My Trevelyan rogue was either studying history, elven lore and books on magic, or off bowhunting with her father and skipping out on stuffy parties.

Elven whores eh?

Well surely she and Solas got along due his own interests in elven whores.

Specifically during the events of DA:O. What was s/he doing?

I suppose the answer is obvious for Circle mages and Dalish elves, but the answer for everyone else should be interesting.

You know... I must thank you. I never gave this much thought until you started this thread.

My canon Inquisitor is a male Trevelyan warrior who was always destined for the templars, but because he's the "baby" they kinda kept putting it off to keep their youngest around; two older sibs are both married with their own young families.

During the Blight my guy was nineteen, so most of his time consisted of various self-improvement in the form of study (big on history, spurred by dad) -- the history Inquisition Perk is always the first one I take! -- and his physical training. He occasionally did the whole noble socializing thing, but generally tried to avoid it, partly due to the fact that other families kept throwing their daughters at him (he's gay). When the Blight happened I'm sure Ostwick also saw its fair share of Ferelden refugees, so because his family was involved in the Chantry, he did some work in helping to organize things, and was generally just around to lend his calming influence (he's one of those types) during that time of chaos.

[edit]

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one with a goody-goody (non-mage) Trevelyan. It seems like a nice split between dutiful sons and daughters and the rebellious types. /hi-five.

My current Inquisitor, Demetria Trevelyan, would be in her teens. She'd be causing trouble in Ostwick's circle and mostly getting away with it, because she's a favoured student. She hates Linnea (the b!tchy Mage you meet in Redcliffe's tavern) and enjoys annoying her. Whenever Demetria goes home to visit her family and friends, she loves spending time with them except for the boring noble parties.

I see my Lavellan as an unconventional and broad-minded Dalish mage, dedicated to knowledge and the arcane, and curious about the world and other cultures. She spent most of her time reading and studying magic and Elven history, but being curious about the world, she would often sneak off to the nearest human city to observe the way they lived. She befriended a number of city elves and even a few humans this way.

It was partly due to her experience with the humans that the Keeper decided she was the natural choice to observe the Conclave.

During the events of the Fifth Blight, she was 24 and on the cusp of mastering her magical training.

My dwarf was just trying to survive, smuggling for the Carta, mainly within the Free Marches. He never enjoyed that life much though. The Inquisition was his only true family.

When he was working for the Carta, he was always nervous he would catch the attention of one his brutal bosses. One time he witnessed his boss crush another's head like a lemon. It was not a pleasant life.

Therefore, he was always thankful for having a place in the Inquisition, having put the days of the Carta behind him.

I love all of your ideas...cool posts here.

Well, most of them. I'm a little iffy on the incest Trevelyans, but maybe it can work. :D

Yeah, I like these little snippets from the past for the Circle mage (I built a whole tale out of the mage Vivienne mentions as well.. the one that kills your mentor). My other normal Trevelyan doesn't seem to have any of this.

My male human mage was in the Ostwick Circle sitting at a table, when one of his friends came up and offered him a book about an ancient elven artifact that focused magical energy. My mage scoffed and said, "Like I'll ever need that."

I laughed really, really hard on this! Good one, sir!

----------------

So, ten years ago...

...Mirinia Trevelyan was 17 years old and her parents hired some teachers to finally teach her proper behaviour and how to charm potential husband. Although she was always a good child and learnt everything they wanted, she found that noble-thingy a bit boring and preferred either hiding in dark corners of their estate and listening or roaming in nearby forest with a bow and shoot random objects and scare poachers.

...Nettle Adaar was 13 years old and mourning for her teacher, another Tal-Vashoth mage, who was killed on a job and couldn't finish her training.

...Gerta Cadaash was 20 years old and was already working as muscle for Carta.

...Melania Tricia ? [fanfic inquisitor, not gameplay one; surname not decided yet] was 15 years old and was closed in a lab, where she was experimented on and trained to become a weapon.

My first plays are more or less usually self-inserts, so she was a human fem Trevelyan mage. It was kinda freaky to hear her mention the mentor, Lydia, as that is my actual mother's name. So naturally, I picked the "she was like a mother to me" dialog option.

My mother has this thing (especially after DA2) where she chides Bioware for "always killing off the mothers." It made the whole thing hilarious.

My Lavellan rogue would be learning to become a hunter for his clan, while observing human settlements from the treetops with curiosity and fear.

My Qunari was busy fulfilling mercenary contracts in the Free Marches. though in My Headcanon he just ran the numbers and chose the contracts and left Shokrakar to run the group while my PC was the personal bodyguard of  Bann Trevelyan =)

Decided to restart, and went with the default name for Trevelyan. She just does what she wants, and ended up joining Templars on a hunt for an apostate by accident.

My Lavellan was 15 and attending the funeral of her mother, father and brother- all died due to a darkspawn attack though her brother died because he succumbed to the taint. This was also the time she became appointed as the new First to the Keeper (she was second until her brother, the original first, passed away) This marked the end of her youth- she was forced to study hard because while she learnt the same thing as her brother, she was allowed to be a bit more carefree and lax as a second- this left her to be not as prepared as her brother had been. Keeper Istimaethoriel was brutal in training her- this consequently meant she had to give up her friends and spent most of her time studying/reading and learning while her clan was constantly on the move to escape the blight.

Ebasit Adaar was doing odd jobs here and there in Orlais and Ferelden.

The one that he remembers most is a job with the Blackstone Irregulars to escort a caravan from a port in Jadar to a place called Soldier's Peak. The problem was that Loghain had blockaded the Orlesian-Ferelden Border which meant that the caravan had to travel through a "short cut" that was recommended to the caravan driver.

Said short cut ran through the deep roads and that was darkspawn territory.

Especially during a Blight.

The Caravan made it through the "short cut" thanks to quick thinking, ruthless calculus and a healthy bit of luck and largely had an uneventful trip to Soldier's Peak. Adaar got his promised payment (increased in size since a lot of mercenaries wouldn't get to live to get their cut) and didn't say no to an offered bonus from Levi Dryden and was offered an opportunity to work for the Wardens who'd liberated Soldier's Peak from demons and undead.

Realizing that Ferelden was in the middle of a Civil War while darkspawn were invading in a Blight...and remembering the close call in the "short cut", one should not be surprised that Adaar turned down the offer and left for Highever to sail for the Free Marches.

Adaar

In 9:31, a young and fresh-faced Adaar had been a mercenary for only six months when their company attempted to establish a reputation in Kirkwall.

Unfortunately, their kith were forced to abandon their plans when the Qunari landed in the city, leading to racial tension and extreme suspicion towards anyone who happened to have horns and grey skin... which unfortunately included most of their group.

With the legitimate fear that they'd be attacked by the other races under the mistaken belief they were part of the Qun (having already encountered an overzealous blonde sister already trying to stir a mob), or that the Qunari would branded them Tal-Vashoth (even if they weren't) and hunt them down, Adaar and their company quickly left the city, hoping to try their luck in Tantervale.

Cadash

The twenty-five year old Cadash was in Orzammar during the Fifth Blight, attempting to do some black market trading to the various nobles when the entire city ended up being put in a lockdown due to Endrin's death, trapping them in the city for the duration of the succession crisis.

Despite attempting to lie low, Jarvia eventually caught wind of a member of the surface Carta operating on her turf and ordered Cadash be brough to her, but luckily the Hero of Ferelden launched their assault on the Carta headquarters and wiped them out before that order was carried out.

Cadash eventually left the city after the succession crisis ended, with some nice loot stolen from Jarvia's headquarters for their troubles, as well as a copy of some prime blackmail material confirming Bhelen's assassination of Trian, to use as possible leverage to allow the Carta to get their foothold back in Orzammar once more.

Lavellan

In 9:31, Clan Lavellan found themselves camping midway between Kirkwall and Wildervale, having been forced to move further inland due to the heavy influx of refugees who'd settled in the Marches after running from the Blight.

The thirteen year old Lavellan had just won apprenticeship to become First, much to the disdain of the other potentials, who felt that she did not take the role nearly as seriously as she should and privately complained of favouritism due to Lavellan's surrogate daughter relationship with the Keeper. Lavellan took the responsibility (and derision) in her stride, rapidly absorbing the lore and history that she was being taught and proving that she was right for the task, despite her somewhat eccentric and irreverent demeanour.

Most of that time is lost in a flurry of old and dusty tomes, but Lavellan clearly recalls one night in particular when unable to sleep, she went for a walk and saw a huge dragon flying high in the sky from the direction of Sundermount, an event that people would try to convince her in the years to come was just a dream.

Trevelyan

When asked about their memories of the Fifth Blight, Trevelyan is ashamed to admit that most of the mages in the quiet and dull Circle of Ostwick almost let it slip under their notice entirely, with the first they heard of it being the talk of Templars complaining about the refugees in the city.

Instead, the fifteen year old Trevelyan's priorities weren't so much focused on the possible end of the word, but instead on how to act as entitled and imperious as possible, irritating most of the Enchanters with their arrogance despite their academic and magical brilliance.

It took until a particular mortifying moment of embarrassment that coincided with their Harrowing, the events of which everyone present agreed never to discuss again, that Trevelyan finally learned some much-needed humility.

Maharie Lavellan was a perfectly ordinary and bookwormish member of her clan, who spent her time learning all about being the next Keeper. My, how things change.

Harold "The Herald" Trevelyan was trying to forget all those boring Andrastian teachings they kept forcing him to learn, by hunting in the woods around the family estate in Ostwick by day, and hunting in the local taverns by night.

Dofni Cadash was just ordinary Carta muscle, making sure that operations ran smoothly and that any interference was dealt with accordingly.

Kubrie Adaar was a Valo-Kas mercenary and scout, living by her wits and being able to stab things without being seen.

Meghan Trevelyan (current Inquisitor) was in the Ostwick Circle, learning both how not to become an abomination and how to be a proper devout Andrastian. These conflicted sides of her nature trouble her to this day.

Sounds a lot like my Topaz Lavellan

Sobek Lavellan my elf rogue which I just finished playing a few days ago was gathering food for her people and providing security. She even acted at times as an Ambassador for her clan as well as she was a diplomatic rogue

I've got another Lavellan planned for the next game after my current one. Not sure what her story will be yet, but I'm picturing a fierce warrior type, without much use for anyone who doesn't have pointy ears... Though that could change.

Well my 2 Lavellan stories were back to back so I'm going with something different next time. I'm going to play a human male mage kind of similar to my first quizzy except my first Inquisitor was a female. I've not played any male characters yet so will be interesting to see how that one goes. I'm tempted to go warrior soon as it's the only class I've not had a character for in Inquisition but haven't got one planned out yet. My  3 playthroughs i've done have been 2 mages 1 rogue and my male Travelyan will be my 3rd mage. Mages are my favourite class though so I expect I'l be playing more mages than anything else as I love the idea of feeling powerful and I find playing a mage makes me feel that way on Dragon Age.

Yup, I think mages in DA:I are definitely fun too. But I've gotten side-tracked from my current mage and am taking one of my rogues through JoH. I dunno which I like the best, but as long as I can add fade-touched silverite to their armor, they're all fun, each in their own way. :P

The Inquisitor  didn't occur until DAI prologue after the character creation for me.
I gave it a jolt of lightning on a dark and stormy Geheimnisnacht night, simply because to be able to create a background story for this remarkable specimen ,
(who is proficient at all of these things, Having the military know-how and survival skills of the Quanari merc, the educated courtly nous of the Noble, the arcane smarts of the Circle Mage, plus the mark etc.,)

a lot of mental gymnastic would have been required.

13 year old Riona Lavellan was sneaking into the woods to watch her crush (8 Years her senior) barter with human traders over an exchange of food for pelts.

She always had a thing for older elven men...  *nudgenudge winkwink*
