I was planning on buying DA:I at some point, eventually, a long time from now when I've gotten around to finally playing the first two (I'm pretty sure I now own more games I haven't played than ones I have), but now I've got a few friends telling me to buy it so I can play MP with them on my new baby XBone (ssshhhhhh, she's resting). Is it worth buying the game now just for MP alone? How does it stand up to/against other games?
Is DA:I Worth Buying For The MP?

Pluses:
Decent game play.
Fun to play with friends.
Progression and items not bad.
Leveling and skills not bad.
Minuses:
About as stable as a hippo forced to stand on one leg....his front leg.
If you can get by with crashes and disconnects of every type imaginable and say a few zen like words to get by then the game is fine. If you get annoyed by playing for 20 minutes and 5 seconds from victory get booted back to the desk top you may need to rethink.

I personally feel the multiplayer is a bit crappy but I feel it's definitely worth it for the single player for sure.

I have 459 hours of play showing in Origin
I spent two hours in the SP to learn the basics and didn't go back afterwards. Not that the SP is bad but I don't have time for it MP rulzez.

Apparently, "time" isn't the issue.

If you have friends to play with, I'd say yes, but expect to dedicate a lot of hours if you want to really advance in this game.
Based on a largely RNG-based equipment system (with some weight towards loot score, i.e. amount of treasure chests opened) and an uncapped stat progression system, progress can feel stagnant when you first start out. This might be more apparent if you're running with experienced, well-equipped players who have already acquired great gear and promoted their character stats a lot.
Ultimately, I feel it's worth it. See Beerfish's comment for other considerations (though I disagree on progression being 'not bad'). Just be aware that to really get the most out of the game, you're gonna be in for the long haul. Hundreds of hours at least to see most of the good equipment and the higher difficulty levels (unless you get carried or are very lucky on item drops).

I bought it just for the MP, and I'd advise against it if you think the experience will be anything like ME3.
I consider DA:I worth what I paid for it, but I waited until it was about 33% off.
For me, it was the 120 hours in SP that made it worth spending the money. From the perspective of getting it for the multiplayer, I'd have been disappointed if that was the reason I bought it.

I spent about 10 mins in SP ![]()
The way I see it, with the minute population & difficulty finding lobbies due to matchmaking issues that still haven't been addressed, buying it now would be folly.

SP is fantastic. But for those who only care about prestige, I am behind those people. A little late to the MP game.

No, I try as hard as I can to love this game, but it doesn't pull through.
I've played MP every single day since the game dropped, I absolutely hate Single player and though I have had some great times on Multiplayer and enjoyed it, Bioware is just too mainstream now. They gloss over the details and it really makes for a subpar experience.
The ONLY reason I stuck with the game is because I'm a die-hard Dragon Age fan, and Inquisition was just a "heartbreaker" for me in many ways.

It may be that there won't be much of the playerbase left for much longer, which is a shame, but the SP mode isn't bad either. I just couldn't get into it personally, for a lot of reasons that I've raged about in the past, but plenty of people are loving it.

You know all those guys in the SP form raging about how they have to play MP to unlock stuff for Skyhold? I used to be one of them.
Oh really, that sounds cool. I barely made it to skyhold before I quit and deleted the save. If I ever decide to sweep through the game with a barrier caster, I sincerely hope I get some nice gear from the massive grind MP was.

Heh, I should clarify, the skyhold content is new, and you get it via killing MP dragons. A lot of the SP only guys are currently raging hard about this. I haven't touched SP in months! I meant that I was a SP 'purist' who couldn't tolerate the thought of playing MP with my RPGs. It's why I only played a tiny bit of ME3MP for war assets. And when extended cut came put, didn't even need to do that!

Go to My Games and hover over DA:I it will show your stats
Apparently, "time" isn't the issue.
I play 3-4 hours per night with friends split between DAMP and Warframe so there isn't time to play other games unless I play on my own.
I find playing with friends more fun than without them.
ME3MP had me logging 1200 hours and Steam says 2000 hours of Warframe

This.
If you could buy it for 20 euros as a standalone I'd say go for it but full price for just the MP is nuts

I'm the weirdo who enjoys both SP and MP equally, yet those days I'm probably spending more time on the MP than the SP.
I have gotten more out of this game than out of any other next gen title so far - but I am also a long-time fan of the Dragon Age world, so I don't know what to tell you in an unbiased fashion.
