It finally has a name. Brand new official Baldur's Gate expansion pack.

I watched a stream of it just now, and figured I should give people a heads up. Here is what I picked up about it so far.

*Takes place 2 weeks after BG1.

* Most of the original voice actors have done new work for it (including David Warner).

* It takes place further north of Baldur's Gate

* The enemies will be Crusaders, for the most part.

* You can now equip a two handed weapon directly, even if you have a shield equipped. No need to swap out the shield first, and then swap weapons.

* New voice actor for Jaheira

* New portrait for Viconia (I think)

* A new Minsc battle-cry "Here comes 300 pounds of justice!!!"

* The area the expansion takes place is The High Moor

That's it for now. Looks pretty sweet.

Can't see the video, as I'm at work, but is this actually for BG, or just the silly overpriced "Enhanced Edition" that came out a couple of years back?

I'm sorry, but I can't get really excited about this for two reasons.

1. All the character development occurs in the second game, so none can happen in this game.
2. Nothing really important can happen in this game, since the events of the second are already set in stone.

It's for the Enhanced Edition.

Irenicus and Imoen might get some development. I think Dynaheir and Minsc has some stuff too.

Looks like some Bhaalspawn bits will be expanded upon as well. The main antagonist is a female crusader bhaalspawn.

Since this expansion will serve as a bridge between BG1 and 2, I am betting Warner shows up at the end. Still...its more Warner, so....Happy.

I'm sceptical but maybe it will be great. We'll see. Personally, for the reasons Draining Dragon mentioned, I would rather have had a new Baldur's Gate title that has nothing to do with the Baalspawn saga set many years (if not centuries) after Bioware's saga. I'm not really a fan of taking characters from someone else's game and then working on them.

That said, several of Beamdog's developers did work on the original games and although I have not played the Enhanced Editions of the Baldur's Gate games, I have heard that the additions Beamdog added to them in the way of characters and story haven't felt out of place.

This was my same reaction. :( Still stoked for Warner as expected though. Cautiously intrigued overall shall we say.

Since I'm in the "desperate rush to find ways to turn of the voices", that part I don't care about. Nothing is more aggravating to me than character VO in a text-driven game like BG. It drove me half insane in POE 'till I found out that cutting off the voice volume could save me from it (but then you lose voices outside of dialogue). It was like the ME Codex, but all the time
