Short answer: Yes, buy it

Absolutely.

However, if you played ME3MP, I hope you deal well with disappointment.

I was planning on buying DA:I at some point, eventually, a long time from now when I've gotten around to finally playing the first two (I'm pretty sure I now own more games I haven't played than ones I have), but now I've got a few friends telling me to buy it so I can play MP with them on my new baby XBone (ssshhhhhh, she's resting). Is it worth buying the game now just for MP alone? How does it stand up to/against other games?

Obviously

If you plan on pugging like in ME3, that is just not possible due to crashes, connection issues, region locking and various glitches. Lag usually reaches unimaginable heights compared to ME3 but it is a slow motion action style RPG, so it is not that important.

Also, single player is very good, outstanding. I'd rate SP 9 out of 10 and MP around 7 out of 10.

Heh, I should clarify, the skyhold content is new, and you get it via killing MP dragons. A lot of the SP only guys are currently raging hard about this. I haven't touched SP in months! I meant that I was a SP 'purist' who couldn't tolerate the thought of playing MP with my RPGs. It's why I only played a tiny bit of ME3MP for war assets. And when extended cut came put, didn't even need to do that!

Only a tiny bit of ME3MP?

Oh God, I am so, so sorry. ME3MP hooked me like a damn drug so hard. And I was like you, SP only and "eeeew, what is BioWare doing shoving MP into my RPGS???" And then I played a little ME3MP and goddamn.

Never. Dont compare DAIMP to the amazing ME3 MP. Its not even half as good. Sorry Bioware. You know its true, just compare the the raw numbers of players to those still playing ME3 MP.

It may be that there won't be much of the playerbase left for much longer, which is a shame, but the SP mode isn't bad either. I just couldn't get into it personally, for a lot of reasons that I've raged about in the past, but plenty of people are loving it.

Whoa wait... what? This is the first I'm hearing about this. BW has like the worst communication. Someone on the marketing and programming team needs a swift kick in the ass. How many times do we have to remind them to do in-game announcements? Why wouldn't they also add MP unlockables for SP completions? Completely wasted opportunity there to boost traffic for both modes and give players something as a reward. YOU LISTENING STILL BW?

OP: Yes, it's worth getting. Wait for the next sale then check back and ask about the MP population to see if hasn't died off and/or if the general population hasn't moved on to a higher difficulty (i.e. most ppl could be playing Perilous instead of Threatening which means you'd have a harder time progressing initially). Different platforms experience different population drops.

1000+hours showing on Origin.

If you can deal with really crappy matchmaking system and servers stable as my country's economy,go for it.

Edit

@Dragonracer and Spectr61-over 2.5K hours in ME3MP,but shhh,don't say it to anyone :D

Back to the topic,I have some friends who tried DAIMP and said it is rather boring and repetitive,so I guess the best bet would be try it first.

Absolutely Yes.

It's a fun pick up and play game if you don't mind repetition and grind.  What online games aren't repetitive ?

I like games you can build your character up over time.  Once FFXI and FFXIV got ruined this turned out to be my drug of choice.

If you have a busy life you can load it up and play a few 10min games.  If you have loads of spare time you can grind the **** out of promotions.

Beware though....you won't stop at 1 promotion.....

I've played 1 hour of SP.

I've played roughly 702 hours of MP (roughly cause I'm guessing 1 promote every 3 hours but I have no way of checking for sure)

This is not an easy game to get in. And, unless you make awesome friends who do not have plans to leave the game anytime soon, it can also end up being a short lived game - as it has been to some people.

However, if you have perseverance and good company, then it is definitely worth buying! Especially since it is on sale anyway.

I am close to 2k hours played and honestly I am enjoying it today more than I ever did before.

I've got about 1600hrs in DAI (more or less). And it's about 40% SP and 60% MP. I'd say it's worth it, personally, but it really pays to find a decent group of people to play with regularly.

Go to My Games and hover over DA:I it will show your stats

I play 3-4 hours per night with friends split between DAMP and Warframe so there isn't time to play other games unless I play on my own.

I find playing with friends more fun than without them.

ME3MP had me logging 1200 hours and Steam says 2000 hours of Warframe

Thanks Sabreracer!

Well the game is on sale right now so that is a plus. If you are sure your friends will stick with it why not? The connection issues and bugs mentioned in this thread are real as in real freakin annoying and on more than one ocasiion have resulted in me switching to another game. I have about a 1000 hours split pretty evenly between SP and MP, most of my friends have long moved on from this game and with a shrinking playerbase pugging is a mixed bag. It all comes to back to your friends and how long they will stick with this trying game. Had to add that I bought this game strictly for SP.

Not really sure I would ever recommend any game only for MP, and this one isn't an exception.
