While we wait for a new journey to take us to Andromeda, a certain thought struck me: what names will we end up using to refer to Mass Effect 1-3? I've seen 'the original trilogy', for instance, but that might change if Andromeda turns out to be a stand-alone title. Another one I expect to see is 'the Shepard trilogy', but that's about as far as my imagination goes - except, perhaps, for some variation on 'Reaper' or 'Reaper War', although I don't expect those to be popular. (I assume this is because the trilogy for most players was defined by Shepard and his/her allies, not our enemies.)

 

This is not a particularly important question, maybe, but I'm curious can we find a consensus on what to call it? Should we?

 

Throw your personal preference in below, please. With some luck, the Like system will make it relatively easy to get an idea of what most of you think I would set up a poll, but that limits everyone to my aforementioned lack of imagination.

I've been using 'the Shepard trilogy' for the first three games.

Hum, I guess this wasn't as interesting to others as it was to me I guess I'll just have to wait and see what people say after Andromeda arrives thanks to the two of you who 'voted', anyway!

I'm using "ME Trilogy". Should be clear enough, unless they make another. In that case... still ME Trilogy, the other can be ME:A Trilogy

Dunno. I just call it the first three games.

 

Or the ME Trilogy, but that will change when Andromeda arrives

 

But I'll guess we can go with Original Trilogy or the Reaper War Trilogy or The Shepard Trilogy...

I think the Shepard Trilogy will be the one that sticks because it's distinctive and because the one constant that mattered through all those games for the players is Commander Shepard

When Chris Priestly was still around he referred to it as the Shepard trilogy as well. 

 

I wonder if that is how Bioware refers to it internally or just the way he chose to reference it.

I just say "The trilogy". I feel pretty sure ME:A won't be another trilogy. Remember, we're thinking 8 years, 2012-2020 approx. of development time for 3 more Mass Effects. I think when Bioware's new IP steals the show, they'll start moving on from their previous franchises, and perhaps, eventually revisit them.
