I'd like there to be several "enemy" factions - I'd like the outcomes with these factions to range from:  "Form Alliance" to "Armistice" to "Annihilate"

I want the "End Goal" of the game to be the settlement of "New Earth" and finding a home ideal for humanity.

There is an old RTS called Homeworld... I want to play that in ME cRPG style.

"Beg that I succeed, for I have seen the throne of the gods, and it was empty.”

That part of DAI was amazing. His introduction was really strong.

The battle of Haven and his victory was one of the most memorable parts I've ever played in a video game. It's a shame the rest of the game is crap

For one thing I like final boss fights between two humanoid characters rather than the hero versus a giant abomination monster thing. Secondly I like villains who are very powerful, but are still fallible. Saren was a powerful opponent with skills beyond his years, but he could still be defeated through normal means. Having a power level like the Reapers will always lead to needing a special off switch to be defeated, or have their power levels fluctuate beyond the means of consistent writing just to push out a victory. Reapers should have absolutely curb-stomped the galaxy the way they were described in ME1 and ME2, and only ME3 offered the magical improbable solution.

ME2 was filled to the brim with these kinds of villains... just nowhere near Saren's final boss plot armor power levels. ME3 had the Reapers so outside of Kai Leng that element was lost until the Omega DLC which probably had the best villain in the whole game.

With the leaks so far proving to be correct, I believe the Khet are indeed going to be this game's Geth, which is grand news in my opinion outside of the name (which is one letter short of being an anagram for Geth...uh, creativity?). If its a power struggle I expect a very powerful Khet leader, or whatever their Spectre equivalent is and PLEASE OH PLEASE don't end the game with the revival of a "Remnent" who warns us that his kind are returning to Andromeda to wipe out all life PLEASE OH GOD NOOOO.

Someone like Admiral Gerrel who anoys you more and more until you just want to shoot him for his repeated betrayals and stupidity. Someone who isn't an obvious enemy at first but whom you learn to dislike more and more.... For reasons, rather than, bahahaha I'm the boogieman...
