This fan base can't be split down the middle, it's too splintered. There are fringe extremists, people who lean heavily toward certain mindsets, and moderates. It's all over the place.

I'm more likely to become annoyed at extremism and intolerance toward other points of view from people who are "on my side." I think it's generally preferable to have an unreasonable opponent than an unreasonable ally, because extremists can push people away from a mindset just by being obnoxious about it.
