Well, technically the Crucible is independent of the star child. Save for the Expository Steamer that the hologram lays all over the platform in front of Shepard, you could literally just replace it with Vendetta and it could still give you the choices like an interactive interface.

Unfortunately, that could have played much like the like scenes from ME1; a possible mistake somewhat repeated with the demise of the Illusive Man and Saren. What may have been possible is that the Crucible could have dominated EDI, and have her explain all the options. However, this could have come across as a bit heavy handed, and I already love her dialogue at the end.

Not saying it's great, just saying it didn't kill everybody's dogs, cause global warming, start a war, end humanity, etc.

You can't prove that.

Before DA:I, a common sentiment was that ME3 destroyed everything good in this world, so nobody in their right mind should even consider buying the new game until all the reviews came out, and the price dropped to $15.

I, and apparently quite a few other people paid no attention and pre-ordered because that's what huge fans do.

Once all the figures came out, there was celebration. Best selling Bioware game! New DLC! More leeway from EA!

I plan on pre-ordering Andromeda too. It's how to support this awesome franchise we supposedly all love.

I'm sure they appreciate knowing they don't have to create a quality product to get your money.

As these forums make clear every day, there is no one standard for what constitutes a "quality product".

I dunno. Having this scene use EDI might have been interesting, considering that I was going to kill her and the geth in a single blow.

All the more reason to not just buy whatever before knowing the final product.

Nope.  Not sure why I would want to spoil myself with plot and dialogue choices before playing it myself.

Where I am I pay about 100 -120 NZ dollars per game.. that is not a lot of money for what is hours of entertainment even if I only play through a game once, which so far has never happened with any Bioware game (all have had multiple playthroughs).  So even if the game is only okay, it is still good enough value for me to buy 'sight unseen'.

Were I to feel the need to spoil the game's content in its entirety before buying it, I would make no such purchase at all.

I will, at most, question a small circle of friends about the game.

What you enjoy is not necessarily what someone else would enjoy. As consumers in the market, people are free to put their money where they will. Some people will be more cautious, others will jump on the chance.

But think of this, I was in a group of people that preordered Shadow of Mordor while a few of my friends wanted to wait for fellow gamer-reviews and not the big name reviewers like IGN, especially since the developers of that game actually forbade reviewers from giving it a bad review pre-release.

Which turned out to be stupid because it was a great game.

I preordered and played it so I could offer a solid opinion based on my experiences with the game so my friends would know if it was or was not what they were interested in.

What I'm saying is feel free to be cautious, but there's no need for comments like...

I'm sure they appreciate knowing they don't have to create a quality product to get your money.

...as the tone of it creates the sense that you are putting the person you are talking to down.

I'm not saying you are or are not, but someone casually reading through the posts, like I was, that's how it comes across.

Rather, take the time to be cautious if you wish to save your money, and then let someone you know has similar tastes in games as you do buy the game, or rent it yourself rather than purchase it, and let them or the rental help form your opinion if it's a game you want to invest the time and money in rather than dismiss it outright because of past games.

I'm not so much putting down the person as the idea of pre-orders. They are simply foolish. It is, of course, someone's right to be foolish with their own money. However, it does bother me in the sense that someone who is willing to put up money for whatever can potentially affect me in the long run because of the message it sends to developers.

How was it stupid to wait? Getting more information before making a decision is generally a good idea, and a company restricting reviews should be a red flag. I played Shadows of Mordor also, but I got something like 60% off because I waited. I played the exact same game but paid less for it and lost nothing. There are so many good games to play that you have plenty to keep you busy until prices drop. That's not to say it's foolish to pay full price as long as you know what you're buying. And given the way games tend to be a launch lately, release date purchases don't seem to be a great idea either.

Basically, pre-ordering is taking the mystery box.

This will be the first Deluxe Edition of a game that I have ever bought, let alone preordered like I am planning on doing the very second it becomes available.

Yeah, the N7 logo hooked me too. Not to mention that desert planet. Im thinking of Collector's Edition.

Let's plays are okay for games where it isn't a plot-driven adventure. Mass Effect's narrative is so immersive and constant that playing it yourself after watching a 'let's play' would be like watching the GoT's 'Red Wedding' scene after watching reaction videos. Ultimately you might think from watching the videos that the show is really good to illicit such reactions, but at the same time, you deprive yourself of that same experience.

Waiting for published reviews, however, I can understand.

Yes, ME3 original ending was a slap to the face, and DA:I's main plot was lacklustre. But each of those games had really great moments in them, that I wouldn't have been able to appreciate if I watched someone play it before me.

I'm quite happy to say that without hesitation, I'll be pre-ordering ME:A. If we love the ME franchise enough to still be around on these boards discussing ME3 3 years after its release, I suspect most people here will either pre-order of buy soon after release for another taste of it.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Bioware game, so yeah, I will be getting it day 1.

Were the ME3 endings sort of a lame way to end the game, sure... but the rest of the game was pretty awesome.     I am also pretty peeved about the Red Wedding and half the other things that happen in "Game of Thrones" but still love the series.

No difference for Bioware games.

The times when I blindly bougth any BioWare game are over. So yes, I have to see gameplay from youtubers or something before I will buy ME:A. It's becouse I read leaked script about game story and Im not impressed by it. The second thing is, that Im affraid that ME:A will be similar to DA:I with a lot of fetch quests, collecting resources etc. Also I dislike the rumours that  I will have to play multiplayer to get something in a single player game. So I will wait and see...Plus I don't care too much about another game in ME Universe after I finished ME Trilogy and Shepard story.

The rumour about play Horde mode to access top gear is found in the "leaked poll".  Personally, I believe there never was a "leak". Just Bio putting out ideas and secretly reading the fan reactions.

What really would pis* me off is forcing me to play in Horde mode to access high level gear/tech and then find out that in order to survive the attack, I need to buy better MP equipment.

First, why do you keep putting that stupid "<<<<<<<<<<0>>>>>>>>>>" thing after quotes?

Second, people like different things, so drop the holier-than-thou attitude.

Keep the catalyst as is and while the thing talks it changes into characters Shepard knows like what leviathan does during the conversation

I followed DAI like hell , watched every leak and details and Vid on Twitcher they released . And in the end the Game looked like a good cake but tasted bitter .

This Time around....I aint gonna follow or look at any Vid . May just skip it and wait till peoples vent for months .

I set my eyes on better games like Fallout 4 and the next lara croft instead .

Define "better."

Also explain how you know a game will be better that hasn't been released yet in comparison to another game that hasn't been released yet.
