It doesn't need to be Bray, but I'm very much in favor of having a Batarian on the team.
Bray (any Batarians) in Andromeda. Thoughts?

For too long, my people have served as an additional generic enemy type. For too long, we have suffered under lazy writers who think that the best way to make a villain is take everything bad about humans and shove it into one race. For too long, we have been reduced to stupidly evil caricatures, denied even the basest reason for players to appreciate us.
This must end.
Come to me, brothers and sisters of the Hegemony. Raise our voices towards the sky. Cry out for better-developed Batarians. Demand, above all things, a crewmate.
For who would have cared for the overly-militaristic, overly-demanding, distrusting Turians were it not for Garrus? Who would have loved the overbearing, near-perfect Asari were it not for Liara T'soni? At least, the Liara that existed in ME1. Who would have cared at all about the Quarians without Tali? Who would have known about the Drell if not for Thane?
This injustice robs my race of any and all potential they have. It reduces us below a level of even the pre-Legion Geth. And it must be ramified.
For the Hegemony!
And hey. If protagonists want to get themselves some Batarian booty... More power to them.

Thank you all for your contribution. This thread needed to be brought back to the front page! Now if we can get past the number of posts in the oversexualized characters thread... ![]()

The topic of any race returning really has to be discussed in the context of how did the Milky Way colonists get to Andromeda and when did they leave the Milky way?
This vital bit of context (which we don't have yet) is required for any kind of meaningful discussion can be had. Otherwise the conversations just boil down to emotion and wants. I want [insert race here] or I don't want [insert race here.] That's not a very productive conversation nor meaningful in any way.

Is space magic not good enough? It sincerely is for me. Hell, the whole basis for the original trilogy is actively being destroyed by a super fast flying camera 5,000,000,000 km away from Earth right now in real time. The topic of any race returning really has to be discussed in the context of how did the Milky Way colonists get to Andromeda and when did they leave the Milky way?

Huh? Or do you mean the Charon relay being encassed in ice?

Did anyone actually believe that to begin with?

Another vote yes for a Batarain squadmate, I've been especially interested in the idea after finally getting around to playing Bring Down the Sky. Could go either or on the romance though, if they're a cool enough character sure why not? More alien LIs imo isn't a bad thing at all.

I support a batarian squad mate if I get to shoot them asap.

Well, technically the entire basis for the original trilogy was us discovering alien ruins on Mars.

Doubt there will be many Batarians left. Especially in ME:A.
How about a female Batarian squadmate? lol

Bray (and Garrus) should have their own spinoff game. A Batarian and a Turian Shoot Things in the Head. Guaranteed bestseller, right there.

There is still plenty of unexplored objects beyond Pluto. We can just retcon the name of the relay.

Remember that Garrus's A-Team tech expert was a batarian. Needs ME2 prequel/ interquel, preferably with that salarian explosives guy and a quarian protaganist too.

Back before ME:A was announced and the idea of a possible prequel was being thrown around, I did wonder if maybe they'd look at Garrus' merc team on Omega. I mean, it would allow for a player to be any race, have a good reason for kicking ass, give us neat toys and a cool setting...
Of course we all know how it ended, but it's the journey that matters. A journey of a thousand broken Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack corpses.

There's likely quite a few Batarians left. Khar'shan is a smoldering ruin of a planet when ME3 ends but Terminus space is a giant patchwork of Hegemony subjects and petty Batarian warlords. There's no way the Reapers were able to destroy all of that.

So it's be like the Halo: Reach of the Mass Effect games. "From the beginning, you know the end."
