I always use the Bog Unicorn because I love unicorns (and before someone asks: no, it's not a TW3 pun!)
Do you choose your mount based on your character's race, or whatever you feel like?

My human mage chose the bog unicorn for the same reason he became a necromancer, as a way to appear powerful and intimidating, which is also kind of ironic because I played him to be noble and helpful and good. I just role-played that he was trying to project a certain image to hold his own with the other powers in Thedas.
I did end up using the red hart for my elven Inquisitor.

I used to go by race....Then I got Avvar pack and I love the drakolisk you get with it. I use him for everything!

I usually end up using the Green Dales Feral, as it is the mount that looks closest to my own horse.
