What would you change in the original Trilogy

Changes i would make are the addition of both Traynor and Vega much earlier in the franchise( Me1 or 2) .
I would introduce Traynor because in ME3 ahe grows as a person'( Remember her fear at the start to wanting reapers dead) and i believe she would benefit hugely from more development time. Plus we then get a solid specialist instead of multiple.
Vega is the same, he starts as this soldier with the tragic leadership story( make it about slavers instead of collectors). Over the course of the trilogy with shepards influence he joins N7 and learns to lead
The biggest change i'd make is in 2, it feels out of placr and i'd probably make the collector thing a really small part of if it present at all, instead i would make 2 be about developing allies and have the reapers arrive at the end.
3 would then be a full scale battle against reapers, visitinf planets directing war assets and fleets etc before a final confrontation with Harbinger who would play the childs role in a different capacity.

If you're interested, there's a similar thread here ![]()
Personally, I am fine with both Traynor and James being only introduced in ME3, even though I am a big fan of James and could always go for more Vega ![]()
James' decision on Fehl Prime and how it tied in with Shepard already fighting the Reapers at the same time, rendering his choice ultimately irrelevant and thus even more tragic is something I would have not liked seen gone to waste. I feel like there would have not been such a huge impact on his life/character if he was up against anything else but Collectors.
And I feel like ME2 would need more plot and less squad mates, but I enjoy it anyway.

Speaking of Vega, the part where FemShep can rape him, to put it bluntly? Yeah, that. Remove all of that.

Do you really think THIS is rape?

Honestly, the biggest thing for me that I would have liked was for the ME1 style of music to continue throughout the series. I really missed that ambience that was present in the original, like The Wards, The Presidium, Noveria. The ME1 hubs had excellent music. I would have preferred to see the continuation of this ethereal ambient music within the hub locations. The ME2 and ME3 scores were excellent. However, they were quite typical for a game, whereas the ME1 score had its own unique charm.

When a man does it, it's called rape, so yeah. Getting someone drunk so they'll sleep with you is pretty morally wrong.

That's not how I see it at all. She's not the one getting him drunk, he ultimately is. She only asks what would be needed for him to reconsider, and HE said both alcohol AND a once in a lifetime night.
He considers it, he's tempted to have that night, he even tells her that. But he needs the drinks to actually get over the fact that Shepard is still his commander and to get rid of his shyness. James holds himself back by Alliance regulations and the alcohol is what he needs to let go of all this and go for that night with her.
There's nothing rapey in that. James could've still refused, he's a strong man, I think he could've handled that. But he chose to roll along with it, and he even talks about it with Cortez, who tells Shepard that James was conflicted about it, and that it was sweet (noone would say it's "sweet" if James would've been really pressured into it! Especially not good-hearted guys like Cortez), and that Shepard and James deserve each other.
There's a lot in the dialogue that shows that in the end, James himself chose it. He had his doubts, yes, but it was mostly his own rules holding him back, and if he didn't want to spend the night with Shepard, he wouldn't have.
The same goes for reversed roles. If a man asks a woman what it would take and she suggests alcohol and goes along with it, it's not rape. She agrees out of her own terms.
It's not like Shepard put something in a drink and gave it to James without him knowing it, then dragged him into her bedroom and did it against his will.

Actually, it is still rape, since you can't give consent to something while intoxicated, no matter how strong a man or woman you are. So, when you get someone drunk, which is what happens regardless of how you try to dress it up, and continue to give them more and more alcohol until they relent on their inhibitions, it's rape. There's no dressing it into something else.

I meant that James could've refused from the beginning. But he goes on and tells her what it would require. It would've been easy at that point for him to say "Look, I told you already, I'm not interested." But the thing is that he really is interested.
And like I said. It's not even Shepard that gets James drunk. He's doing it himself. This is certainly different. Shepard's only part in this whole thing was to ask what it would take for James to see her as a woman instead of the commander. Doesn't sound like rape...
If James needs alcohol to take what he wants, then it is that way, that doesn't make it rape on Shepard's side. How can you still consider it rape if he wants Shepard too? And I do think he has a crush on her, judging from him getting all shy when she gets serious with the flirting.
I mean, he has no problem hooking up with Ash, right? And the difference between these two women is that one is his hero, commander and role model. Someone he admires and has a huge respect for.

not going to touch on ^above topic but I'd love to smooth out the narrative... they probably won't make a remake but I could dream.
Mass Effect 1
- Start the game with a unique introductions like in Dragon Age Origins. Instead of picking out your personal and military history; you should get to play a young teenage Shepard on Earth or on Mindoir or with Spacer family and then the story advance to Shepard's military history particularly on the psychology profile. You play as Shepard fighting waves of Batarian slavers and varrens during Blitz or Shepard fighting waves upon waves of Tresher Maws while everyone died around you or Shepard fighting Batarian slavers on Torfan and along the way, you go full on merciless psychopath on everyone and your squad died one by one. And then the game move forward to 2183 with the episode one Babylon 5 tribute.
- Ashley exist as Normandy's original team but she was the one who used to live and serve on Eden Prime and she became traumatized when she found her old teammates dead and became husks. No damsel in distress Ash and Jenkins stays alive and didn't get fridged! And a chance encounter with Jacob at Eden Prime... or make him Ashley's ex-boyfriend or something.
- Bring back the female ambassador from ME Revelation and pit her against Udina.
- Garrus need a better explanation on why he quit the C-Sec. Introduce his father and then a subplot with him giving a big show of rebellion. There you have to choose whether to offer him on the Normandy or go to Omega.
- Replace Dr Michel with Rahna who became a doctor right after BaAt. What a small world, let's all have six degrees of separation here... and love triangle of sorts.
- Introduce Hendel Mitra as Kaidan's friend who work at Grissom Academy. Kinda like Anders and Karl. I just don't like the implication that Rahna broke his heart as a teenager and suddenly he turned gay in 2186.
- Right after Shepard gain Normandy, Captain Anderson should be promoted to Rear Admiral Anderson. Mikhailovich doesn't need to exist. And he should be the quest giver about the missing marines and we learn about Hades' Dogs from him and later he assign Shepard to find Admiral Kahoku... and then proper Cerberus introduction and maybe a cameo of Miranda.
- Merge Liara and Shiala together. Make Liara an older former Asari commando who had a fallout with her mother, who ended up pursuing an academic career but was kidnapped by Saren and being forced to meld with a Thorian in exchange for the cipher. No damsel trapped in a bubble trope. No weird "this is my first time and I am really young by Asari standards" conversations. Better explanation why she have high-level combat-grade biotics even though she spent half a decade in ruins and publishing papers. And make Liara suffering indoctrination for better part of trilogy.
- More Quarians and Turian politics or quarians and turians in general.
- Aria was hinted after spring cleaning the merc gangs on various planets.
- Collectors should be introduced as well. Maybe as rumors or such
- Fight Saren solo.
...still thinking more on this...

1) I'd really need to replay this to decide what to change. I can't really remember much that stood out.
2) The Virmire Sacrifice returns as a Collector modified boss, interupting the conversation with the Survivor. Both squadmates knocked out and the Survivor as a temporary squadmate.
3) Rewrite the ME2 Squadmate missions to where they are temporary squadmates. Monestary gets Morinth is you choose to save her from Samara. (Though her sister may not be so happy about that choice.)
For all three, make Armax Arena it's own game. As you unlock characters / weapons / mods in the main game, they unlock in the arena. (I'd really like to have both Ashley and Kaiden in the arena, or Morinth and Samara, just for giggles if not for anything else. I usually use Wrex and Grunt.)
