All the more reason to not just buy whatever before knowing the final product.
What you enjoy is not necessarily what someone else would enjoy. As consumers in the market, people are free to put their money where they will. Some people will be more cautious, others will jump on the chance.
But think of this, I was in a group of people that preordered Shadow of Mordor while a few of my friends wanted to wait for fellow gamer-reviews and not the big name reviewers like IGN, especially since the developers of that game actually forbade reviewers from giving it a bad review pre-release.
Which turned out to be stupid because it was a great game.
I preordered and played it so I could offer a solid opinion based on my experiences with the game so my friends would know if it was or was not what they were interested in.
What I'm saying is feel free to be cautious, but there's no need for comments like...
I'm sure they appreciate knowing they don't have to create a quality product to get your money.
...as the tone of it creates the sense that you are putting the person you are talking to down.
I'm not saying you are or are not, but someone casually reading through the posts, like I was, that's how it comes across.
Rather, take the time to be cautious if you wish to save your money, and then let someone you know has similar tastes in games as you do buy the game, or rent it yourself rather than purchase it, and let them or the rental help form your opinion if it's a game you want to invest the time and money in rather than dismiss it outright because of past games.
