nobody is buying a Bioware game solely because of the multiplayer.

Many people have stated that they will be buying ME:A solely because of the multiplayer, including me. You do not have exclusive purview over why people buy things.

OK. I still think it's weird, although less weird in that ME3's MP was quite a lot of fun.

Either way, it's irrelevant to whether or not they should lock exclusively SP content behind MP participation. They should not, either way.

Really?I was under the impression that they would still let MP be connected to single player. It's not like anyone on these forums can say they can't play Multiplayer due to Internet being not accessible.Everyone here is online with Internet.

Are you aware that Internet Service Providers often place limits on monthly traffic? Are you aware that for many people their upload speed (the speed at which information from their device is communicated to the target site) is a fraction of their download speed (the rate at which information is transmitted from the target site to the connected device)? You can view forum pages and post replies using 56K dial-up, but online gaming requires decent upload speeds or you'll get rubber-banding. Rubber-banding is what happens when your gaming device transmits your character's position to the server, but the server refreshes the screen before your upload completes. Your character springs back to where they were a moment before. You're usually unable to control the character until the gaming device and the server are back in synch, which can take a few moments more. If you're in combat at the time, you're probably going to die. If you're waiting for a plot-essential loot item to drop, you may lose that plot-essential item and be unable to progress.

And that completely ignores the fact that some people visit the forums from their phones or computers, but use an offline device for gaming. Or maybe they are unable to subscribe to  PS+ or gold membership or whatever. The person responsible for making the connectivity decisions may not want online gaming, or it may be that the subscription fees are too much of a strain on the budget.

Your post pretty much reads as "Let them eat cake."

The patch alone is some 2.5GB. If your ISP sucks, no Dragon Props for you.
Oddly enough the ones arguing with Gold and PS+ around here seem to be PC gamers.

As for players on budget, BioWare should make all DLCs free. I mean, we cant have poor guys not being able to enjoy the DLCs, right? Come to think of it, the game itself should be free ... and EA should ship it to you along with computer or console of your choosing.
Then again what if you dont want to play the game? maybe some BioWare employee should play it for you.

The Glorious PC Master Race is nothing if not generous and benevolent.

But honestly, when Bioware makes boneheaded decisions that reflect poorly on their brand and their reputation (not to mention EA's bottom line), it hurts everyone regardless of chosen platform.

Funny thing about downloads. If a particular download is interrupted, it resumes once the connection is restored. Another funny thing about downloads. You can begin the download during off-peak hours (when most people won't be online for MP anyway) or let it run unattended overnight. While it might be possible to leave a MP game open overnight while I'm sleeping, I'm pretty sure I won't kill any dragons that way.

Honestly, I wish BioWare would just set up some nice 100-point MP achievements instead of SP unlocks. Maybe even give players a little dragon icon that displays alongside the DAI/Keep icons under their BSN portraits. That would let MP players bolster their e-peen without locking SP players out of SP content.

You're twisting yourself into a caricature over this. Stop being ridiculous.

All anybody wants is for them to not retread their worst mistakes and to not neglect their single player fans. It's eminently reasonable and takes nothing away from you or your game experience.

This. They promised that sp content would not be gated behind mp. This is a violation no matter how you look at it. It's a benefit only sp can get from doing mp. Unless they added a keep for your mp adventure that I'm not aware of.

Especially when the so-called "cosmetic" stuff like this offers more pure RP value than most other rewards I can think of.

Releasing promotional items was their worst mistake? Neglect singleplayer fans? They are patching the SP on regular basis, they patched in the tinting table and storage chest and they released Black Emporium DLC for free.
The content staying MP exclusive reward takes nothing away from you either, but here we are - you would prefer it not being available to anyone rather than being available to people playing MP.

You dont seem to be using mobile internet connection with strict data cap yourself.

SP players would be raging, thats why the game has no MP achievements in the first place.

It takes exclusively single player content away from me and everyone else who for whatever reason cannot or will not participate in MP. I don't think you're actually reading my posts.

I have no objection to MP players being rewarded for playing MP. There needs to be a single player path to stuff like this though. Otherwise, no, they should not include it, because they said they wouldn't.

I had a big problem with them locking single player content effectively behind MP in ME3, and I have a bigger problem with them doing the same thing again despite unambiguously denying they would. That's the bottom line.

I can't imagine anyone would rage over this. I don't even care about single player achievements, I just care that I'm denied valuable RP content that confers no MP benefits for refraining from playing the MP game. And again - I'm also mad that they didn't learn their lesson the first time they pulled this.

No one wants to take SP content away from MP players. All SP players want is the ability to obtain SP content by playing SP, as we were promised before the game came out.

And to be fair, most of the MP players I've talked to have no objection to making SP content available by playing the SP campaign, either. It seems as if very few insist on MP exclusivity, as long as they get a crack at it, too. If it's that important to have an MP-specific trophy, there are other, much better ways to go about it. There's room on the MP GUI for any number of trophies, or even new Origins achievements. I remember thinking how odd it was that there were no XBox achievements for MP. There really should be. Or players who complete MP challenges could gain access to some valuable gear. It seems to me that would benefit MP players far more than SP content.  Of course, this assumes the motivation here is something other than the desire to say "I got a cookie and you didn't."

I'm kinda puzzled why this argument is still going on. Someone reported yesterday that the devs said they're working on a way to make things right.

Away? I dont remember the content being in the game until the last patch.

You dont mind others being rewarded, as long as you do get the same reward. And if you dont get the reward, no-one else should.
Better yet the decision whether to obtain the reward is your own.
I know we are talking about silly dragon-themed decor, but that is just plain wrong.

edit: Come to think of it, that may be my problem here. I dont care about dragon props, I dont use them as its out of place as most other decors. I think, I just dont like people being entitled to everything without any effort on their side, while at the same time demanding to take away stuff from those who exersise any skill or effort. This communist poison ruined my country.

What was the ME3 content? a two second scene you could get using an iOS app?
They said they have cool ideas for the future - you have been warned.

I think the decorations should have been for mp cosmetics to give the mp community something different. But since it was a sp reward only gained from mp I don't think it was wise. Should have just been made multiple ways to getting it.

The reward in itself is getting the decor from mp instead of waiting to get to a certain point in the story after reaching skyhold in a campaign to unlock it every play through. Quickest access to getting the set.

Mark darrah made a tweet saying they are looking Into options. So sp we may yet be happy.

How about MP rewards for MP participation? I'm 100% in favor of that.

I clarified in an edit that I mean single player content. And considering how very dismissive of said content you are anyway, I don't understand why you care so much, and I can't imagine you're a very good judge of how meaningful or relevant it is to a given player anyway. That two second scene (which was not achievable with an ios app at the time of release, assuming you even had an IOS device and, again, the cash to buy the app) made a pretty big goddamn difference to some people, and they were fools to lock it out of even a completionist SP run. While you're on a roll though, please attempt to justify locking single player content behind the purchase of a completely unrelated phone app on a platform that not everyone has access to. I'd enjoy reading it.

Whatever cool ideas they have on deck, I hope they're better than this one, because it's disasterous.

Well, they would because Platinum or 1000/1000 matters to many ... and since your complaints are all about principles and not about being too lazy to grab a piece of content you want, you would obviously join them in fighting for their 100% valid cause.

How about MP rewards for MP participation? I'm 100% in favor of that.

How about new SP rewards, because despite popular belief, MP players do in fact play SP ... and there is more time to look at shinnies.

Since you people are perfectly fine with SP content being "locked" behind purchase of another game, game guide, hardware or attending Microsoft conference, I dont see any issue - no MP required.

And limited to ios, yes. Great. If I have a windows phone? Platform exclusivity issue notwithstanding, there were problems with those apps, including and especially the free one. And in this specific example, that particular outcome being unachievable in a given SP campaign was borderline unforgivable. They couldn't have walked it back faster (and to their credit, they did).

I don't know where I indicated that I'm fine with any of those things, but there are degrees of egregiousness, and that's pretty much all I'm gonna say on this point.

Do we not have the opportunity to hunt the creatures that would drop the content we're arguing about over the course of the campaign? I don't think the single player dragons are just flopping around. They've got all their bones, don't they?

I don't care for Lyrium Reapers either, but as I said, degrees of egregiousness. This is something that's free to anyone with access to a browser and far less dependent on the quality of someone's connection or their comfort playing in a completely different setting than the SP. It doesn't require someone to participate in MP, which (in case you've missed this point) is something a great many people take exception to.

The price of admission is much broader and much more accommodating. And MP, as we've discussed, is not necessarily "free" even with a reliable internet connection.

To be fair, I was the one who was cool with SP content gated by the purchase of other games or peripherals, not TommyServo.

Edit: What I'm not cool with is a broken promise: They promised that SP content would not be gated by MP, that the two modes would remain 100% separate.
