I don't think that's true. Dorian in Inquisition is from Tevinter, a culture that supports slavery, blood magic, deals with demons, etc, and he is well-loved despite being pro-slavery.
Dorian's attitude toward slavery gets handwaved because he's basically in denial of it and pretends that it's all hunky-dory and like Rome, with his best counterargument being that life is super shitty for the poor everywhere else in Thedas. To some degree that resonates with people.
That argument full-on doesn't work with Batarians. For one, the kind of slavery they practice isn't like the Roman one, even idealised. Two, their slavery is based on active military conquests, and we've been exposed to the horror of it in ME1 in a visceral way we've never been even via Fenria in DA. And once you play through "I remember me," it's basically impossible to not want to immediately shoot anyone who defends the institution in the face.
