Sure why not. The forum would probably scream about it from all sides, but whatevs.
Yup, half the forum would complain. Whilst a trans LI would instantly become the other half's favourite character.

Don't forget the forum would use spreadsheets to demonstrate how BIoWare wronged them, for after all this is the BioWare boards and here no matter what BioWare does its the wrong thing. I remember the entire "cupcake incident" for there were people that got upset because BioWare gave the cupcakes sent to them to a youth shelter.
To the subject of the thread, as long as it is done well I don't have a problem with it. The concern I do have is using Krem as an example for to me Krem dealt more about gender issues inside of the Qun then physical sexuality and I am not exactly sure that is what people are asking for. The other concern I have is how much of a minefield the entire issue is right now, for there were complaints I saw about Krem being voiced by Jennifer Hale instead of a transgendered person and that just reminds me of what happened with Connor Kennedy in Assassin's Creed 3.
Dude thats why im keeping my shits to my self.and hopeing Bioware focus on the game. social media is a hell of a drug.
Holy shіt Deckard, brilliant work I must say.
To the OP:
I have read rumours that one of the new species on Andromeda will be hermaphrodite.
A pity that you aren't, for if you would, i could tell you to go and what you can do yourself without sounding insulting
Spoiler
iknow right?
Sigh no one has a sence of humour these days.

Because it will dilute the story elsewhere.
DA and ME games have something called a word budget.
For example:
Say, MEA has 6 characters + the PC and the assigned total word budget is N that will handle the main story arc and side quests and the romances. N is now cemented due to VO costs, time and resources. But, if you add a 7th character, then N must be cut down to make room. A decision, then, must be made to chop the word budget from the other 6.
If you want memorable characters in MEA, then the writers must have a sufficient word budget to properly develop the individual. In this case, adding a 7th is actually saying more is less.
You know what I would actually find INTERESTING? Some version of this:
It's the future. Who's to say that it's not possible in the future with better technology to ACTUALLY fully swap sexes? So I'd like to see a character where:
It's science fiction, why freeze at the current level of development when you can really go somewhere cool.
And what about having an experimental genetically designed asexual or hermaphrodite in there?
Asexual: "I find this sex business annoying. I wanted to focus on my career. Plus sex hormones cause physical degradation and shorten productive lifespan."
Hermaphrodite: "I hear ya. My mood swings are epic and I can't fully function as one or the other without hormonal injections. The body hair is weird, too. But I wasn't happy--I felt like only half a person."
Inorganic: "Ya'll cray cray."
Not for or against it but would prefer this not become "Hey we have this character to fill this role! Check it off the list"
Seriously some these request are starting to feel that way, pretty sure I've every kill of sexual preference and orientation in the book on BSN at this point ![]()
When they get to the point where we're arguing about whether or not we should have characters representing the furry and otherkin demographics, then I'll think we're working off a checklist and the representation has gotten out of hand.
We aren't there yet. Trans representation is a perfectly reasonable request and is inline with the direction Bioware's been taking.

You are assuming that they would create a full set of 6 squad members and then add in a 7th trans character, thus reducing the word budget for all of the squaddies. I'm assuming that the trans character would be one of the 6 squad members to begin with, so it wouldn't reduce word budget.
Absolutely for it. Why not? People will whine anyway even when they are not forced to romance that character. Nobody can handle any option in a game that doesn't meet their own narrow focus on life or romance.
I'm actually against it for story reasons.
Look, these are frontiers-people. Not layabouts looking to explore their uniqueness. Yes, there may very well be men who feel like they are women (or more Krems) - but these people are going to need to fight to survive. Dressing up is not a survival trait - it's a luxury trait.
So sure - I'm all for a person who is transgendered... but a person who's only purpose is to explore being transgendered? No.
Transgendered: "I appear as a man, but identify as a woman."
PC: "I don't care - dig the trench, we need to get this foundation poured."
Fun fact; there are currently over 15k transgendered individuals serving in various branches of the American military, several serving in active warzones such as Afghanistan.
So I think that trans individuals are very capable of roughing it without the niceties required for "playing dress-up".

Believe it or not but MEA is designed to be an aRPG and not a video game of General Hospital or All my Children or whatever is on during the afternoon soap operas these days.
I vote to keep it as an aRPG.

ONLY IF YOU BECOME BSN PRESIDENT!! VORCHA VOTE FOR YOU!!!! GRRAAAAAGH!!

There's a difference between being a trans person and actively transitioning/passing.
Currently. As multiple people have pointed out, we are talking about the future here.
@Former_Fiend: Fascinating... but that's not what I said.
What I said was: "I don't give a **** about how you feel inside... did the god damn trench."
And... living in the frontier is full time - people spending their lives surviving don't spend most of their time self-exploring.
Yes, I'm aware this is the WB/CW of RPG where beautiful people explore their feelings while being amazing warriors... but, it doesn't mean I care about them and their truths. Go live that truth... AFTER you put up the Hab-tents... dig the latrine... and catch, prepare and cook dinner.
Also... why would a ship of potential refugees be wasting money on making chemicals that assist transitioning when they should be spending time on medicines?

The implication of what you said being that a transgender person would be more inclined to talk about their feelings than dig the hypothetical trench than a cisgendered person is.
Fact is, it's pretty much a given that everyone on our squad and several people on our crew, regardless of their gender identities, are going to have some internal strife and struggle going on; Bioware characters are conflicted, tortured individuals with a handful of exceptions. Your preferred reaction to all of these issues, whether it be gender identity, guilt over various crimes committed, parental issues(it's going to be parental issues) or whatever, maybe to tell them to shut up and dig the trench, and that's fine, but there's no reason why the person with gender identity issues needs to be excluded from the game while the person who murdered a family in a panic/sacrificed his team on a pointless mission/has daddy issues gets to stick around to be told to shut up and dig the trench.
And indeed, the trans individual doesn't even need to have their internal struggle be about their gender identity. Maybe they're the ones who've spent their lives as an assassin or suffered through poverty or are living under the false identity of someone who died trying to save them.
Maybe they're the one who tells the PC to get over our own issues and dig the goddamn trench.
Also without solid information on what medical technology may be used in gender transitioning - assuming the hypothetical trans squad mate uses hormone therapy at all, or that hormone therapy is still a thing - then we can't really make a judgment on resource management.
