The way it was setup was at the end of an MP match it would write an entitlement to your account that you killed the dragon, then when the game launched it would check to see if you had that entitlement and if it did it would make it available.

This is how it works

When the Dragon Hunter quest is completed, you get a popup advising you that the quest is completed, same as you get when you buy all the beds or what have you. Could that popup not write an entitlement to your account as well?

Not when your playing the game offline, or if your internet connection disconnects during game play which is why aquiring it through SP means can't really work, unless the unlock is built into the actual game itself. Also from what the member of staff mentioned it writes the data to the multiplayer account not the main one.

Unlocking it through killing all 10 dragons isn't an option either since most MP players also play SP and have likely got that achievement too and by making it connected to that would prevent them from acquiring it through MP if they preferred. Don't the MP players have a website for accessing their multiplayer data regardless of what console they got to play it on?, believe it's inquisition HQ, if that can access the data, then surely the data can be written to it too making it the ideal place for a web based option to get the set?

Also I think they might avoid providing the set as a DLC since it would mean they would have to back down from their refusal to make any more DLC's for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

can't the content simply be added via patch to the shops in val Royoux?

Or one of the vendors in Skyhold, which might be more sensible. It's made clear in the game that when you kill a dragon, inquisition agents do sweep in and commandeer the remains. And don't you get an achievement the first time you kill one? Can they not tie the unlock to that?

I really don't buy that this is at all difficult. I know that these dragon decorations aren't a huge thing (subjective), but the fact that they're locking SP content behind MP participation is massively disappointing.

No the entitlement is tied to systems that only exist in MP

Also given that the entitlement is written to your online account, what happens when you are playing offline?

Ugh, this is why people hate always online DRM.    :(

Heck what happens when the servers eventually get sunsetted?

It is not DRM, it is entitlements we need some way to say you did something. MP does not write local data, because that would be highly insecure. So where do you put it? On a server and a server requires people to be online at least once.

I am sure we will have a plan for that when the time comes, but look at DAO, 6 years later and the servers still exist.
