I don't really think old gen is that limiting. Lot of those things have been done in old gen games before, Bioware games included. However I think frostbite added limitations and especially working with it and old gen. Hairstyles suffer from bad design, some are fine to me, not on old gen so much though since quality of hair is nowhere around new gen.

See hair was never an issue for me. Although, hair has always look hideous (imo) throughout the franchise. Maybe that's why it didn't faze, that and I only ever like one or two styles.

But that facial hair! That was atrocious, I feel sorry for every beared Inquisitor out there. Facial hair and eyelashes.

I'm planning on getting a ps4, but not till the Uncharted trilogy is released. As far as buying another copy of DAI, I will buy a copy, not new, but used and at a much lower price

I am as well, as I had planned, only I'm buying a used PS4 now. It's cheaper. I'm cheap. :P

(But I swear I have a reason for my frugality)

Only because I want to play Bloodborne and HOPEFULLY The Last Guardian. I AM NOT MISSING THAT!

DA:I PS4 will definately be bought used. That and any other BW/EA game.

Well facial hair and eyebrowns to me looked like they were drawn with paint. Hair is shiny as heck depending on what colors you decide so you pretty much have to go with colors that aren't that aren't so shiny. But yep it's not like hair has been Bioware's strongest point ever and hairs that we got did have some design flaws like escaping hairlines, bald spot in middle of qunaris hair with bun one and tons of shaved one's.

Agreed. I forgot about eyebrows. LOL.

Oh man, reminds me of lips. Many a character scraped cause of too shiny lips. Of course I found the subtle green hue during the character creation process, didn't help the situation any.

Dragon Age is trash anyways, hopefully Bioware make a new IP and move on.

Or you could move on. That sounds even better, right? :) ;)

Now, as a fan and customer for ten years or so I am absolutely livid over this sudden decision to cut off DLC support from the old gen console users. It isn't fair or morally right (morality in the business world?) to simply abandon a portion of your fanbase due to whatever reason, AND to not offer any sort of apology (that I've seen anyways), but instead treat the situation as if it were a good thing, that you're doing us a favor?

About that... I asked Mike Laidlaw about it on twitter. Apparently, they're not allowed to give us an explanation for why they dropped support. They chose not to make an apology, however, you can't argue that. And they really, really should. They should have to begin with. But the fact that he can't talk about it would be odd if the reason was because of out-dated hardware. If it was, I don't see why they couldn't say that and try to save face by arguing better content. As it is, it seems more like they cut oldgen for financial reasons, something he would actually not be able to discuss. So I'm sad, and even angrier now.

In fairness, if this is a case of mandated silence then it could be the kind that also include apologies and explanations. It's little to no comfort, I know, but I feel like I should mention it.

Oh wow, definately not pleased with this or THAT. Way to add insult to injury.

:crying:

It does seem supicious, as you've mentioned, if this was about hardware limitation, shouldn't they have they been able to discuss that with their customers by now? Certainly that reasoning would enable them to twist this situation to their favor. I don't know. I don't like it, not at all.

Thank you for passing this on.

That was a seriously low blow on EA/Bioware's part (whoever was actually making that decision). Like I understand, as a business, that cutting losses and focusing on the areas where things seem to be selling the most makes sense, but it's absolutely awful and irresponsible on their part to leave the old gen console players hanging dry like that. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I also get that it's a weird period of time, as certain consoles begin to phase out, and others in, but they really should have taken into consideration what limits there would be for the game they envisioned on the different consoles, and really committed to either supporting them all, or only looking ahead to the next gen. Making that decision now (if that's the front they're spinning(?))...well, I think all old gen console players should be awarded a solid discount at the very least for the next gen versions of the games. It's tacky to try to spin dropping a few hundred bucks on a new console and a whole new game you already paid for as "good".

If nothing else, I sincerely hope this debacle is something they never again repeat.

Agree completely.

I am somewhat stunned at how little people seem to care about this. The irresponsiblity on BioWare/EA's part. Perhaps it happens so frequently (companies not caring how they treat their customers etc.) that the majority of people simply just accept and move on (I'm not directing this to anyone on these boards per se).

They may not be directly affected today, but perhaps they will be in the future. You'd think they'd want to be sure something like this won't happen to them in the future. I'm afraid it will, if BioWare/EA is permitted to pull these kinds of nasty business tactic off with no resistance.

It was definitely a lousy move by EA (I suspect it was not Bioware's decision) to drop support, but really, the game never should have been released on 7th gen at all. DAI pushes the technical limits of the 8th gen machines (and powerful PCs), and based on what had to be cut out of PS3/360 version (and the things that reportedly got cut from all versions because of it) just to make it work on that platform it's pretty obvious that it was a struggle for the devs to even get it to run on the old hardware. The simple fact is that once a new console gen launches, the old one is over and it's time to move on, both for developers and players. That said, it was completely wrong for EA/Bioware to sell you the game then pull a bait and switch and drop support for it.

Just seems kind of dumb. Apologies cost PR people nothing; they don't even have to mean them. They can at least pretend they're feeling a little regret at "having" to do this.

I really am stunned too. Just because you have a new platform doesn't mean you shouldn't be shocked and outraged by this decision. I mean, I have an Xbox One, and no one I know personally is affected, but that hasn't stopped me from feeling like I have a duty to be a bit of a vanguard about the issue.

Agreed. They shouldn't have bothered releasing DA:I for old gen, especially if it was going to be abandoned as it is.

Agreed as well. Either make the game on all platforms or on new ones (I'd have preferred the latter), but don't release the game on all platforms and then suddenly, without warning, stop support for 2 of them. It's not reasonable for people to expect that that might happen.

I agree, it is seldomly done for sensible reasons and it seldomly helps but unfortunately it is still done all the same.

I just "love" the general tone of that whole blog/announcement thing.

Awesome! I get to import my save... with what (new) console and game?

Not to sound patronizing in the least, but good on you. The world needs more people like you. People that care, but are not directly affected by whatever situation.

The save importer is better than just telling the old gens people to buy a new console, new game, and start all over from scratch. Apologies come in many different forms, and I believe that the save importer was an apology.

It was, like I said in the other thread from a business standpoint it's an apology in the form of "making the best of a bad situation"

Honestly, with the way companies in this industry behave these days, you can't assume anything. I don't know if you followed the Batman Arkham Knight PC launch fiasco, but I doubt anyone could have predicted a stuff up of that magnitude. Game companies have proven over a period of years that they simply can't be trusted to deliver a working product at launch, or to provide adequate after sales support. That's why you should never pre-order (it just encourages them) and wait for the reviews and performance benchmarks before you decide if the game is worth buying. Bottom line, game companies can't trusted. They will lie to your face without hesitation.

Maybe, Mortal Kombat X launched in a far worse state than Arkham Knight earlier this year - MK was also a Warner published game.

You seriously think the save importer was made in lieu of typing words like 'sorry' and 'we apologise'? They made us a nice Keep knock off from the goodness of their hearts?

It's incentive, they want last gen players to go out and give money to Microsoft/Sony and re-buy DAI from EAware. If Bioware ever had integrity it's long gone, just look at the DAI item packs they want us to buy. There's no apology and this isn't about making better games it's a money grab.

Yeah, Warner is developing as bad a rep as Ubisoft and EA for broken launches, but with the added bonus of even worse DLC practices.

It does us absolutely no good without an upgraded copy of the game.

Implied apologies are not the same as actually "saying" it.
