I'm taking #666 because I'm really, really malicious. You wouldn't believe how malicious I can be.

There isn't 666 spots, only 665.

How about #13?

You're just jealous because you're not as malicious as I am.

Impressive stuff again TNS, you're almost half decent at this game ...

@BloodBeforeTears - You are newer to these parts obviously. The objective modding debate has been going on for years. Occasionally it comes in the form of a constructive debate (like you're trying to have here - congrats for being civil). Most of the time it turns into a huge flame war with many russelized jim jams. Then some posters start taking sides, except for posters like myself who don't actually care either way.

This isn't a competition (and even if it was, how many could compete vs that game play, modded objective or no?). Take it for what it is, there are many things in those videos many of us can use as an example to improve our own gameplay.

I hear you.  And your comment about the gameplay is spot on - either way, objectives modded or no, the gameplay is just as impressive.  Truth be told, I also don't care either way, because it is not my work.

1. 'Setting a poor example' - Firstly, I am not asking others to replicate this. I want to sub-20 and I want to save hours of frustration to do this. I am not encouraging others or setting poor examples. If someone wants to mod their coalesced after watching my solos, it's their personal choice.

If your viewers admire your work, they will emulate you, this is inevitable.

2. 'Malicious Individuals' - Really? How do credits in-game correspond to real life money? That relation only works one way - you can use real money to get more credits but not the other way around. That claim about fraudulent use etc. seems very silly to me.

Like I said, I'm probably in the minority here.  Granted, it is not as bad as WoW or Diablo online (disclaimer: I have never played either), as it is my understanding that in those games, it was possible to sell weapons, items, etc, to others for real money, on ebay for example.  Although you cannot do this in ME3, I am sure that in the eyes of EA/BioWare, credit hacking is not looked highly upon.

Here's another interesting tidbit I haven't told you - the ghost hazard solo (17:10) was done without objective modding. I got hack, pizza, targets I believe. So, unless I tell you that I modded the objectives, you have no way of knowing. So, would you rather have me conceal the objective modding aspect and make these solos 'legit' according to you and a few others? I wouldn't.

I appreciate your honesty.

If you still think it devalues my effort, so be it. I did the solo, liking it or not is the viewers choice. You've made your opinion clear. But statements like 'setting a poor example', 'encouraging others to cheat', 'malicious individuals' etc. really irk me. I don't mind a healthy discussion but if you're just going to say these sort of stuff, I'd suggest you don't post here (I am only saying this because this is my thread).

I just want you to be aware that others look up to you and admire your work.  Your work would be just as impressive whether or not the objectives were modded, that is all.

If objective modding were not possible, then eventually, SOMEONE would luck into triple Packages on Glacier. That person would likely have a faster time than any equivalent player on that map, because Packages are the fastest objective to do. Thus would begin a huge debate over whether that person's fast time was legitimate, or only due to the luck of triple Packages, etc. etc. etc.

By modding objectives to give triple Packages all the time, the playing field is leveled. You want to test your mettle on Glacier solos, you mod for triple Packages, and now no-one can claim that anyone was luckier than someone else due to objectives RNG.

= = =

In a bid to be entered into the malicious people club, I would like to request a series of modded games where all three objectives are Devices. Who can solo the fastest now?!

I claim the title of Malicious Individual Club Member #1. I have no idea what it means, but it sounds awesome. Who's taking #2?

Club has already been founded and my wife is the original member. You're free to challenge her for the title but the last individual got his spine ripped out then beaten to death with it. (I know you should be already dead and unable to feel pain when your spine is ripped out but she is so mean it worked for her.)

You qualify. Pick your number :)

Also, use of logic. Reported.

watched this video... seeing the drell playing with that sniper rifle was very good, it made me blush and giggle quite a bit especially after he reloaded.

The gameplay was good too! Hot great stuff as always.

Awesome choice of kit, awesome gameplay, awesome solos. You even inspired me to make some of my own (scrubbier) attempts, at least on the easy maps which I guess qualifies me for the malicious person title.

congrats!! impressive!

stupid question:
how fast (dpi) is your mouse setting?

when I sniper I put it on 600-800 (very slow)
but your mouse seems pretty fast.

I don't have a problem with people modding the objectives.

HOWEVER, it would be very interesting to see how they manage the other ones.

Actually it is a pity that we can't see that.

Honestly, I have no idea. I use a very basic Logitech mouse, which doesn't let me modify/check advanced settings like DPI.

Edit: According to DPI analyzer website, it's ~900. I have no idea how accurate it is though. I decreased my in-game mouse sensitivity after a few solos - so it's not uniform throughout.

It's simpler to set your mouse to whatever DPI is best for your normal use, and use the game option to adjust the sensitivity.

Some of the R.A.T. mice have a thumb button that halves the sensitivity while it's held, which is great for snipers.

Low DPI ( up to ~1000) is generally superior for all kinds of aiming, not just sniping.

yes, I change the DPI settings via mouse-button all the time.

depending if I am

  • sniping
  • using a rapid fire gun (where you can adjust while firing)
  • using an "unsubtle" closerange shotgun like the Raider

also: I like gaming mouses because I assigned the thumb buttons and the wheel.

(I use it for 3rd power, OPS pack, etc.)

1st and 2nd power I have on Q and E

I am interested in hearing your allocation.

On a side-note:

When I realized that the Talon Soldier resets your keyboard settings (which is a bug Bioware never bothered to fix), I never touched him again  :P

@ OP:  sorry for being off-topic here !!!

@TNS: I am also curious as to your input key allocation.  Being new to PC, I'm currently using space = power 1, mousewheel up = power 2, mousewheel down = power 3, and c, q, e, tab assigned to missles, ops packs, medi-gel, and ammo pack respectively.  Shift for scoping in and mouse 2 for running.  It seems to be working pretty well, but curious as to what allocations others are using.

I don't think anyone on PC is using anything close to what you're using lol

My key bindings should be pretty obvious from the videos. I use 1,2,3 for powers, Q for ops packs, E for medi-gel, 5 for rockets and 6 for thermal clips.

My mouse doesn't have thumb buttons, so I'd guess this is not a very good mapping.

Actually it is a pity that we can't see that.

Here's a giant solo I did just now without any modding. I got hack > targets > escort. I stayed in the hack and didn't cheese it. And this was my first try where as it took me 5+ tries to get 15:54 with triple pizzas. I think I can go sub-17 w/o any need for obj modding but it'd take me ~ 10 tries or so.

Spoiler

For a character as powerful as the Black Widow DI, triple pizzas become more of a convenience than a necessity for sub-20ing.

Damn, that's some pretty weird binding! Well, whatever is best for you I guess.

I just use the default keybindings. Yeah I know, I'm probably the only PC user doing that

The only keybinding I add is the left ctrl for medigels. You know, for... Reasons
