I like being able to see some male flesh for once.  Women in the series have often ran around in impractical armor, so it's nice to have the role reversed now and again.  The rest of us need eye candy too you know!

True. Remember that god awful two piece thing female Dalish armor used to be? Ugh. That ruined playing the Dalish origin as a female for me for a while, until I learned you can find a studded leather armor 5 minutes into the origin in the ruin.

I don't do multiplayer so I'll take your word on it Dave darling.  I do however want to see what she looks like in pants now.  For science.

I though it was about humiliation. Dress your slaves scantily, revealing their bodies while hiding their face. Underline the fact that they were, are and will be nothing but objects under your command. After all they've got that massive collar around their necks. Who cares if some uncultured barbarian thinks they look silly? Their amusement will lower their guards making it easier to hit them where they hurt. 

Also, if they are scantily dressed it's easy to get a nasty hit on them. serrated blade slashing a bare arm must be quite painful than if it smacked a chainmail guard, more pain=more powerful blood magic so win win there. (Unless you have to be the one to cause the pain, but the Gladiator should have his back to his/her magister, so it's a simple matter of jamming a blade in there.)

It can also show how well off you are, able to toss your slaves away like candy, because no matter how many you use, you have millions more to spare. 

 

Or just eye candy for those who like boys. That's possible too.

This is a perfect example of someone trying to control the conversation. You can assert all day long that your thread has nothing to do with gender politics and you'll be wrong all day long. Would you like to know what made it relevant to gender politics? Probably not, but I'll tell you anyway. You made the statement that the showing of venatori underwear caused you to view them as "ridiculous" and "not a threat". When I saw the pic I couldn't help but think about how this topic would be very different if a woman were in that pic. I also reflected back to how many times I've made the very point that many costumes, like Isabela's, made them look ridiculous and hard to take seriously. And, I was told so often that it was wrong. It strikes me as funny that no one has told you that you are wrong yet when a man is pictured. That's how we got here.

 

You don't own or control the conversation. You don't get to shut down my take on the conversation just because you don't like it or because I took it someplace that you don't want. You can ignore me all you want. But, you don't get to silence me. Be as nasty as you want. Try to bully me and tell me to 'get the **** off'. Not going anywhere.

Viewing someone as foolish and not a threat who is wielding a couple of brutal daggers (or a shield and sword) and is quite skilled in their use, based simply on the fact that they are not wearing pants, is itself damned foolish.

Well, contrary to popular belief, most people in the medieval militaries didn't wear metal armor.    They were lucky to have stiff leather.   Most yes... wore normal cloth. 

 

Metal was expensive.    You don't give expensive stuff to the cannon fodder troops, that the other side can simply loot if the battle goes poorly.   Then turn around and use it against you.

I honestly didn't notice that the guards had no pants on the first time I played the game! It didn't help that I could not understand a word Sera said. I finally had to turn on subtitles to understand her!

This^^ This all nonsense about realistic armour if we go with realism we fight with pitchforks. In war if you lucky you get gun if not you go behind someone who have gun if he shoot someone you take enemy gun if he dies you take his.

  In your defense, they are Orlesians.  If you didn't understand what Sera was saying, I could easily see why you might just think, "Ugh, silly Orlesian fashion..." and dismiss the whole thing.
