I'd take it a step further and say that would be the asari equivalent to being an otherkin.
Man, these mental images are horrific in their beauty.

As just an overall response to this thread....
No.
Get over yourselves. Do transgenders exist? Yes, but they're in the minority of minorities, and Bioware shouldn't have to incorporate them into their games just because they are out there.
Albinos exist. Should they be included? I don't think they care. It's just because of this whole gender equality thing.
Yes, albino love!
The head writer of Inquisition said he felt the "inclusiveness" of Inquisition's romances got out of hand and became a constraint on creativity and resources. A lot of people who can't see the forest for the trees complained about the lack of romance equality. That's BS. There were 2 gay romance options, 2 bi romance options and 3 straight romance options(but one is only for female elves). Demanding more "equality" than that is just selfish entitlement.
I'd love to see the quote from Gaider on this. I've never heard him say this. Link?
*whispers* Arioch needs blood and souls, Elric...Yes, albino love!
Thoughts?
Sure. Why the hell not.
Just FYI to the people in this thread already whining about Bioware being 'PC' or something:
Including a trans character wouldn't be PC as, whether you like it or not, trans people exist.
They do? damit i thaught we got rid of 'em in the 60s.
like we said over and over we woulnt be bothered if its done right and they are a character first and gender second.
Thoughts?
really? isn't having straight, bi, gay relations enough? No I don't want to see that PC crap...why is there a need for this? Really? I would like for someone to explain why there is a need or a desire for this? I mean we have already three types of relations...I don't get exactly what transgender romance really means? isn't that just gay or bisexual or straight depends on how your personal view of transgender people are? So isn't it really already covered?
@ManchesterUnitedFan1: So do albino people! Or people with dwarfism. Or color blind people. Or a million other people.
But people aren't open to having: "That trans character in the background who doesn't do much." Because THEN it's insulting. It works both ways. You can't have fair, non-PC inclusion... AND also be center stage all the time.
All I want to know is: "How useful are you to the mission."
Your particular uniqueness has no bearing on the story as this is not a space drama about people's self-exploration.
So great, have a trans character - but if that's all that character is contributing, then he/she is useless to me. And if it's not - then why is the trans part even important?
Sure, that'd be neat - hopefully that doesn't define their character or romance.

but video games are based in fantasy...which is to say that whoever is making the game can put any type of romance they want. That does NOT mean that it needs to be based in reality...sure transgender people exist but I do not care to have them in my game, to be honest. (not that I have anything against transgender people but I am just not comfortable yet to be in my rpg games)

Transgender people would count within one of the three groups that you listed. A transwoman could be straight (as in she's attracted to men), lesbian (as in she's attracted to women), or bisexual (as in she's attracted to both). For example, Caitlin Jenner probably identifies as a lesbian, since she's always been attracted to women. Carmen Carrera, another transwoman, likely identifies as straight (or bisexual) because she's married to a man.
So, basically, if the character were a transman (like Krem), then he'd be a romance option for the people who want to romance men. If he's straight, then he'd be available to women. If he's gay, then he'd be available to men. If he's bisexual, he'd be available for both.
And Scotts. 3 games and only 1 Scott. we are on par whith female Turians and Krogans.
Us left handed people have it worse. We come in all races, sex, sexualities etc and we don't have a single character like us.
I want a left handed character, as well as a left handed protagonist. I just can't identify with these right handed people! ![]()
@SnakeCode: The struggle is real.
BUT - you need to start a left handed people's romance thread - because if it's not f__kable - it isn't Bioware!

This makes absolutely no sense to me. I agree with your first statement. But your second statement is illogical. Why include a brunette? Why include a man? Why include someone with blue eyes? Why include anything? Because you want to as a writer. That's all it takes.
You also can't have it both ways. You can't complain that trans characters are center stage and then also complain that they aren't. You can't complain that trans characters mention their gender identity and then also complain that they don't. Well, you can, but at least acknowledge that it makes you a giant hypocrite.
But do they have green boobs? that is what is emprtant.

Eww you lot are just sinister.

So transgender is already included? whats the point of this thread then, Dave?
Eww you lot are just sinister.
That's racist.
realy i thaught it was Latin. go figure.
@daveliam: So you want it to be an important part of the story? You want part of ME:A to be about transgendered people? I do not.
I will happily welcome a gun-toting frontierswoman who was born a man and can fix an engine like nobodies business. And I mean it exactly as I'm writing it. Not making "being transgendered" (or anything else) the center stage point of the character. The important parts of that character to me are "gun-toting" and "fix an engine".
In fact - I'd love to never even know the character was trans. But - of course - that doesn't support the need for the representation to be up front and center.
What I'm not interested in welcoming is a person who's entire dialogue tree and quest-line is spend exploring transgendered life.
You might be making the assumption I think the "daddy issues" of every other character is fine - I don't.
And what about people from South America? Three games and 0 representation!Us left handed people have it worse. We come in all races, sex, sexualities etc and we don't have a single character like us.

In one thread people were freaked out that they wouldn't know their LI was trans until end of romance. So I don't think it would be that good romance-wise to not reveal that character is trans before you complete the romance. However with characters who aren't LI's I think that approach would work. Or maybe have the dialogue of him/her being trans be optional like with Krem. I never picked it so him being trans remained unknown to my character. Though I don't see the problem of transcharacter mentioning being trans in one point of game if it's important to characters identity. Characters do make remarks to their identity quite lot in games anyways. It shouldn't be focus point though of the character.
