Where was your Inquisitor 10 years ago?

I suppose the answer is obvious for Circle mages and Dalish elves, but the answer for everyone else should be interesting.

My Inquisitor was in Ostwick being raised to how to handle themselves as a noble, both in the courts and on the battlefield.

You know I wonder, it must of gotten around the Free Marches that there was a Dalish clan trapped on a mountain outside of Kirkwallfor 10 years, why didn't any of the other Dalish clans go to help them? Bad Lavellan clan! I don't know how to work around this :-/
Sorry, off topic. Writing my Lavellan's background just got me thinking
I suppose she would of been learning all about her People's history and legends...about the Creators...and Arlathan...and Fen'Harel. All that studying just to have it all come crashing down on her 10 years later X)

Most of my characters: Nothing of note.
My future planned dwarf? That's different story, I already posted it in the dwarf thread, I'll repost here.
So, backstory idea:
What if my character actually fought the Hero of Ferelden? They were one of the idiots you slaughtered your way through when taking down Jarvia... Except they survived. Barely. Sometimes you can survive sword and dagger wounds, especially if it was a big fight where you'll move right onto the next opponent as soon as an enemy drops and they're not doing any throat cutting to be sure (my warden certainly wasn't the type to do that). They would have been 16-18 at that time, making them roughly between 26 and 28 years on in DAI. I'm not going to pretend my Cadash was some badass back then, they were just one of the dozens of dwarves you cut down with little effort. Because of that, they have a bit of a grudge against them because all they knew of the HoF was that they showed up and killed or seriously injured pretty much every person in the carta because they were one of Bhelen's tools. What's that Dagna? It was a dark time and there was only one light? Yeah, well that light left me with a 15 inch scar across my entire torso and killed friends of mine all for political gain. But still, they do soften up about them after hearing everyone talk about how good they were and Morrigan saying that he's a good person who is a good father and all that stuff. And then (headcanon'd conversation here) Leliana tells them about how one of their ancestors in the body of a golem helped the HoF and was actually the golem they had fighting alongside them in the carta base. Somehow, knowing a living ancestor of theirs helped them do it is the final push that lets them let go of their internal grudge against them. After all, for a dwarf who still does ancestor worship having one of your ancestors help to kick your ass might be a holy sign that you deserved it. And even my dwarf will have to admit that the HoF was pretty impressive, the way they effortlessly took his overconfident ass down in the span of a second was actually pretty amazing when he thinks about it.
You like it? I'm thinking about doing this for my next playthrough, my first male character (dwarf, obviously).

Maharie Lavellan was a perfectly ordinary and bookwormish member of her clan, who spent her time learning all about being the next Keeper. My, how things change.
Harold "The Herald" Trevelyan was trying to forget all those boring Andrastian teachings they kept forcing him to learn, by hunting in the woods around the family estate in Ostwick by day, and hunting in the local taverns by night. ![]()
Dofni Cadash was just ordinary Carta muscle, making sure that operations ran smoothly and that any interference was dealt with accordingly.
Kubrie Adaar was a Valo-Kas mercenary and scout, living by her wits and being able to stab things without being seen.
Meghan Trevelyan (current Inquisitor) was in the Ostwick Circle, learning both how not to become an abomination and how to be a proper devout Andrastian. These conflicted sides of her nature trouble her to this day.

@Andy6915 are you going for a warrior or a rogue? So would your character still be bitter if he ever met the Warden again? Wouldn't that be an awkward introduction "hello I'm Warden Commander ____" "we've already met and I have the scars to prove it!"
Rogue. Heavy rogue though, I'll likely have him in legion of the dead heavy armor using silverite so a rogue can wear it. Warden was a warrior. And yes, it would be awkward. But as I said, they kinda forgive and get over it as more as DAI goes on and they hear more if them. Still, they would bring it up if they ever met. No reason not to.

Merathim Lavellan was infamous for wandering off constantly, especially when the clan stopped near a forest. The hunters would end up looking for her, oftentimes she would be found stuck in a tree. There was nothing more exciting for her than seeing how high she could get. It did get her in trouble with the Keeper, yet she persisted.

My mage was annoying his superiors about how they should prepare for the coming blight he's heard about. They shot him down. Then his desire for heroics and contributing to society slowly got crushed over 10 years... finally resigned that he'd never amount to anything like that.
Funny how that worked out. Be careful what you wish for.
I haven't thought about the others much yet.

Not being very old, she's still be at home. It'll depend a lot on your Inquisitor's age. Actually, my Inquisitor would be about the same age as the Hero of Ferelden, and Hawke, too.

That's pretty old. Both of them are nearing 40 now. Or mid 30s maybe.

Lorene Trevelyan was distancing herself from her family. Reason is, well, lets just say that the Trevelyans, while large, are rather "close"
(this was even more awkward in my head).

That would be fine though. Bioware said the Inquisitor can be anywhere between 20 and 40. Or something like that. Can't find the source.

Oh, I know. I was just confused, because they said "not being very old", but said they were the same age as Hawke. I could've sworn DA2 said they were like 25 when they left the blight.

Which one? Interesting.
I got the feeling the CE might've been the youngest, possibly.

The City Elf was 18 in DAO because that's the age City Elves get married I believe. So by the time Inquisition happens, the Warden is 29.
The Dwarf Noble had you somewhere in your twenties since Bhelen is your little brother and he is an adult.
The other origins were like DAI where the Warden was somewhere in an age range which went from late teens to mid twenties.

Rhiannon Lavellan: Stealing the Keeper's books and running off into the woods to read them. Getting in trouble for trying too much too early, and accidentally setting some aravels on fire as a result. After that, she became a much more responsible student and a little more wary on the dangers of her magic. She still liked to run off and be in the woods sometimes though, because adventure!
Elariel Lavellan: Becoming the clan's lead hunter, and spending most of her time alone hunting or scouting. Despite the Keeper's constant requests, she refused to teach any apprentices, and left that task to her second in command instead.
Nico Cadash: Living in Ferelden, trying to avoid the Blight with her mother. It was there that she heard that the archdemon was slain by a casteless surfacer (like her), and decided she wanted more out of life than petty crime. She converted to Andrastianism and worked to improve her standing in the Carta.
Anjali Adaar: Attempting to visit as many locations in Thedas as possible, and collecting momentos. Her experiences ranged from seeing her first dragon, staying in Kirkwall briefly until witnessing the arrival of the Qunari, and getting chased out of a village for 'corrupting one of the village girls with vile blood magic and the Qun'. She also read Varric's complete works, but would never admit it.
Zidane Trevelyan: Completing his Harrowing. The moment it was done, he started working the political scene in the Circle to get more influence and responsibility. His ambition was to rise as far as Vivienne, and ingratiated himself with Ostwick's court mage. He also received some visits from his family, now they were more confident he wouldn't spontaneously turn into an abomination.
Cathair Lavellan: Getting a considerable scar on his face when he protected the clan's Second from templars. This is what happens when your best friend is a complete show off, a mage, and the Dalish camp too close to a human town. The clan's lead hunter found them and had the pair mucking out halla for a year. On the plus side, he thinks the scar makes him look dashing.

My Trevelyan was an unruly teen doing his best to avoid any responsibilities. He was probably hanging around in shady taverns pretending to be a rogue and being mighty proud of his first stubble.
Adaar was also a teen, and the apostate in her mercenary band was teaching her magic.
Cadash was in her mid twenties and making a name for herself in the Carta.
Lavellan was learning to be a keeper and all the while causing loads of trouble.
Trevelyan mage was living a quiet life in the circle, worrying about her Harrowing.

My dwarf Inquisitor started as a rookie in the carta, after losing her older brother in a brawler fight against a carta lieutenant. Trying to search for the murderer and but caught the attention of the leader, who assign her to a specialist squad of silent criminals near Markham dealing in smuggling and stuffs i guess.
Until well, the conclave. She is still looking for the murderer though.

So they were a big incest family, and your character has special time with her father and other relatives? I hope she was an adult for that...
