Hey, everyone. For the sake of transparency I thought I'd let you know about three key changes that have happened starting today (technically late last night in Edmonton time - yes, we apparently have our own time here...)

1. Changes to Rare Armor Drops

The armor drops from the chests have been changed slightly. Before you could get any armor for most classes (There were no AW armors or any of the variants for katari, necro, and alchemist). Now all classes are equally represented but there are only armor drops for the primary armor its color variants. This means that (if you don't already have) the 2nd tier armor and its variants you have to craft them. This was done to line-up with the new progression of the class armors with regards to armor rating.

One side effect is that those who were close to full inventories will now be able to receive more unsalvagable items (if you didn't craft this variants). We will be raising the number of items you can carry sometime very soon to accommodate for this.

2. Changes to Potion Drop Rates

Potions gained from chests will now stop appearing if you hit 255 of that specific potion. This mostly effects people who have been playing a long time but it allows for you to only get potions you're actually using if you happen to be at 255 (or more) with ones you are not using.

And if you're curious what happens if you cap out on all of them: No, you don't get a secret prize, you'll just starting getting flooded with basic healing potions :)

3. Changes to Unique Dragon Weapons (Perilous) and Hakkon Weapons Drop Rates

These special Dragon Drop items are now gated by your item score to prevent brand new Players for purposely (or accidentally) getting them and bypassing the majority of the progression of the game. The scores you have to pass are quite low (roughly 300/800 items respectively).

Additionally, the drop rates for Hakkon weapons now scale based on how many total Hakkon weapons you have. Your first one should be pretty good odds (~15-20%) and drastically reduce after each one.

(Oh and you can no longer get two of the dagger)

Any update for the players who already have two daggers?

What's the current drop rate for the T4 accessory?

So no spawn-camping fix yet? Excellent.

I'll see if I can get a report on how many people that actually is and decide what to do about it. If it's less than 10 I'm inclined to let them be super awesome but I may offer to swap their less damage one for an item of their choice (or maybe something new next patch). I definitely won't be just deleting it from them without any compensation.

The radius was cut in half as of about 12 minutes ago. We'll see if that fixes it - I don't really want to make it so creatures can spawn on your head...

Ive just had 2 wipes where shadows have literally spawned on top of me. As in, within a meter.

Are you psychic, Luke? It's like you're reading my mind. :D

Excellent. Making sure those of us that couldn't get them as fast as those in the first two days will get them even slower now. ^_^ Brilliant!

Dumbest update ever. Multiple arcane horrors and revenants now spawn on nightmare, often spawning on top of you. Drop rates are reduced for me now too.

Revert the spawn camping. Ive also had 2 instances where ive died due to spawns.

Cant have the top 5% of players enjoy and complete nightmare. Got to limit it to the top 0.01% who can survive shadows landing on their head! Good job bioware. You never fail to screw things up.

Is there a way to tell what item bucket you're in?

Are the droprates 15%, 7.5%, 5%, 2% (as discussed previously).. or different?  Thanks.

Check amount of gold spent in Prestige -> General tab.

If you spend mostly on large chests, then 800 items = 160 large chests = 192000 gold spent

on medium chests = 193333 gold spent

etc..

Of course Luke will have a better answer

Working on a way to show this to you in a much better way.

My other question:

What if I salvage my Hakkon weapons, can I reset back to the highest droprate?

Yes, it just tracks how many total you have on your account, not how many you have received.

Hey Luke, could you please explain why youve just decided to screw over half the people who play and enjoy nightmare? I dont see how its possible to complete unless you have a full team with at least 2 or 3 high promotion players. With the combination of Arcane Horrors spawning on top of your head and the already difficult enemies, I really dont see how this is doable for casual players like myself. I dont have any hakkon weapons and I most likely never will now. Im certainly not going to be grinding nightmare in the state that it is at the moment.

What difficulty do you suggest I play at? Perilous is far to easy due to the armor buffs and nightmare is impossibly hard for me now? Should I just quit? Because thats what you seem to be suggesting I do by implementing the changes you are.

A better solution would have been to create more spawn points than you can block with 4 players. But I guess they have to maintain their reputation of completely breaking stuff through overzealous fixes.

Even in ME3 you could still speedfarm platinum in 10 minutes after all the anti-farming measures. I'm pretty sure it was only a very small portion of the player base doing 10-minute NM runs (not that I got much to show for it). I'm gonna have to see how this will affect normal gameplay, but it doesnt sound good.

It's a bit lame that we have to salvage a weapon first if we want to find a higher damage variant :/

Was not nighmare really hard before this change you being a casual with no hakkon weapons and all?
