I've been going over my canon world state , constantly tweaking things to try to craft a story across the series that's interesting, flows well, and makes sense, but I can never feel quite satisfied with what I get. So I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions or opinions that they'd be willing to share.

What is interesting is a matter of opinion.

Most of what you do in Keep won't appear in Inquisition. Or do you just mean the world state including Inquisition?

Again, pretty much everything you do will be "interesting" to someone.

The only advice I can give is...

Make each protagonist a different class. Warrior for one, rogue for another, mage for another. That way if they all ever team up, they'll be a balanced party. And try to make Hawke a warrior or rogue so Bethany lives, since she is objectively more interesting than Carver.

Other than that, try to have things take place if those things could lead to something more. For example, Avernus lives to keep working on his research, either ethically or unethically. Give the amulet back to the crazy elf girl in the alienage. Preserve the Urn. Let the mages of Kirkwall live if they surrendered. Stuff like that.

For something neutral and you don't have to overthink, I think the defaults are OK (Dalish Warrior and Mage Hawke), but maybe with a few tweaks (like completing most quests). If I wanted to be a mage Inquisitor, I'd mix it up and make Hawke a rogue.

For the most content possible, I'd probably change it to a Warden who did the ritual (be it with themselves or Alistair/Loghain) or romancing Morrigan, but not having the ritual (human Keiran). But who knows how much they'll follow up on all of this. It's kind of why I prefer a sacrifice Warden.. it ties up loose ends.

Well, I have to disagree with this. :P

Bethany is sweet and all, but if you follow the friendship path for Carver, the relationship that you end up with between he and Hawke by the end of DA2 is kind of touching. Caver all the way! ;)

For DA2 I ended up liking to play as a Mage that spent her years doing anything in her power to try and liberate her fellow mages but she became disillusioned with such notions as Mage freedom by the end, Anders destruction of the chantry and the death of innocents forcing her hand to finally end up taking Merediths side.

I was always iffy about a Mage Hawke becoming Viscount, but I decided to stick with this play through for DAI and I was pleased with the fact that the Templars, under the influence of red lyrium, eventually became her enemy. I think it flows well story wise.

Well... I'll try.

An interesting world state in my opinion is the one that haves more plot elements and that enables more character appearances. So, in my opinionm this is an interesting one:

An human noble warden that romances Morrigan and perform the ritual. There is some nice symbolism about the Couslands having a legacy. In this world state the warden marries Alistair to Anora while Loghain is recruited. All companions should be recruited and have their personal quests completed. Who knows if that won't have relevance in future games, right?

While Hawke is more interesting as an warrior or rogue, as taking care  of Bethany feels more fluid to the plot. Bethany stays behind and becomes a circle mage. That would give a strong reason to non mage Hawke side with the mages. Dueling the Arishok is also more climatic to the story. While for romance any would do really. DA2 romances are pretty incosequential, apart from perhaps Anders who is at least directly tied to the plot.

For the Inquisitor, I would suggest female mage Lavellan who romances Solas. This is easily the most story driven romance. She recruits mages as allies (were you get both Alistair and Anora cameo), Forces the leaders of Orlais into a truce and haves them eating at her hand (this could allow more future cameos depending how BW does things in the future). Leaves Loghain behind in the fade and recruit the wardens. For last Lavellan would drink from the Well, as it's fitting, since this is her people's legacy.

I must take exception with only one suggestion. Bethany is not "objectively" more interesting than Carver.  Subjectively, perhaps, to you, however, I find Carver to be quite interesting. I love to grow his character in the Gray Wardens, under Nathaniel's tutelage. In my story, he turns out rather well. Bethany hates the Wardens, and the Circle is one of Dante's levels of hell.

I found Bethany to be pretty boring tbh, I didn't like Carvers attitude at all but I found him to be more interesting of the two.

Anyways, Orzammar is an interesting place & good to have around. You should make Bhelen King and Save the Anvil to ensure it has the best odds of sticking around. =)

Spare the Architect because lets face it, at this point its inevitable he's coming back anyway what with the whole being one of the original magisters.

Wipe out the Dalish clan in Origins because whats 1 more Dalish clan compared to a clan of savage werewolves? (You did say an "interesting" world state after all)

Status quo is boring, So get rid of Celene and Put Gaspard or Briala on that throne
Cassandra is to vanilla. Get Vivienne or Leliana on the sunburst throne
Have your Hawke be a Mage and then side with the Templars, because breaking precedents is interesting and mages ruling over people in the south is something new
Humans are Vanilla. Go Maximum Heretic and make your Inquisitor a Qunari Mage.

I would've thought Dalish mage could be cool, but together with Ameridan looks like forced elfy-ness.
