Meh, like Moon, Interstellar has a wonderful soundtrack but not something I want to associate with Mass Effect. It would end up being another "ME3 has Clint Mansell in it!" situation where it's too much of a contrast to the rest of the series whenever his compositions kick in. (and feels really forced IMHO)

I'm also hoping ME:A has a new galaxy map theme (unless there won't even be a galaxy map!)

I'm hoping Sam Hulick eventually gets involved again so he can make stuff like this:

Sam Hulick composed this music

Try it out for yourselves! http://stars.chromeexperiments.com/

Really, DAI knocked it out of the park? Honestly I found the music of DAI to be quite underwhelming. 70% of the time there was no music playing at all and those few moments that we do hear music it was quite generic and forgettable music. The sole exceptions are two songs (see original message)

Edit: Granted, the main theme (menu theme) was also quite awesome.

You're forgetting these 3 amazing themes

Unofficial Soundtrack: "Battle for Haven" (shivers up and down my spine!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tz34O13pgsc

OST: Admant Fortress (the string arpeggios when it climaxes! Also a variation of the main theme)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOvolypp4pY

Unofficial Soundtrack: Ferelden Frostback (You can hear how this screams "I'm a mighty dragon, and imma stomp you down and burn you to death!")

Trevor Morris? He's a friggin good composer to have at Bioware.

They need to just stick to the same musical styles we had in Mass Effect 1-2 and then it'll be good. Here's some of my favorite tracks from the soundtracks, including some of my favorites from ME3's soundtracks:

"New Worlds"

"Heart of Courage"

"The Illusive Man"

"A Very Dangerous Place"

"Liara's World"

"Criminal Elements"

"Mass Effect Theme"

"The Normandy"

"Noveria"

"The Secret Labs"

"Breeding Ground"

"Uncharted Worlds"

"Wake Up"

"Prothean Beacon"

They need to be sure and play "New Worlds" on the galaxy map though. It wouldn't feel like Mass Effect without that!

Hire Alan Silvestri as co-composer and make stuff like this with synthy touches:

Absolutely brilliant movie by the way. Watch it and don't underestimate it, even if it has a couple of stupid moments.

One track from the ME1 soundtrack I hope is never included in future Mass Effect installments is "M4 Part II" by Faunts. That style of music is not appropriate for Mass Effect in my opinion.

^ The Battle of Ilos is perhaps the single piece of music that sticks into my mind from ME1 very strongly. This is where the story got real for me. Its just the perfect balance of tension and urgency to stop Saren and the Geth, and it also made me feel fascinated and sad in a way, trailing through vast Prothean ruins, seeing all of what the Protheans accomplished only to be swiftly and brutally taken away.

I haven't played through ME3 yet (will be starting shortly :D), but as I just finished ME2 yesterday, I found none of the music grabbed at me as ME1's did. Sure it had it moments where it was very similar and equally awesome, but that classic synth soundtrack from ME1 is just so memorable and contained so much character which really set it apart. It made me feel connected every step of the way. It was a breath of fresh air as opposed to the same cinematic, orchestral soundtracks we hear all the time with epics such as ME.

^ The Normandy's theme from ME1, another classic in my books. I literally just ran around the Normandy just to keep listening to this... need I say more? Version linked here contains all the different variations through the game.

https://www.youtube....h?v=sw_bZqOvx18

^ Feros had an incredible suite of atmospheric and combat music. 0:47 and 3:35 really starts to pump the adrenaline up.

^ Noveria's soundtrack. 'Nuff said.

So what do I personally hope for ME: Andromeda? I hope it returns to more along the lines of ME1, with perhaps little use of organic and ethnic instruments, only maybe as drones to really express a key emotion. I suppose we will have to wait and see, and just give Bioware some interesting thoughts ;)

The Star Wars saga have a consistent musical theme. John Williams is the composer for all six movies, including the upcoming movie. It was interesting to see how they handled the transition from the classic - to the new trilogy.

Mass Effect needs to have a consistent musical theme as well. They could re-use some old material and change things around, make it feel slightly new, while at the same time keeping it familiar to fans.

This is a good example of what they can do. You can recognize the original tune, but it also feels relatively fresh and new:

I agree. Really enjoyed that remix! I liked the definite nod back to ME1 - it draws the trilogy to a close. Since Andromeda is a whole new entry in the ME universe, I am eager to hear the brand new themes and leitmotifs... but I hope to hear some familiar ones too.

At the sametime i'd like to see new additions in the likes of Jon Hallur Haraldsson  especially(the Eve Online composer, amongst other things)work on the ME:A soundtrack. I think his kinda sound/incredibly atmospheric musical style in particular woud really suit the ME universe, it has that perfect sci-fi/space vibe. He'd be a great addition to the Mass Effect soundscape imo. As would Michael McCann(i loved his Human Revolution score. It was so downbeat yet beautiful & a joy to listen too with its 80's inspired electronic futuristic feel).

With ME4 focus on discovery and exploration, I keep thinking about the eve online soundtrack. I would love to hear what Jon Hallur Haraldsson can do for ME:A.

I would like a diverse soundtrack.

For ambient and or romance I would like: Classical, Jazz, and New-age.

For combat: Classical, and Trance.

... squeeze a little bit of R&B in the soundtrack, too.

+1

With the whole 'exploring a new galaxy' theme, i think some progressive rock is a must; get some Muse in there with their Exogenesis symphony (cause its relevant :P) or some Radiohead or something.
Besides that, i don't really care, of course a nightclub should have some generic beats (even though i hated those in previous ME games, cause there was too little variation)
Otherwise almost anything is fine with me...

No, not really though I love the song.  Stick with ME1-2 style, ME1 music was awesome and changing the sound will make it not feel like ME.  Music is insanely important to keep the feel of the series.

I really dig this, definitely has that feel of ME1 with the synths and atmosphere. Love the drone in the beginning, with the pattern sequence in the background. Cheers for the creation and vision mate! I would be interested in hearing more of your Andromeda creations... and possible download links :P

*snip* Solar Fields - Discovering

Aye! Seconding the Solar Fields sound recommendation.

It may be neat if there were some longer tracks (15+ minutes) composed for ME:A built of stand alone sections that mix during progressions of main mission quests.

I hope we will spend some more time in clubs and hear this magneficent one:

We might even dance in blood... Not sure if there will be clubs so I just hope we will hear some more energetic music. I prefer sci-fi to have more techno vibe (tho I don't really fancy techno).
