Does 'sunder' only affect the next hit?

For example if I see the status effect 'sundered' does the next hit strike without the enemies armor bonus?

I'm a little confused how that works.

It's for a fixed amount of time, but I'm not exactly sure how much time it is. I've seen some abilities and passives saying 6 seconds, but I think it depends on what causes the sunder. I think it's safe to say it's not just for the next hit.

In any case, Sunder is simply bad as nothing has high armor in MP which means the effect doesn't really help anything. Doing 20 more damage for 5 or 10 seconds is a drop of water in the ocean when an enemy has 6K HP...

So much wrong all over the place.
Why you even state such nonsense?

Armor values for perilous are in range of 20 to 80. Fore NM 40+ (106 I've seen on templar knight).

Every point of armor effectivly reduce your base damage. Your weapon is a bow with 175 base damage? Target got 20 armor? No penetration?
You not have 175 damage, you have 155 damage base, 12% lower damage (overall lower).
There are very few units without armor values. On demons it's wraith and for sure DD. 20 armor value in general is the lowest, archers, shades got that amount.
On templar armor on basic units is 40, on horror and knight 60+. If you take the same bow, 175 damage and 60 armor you loose 35% damage.

As for the sunder effect. It stacks additive (so can reduce armor to 0). It last some time, depends on passive/effect by which was applied.

Some of them applies 40% effect, some 20%, some last 8 seconds etc.

I also think that effect is applied after damage was done, so hit which applied sunder does not benefit it.

Because I didn't knew any better?

It's not like it's stated in plain text how armor penetration actually works in the combat mechanics (aznricepuff). I made a wrong an assumption about the math formula, thought it was additive, but I can see now it's multiplicative which makes it much better than what I understood.

Glad to be proven wrong on that account, thanks for the info.

No problem.
I was in general knowing the formula for the long time, but general idea on bsn was "armor pen sucks, enemies don't have armor"...
Which is wrong, on templar every unit got armor, on venatori only mages has zero.
If you after that take even stupid 40 armor it can sometimes reduce damage by few hundreds or even thousands.
For example ambush, when hitting something without armor I can get like 12k damage.
On revenant of something bulky like he it's sometimes around 7k. It's huge difference (crit in both cases).
