My constitution is only 26, but my templar is taking only 1 damage even in mightmare! Is this supposed to be the case or am I just being ignorant? I'm literally just standing at the front, doing nothing and taking hits!

Here is the damage per hit I receive from experimenting today:

While Horn of Valor is active:

Front damage: 1

Flanking damage: 11 - 24

While Horn of Valor is not active:

Front damage: about 24 (ish)

But if I turn my back to the enemy fire while I'm not on Horn of Valor:

Back damage: 140+ (that's insta-kill for me since I had like 20 mobs standing there and firing at me)

The above is just melee damages, I'm taking about 20 ish spirit damage from arcane horror per hit but since they can burst out a lot of hits in a short time, I can lost a fair amount of guard.

With the enhanced horn of valor ring my ability downtime is only about 2 or 3 seconds so that's when I will have to manage my stamina and count on shield wall.

Since the buff from horn of valor applies to the whole party, it's quite easy for your team mates to know when you need a little barrier.

So here is my stats:

26/32/32

Equipment:

Longsword of the dragon

Shield of the dragon

No armour upgrade (yes I know, my luck is just ****)

enhanced belt of health

superb crit chance ring (don't need it, why am I even taking it? I just don't have anything better)

enhanced horn of valor ring

enhanced stamina ring

Noticed I can't even one hit any mob with the spell purge combo so I might re-spec her soon, and taking unbowed and bodyguard instead. But the above is the build I used while I was doing the testing.

I don't know if this thread is useful at all, but personally I found it really surprising that an underpromoted player like me could possibly tank nightmare.

Here is an alternative build I come up with that gave up the spell purge combo and take up bodyguard. But I didn't have time to test it yet, and there is only 3 skills I picked (blessed blades are just... pointless). But feel free to test this one for me :)

Sorry I don't actually know how to make a video for a game...

I really am pretty rubbish with the game but I just find that I'm only taking 1 damage per hit astonishing...

I'm fairly certain it is due to a mix of armor upgrade passives, plus HoV's increasing armor. If there's a virtuoso with a little knight armor, it makes it even easier.

Do you have the highest tier armor at over 180 base?

Elemental damage would still be pretty brutal.

I haven't tested it personally but it should look right. You taken every armor passive you have + horn.
It should be around 350 armor front, so quite a lot.
If we take now shield passive, shield as a shield gives 30% defense front, next turn the blade and turn the bolt, so con and melee /range defense here and there and shield users in general are defense capped from front.

After all, looking at
final_damage = (base_damage * rand(0.95 to 1.05) - armor * armor_multiplier * (1 - armor_penetration))
* (ability_multiplier + attack_bonus + flanking_bonus + level_bonus + difficulty_bonus + rank_bonus)
* (1 - magic_resistance)
* (1 - min(defense + front_defense, 0.8))

enemies also "fight" with armor like players.

Still good to know, it opens a way of Little Knight Music for a great buff for warriors on NM, this added 100 around armor should help them a lot. With popularity of warriors on NM it should make them more mobile, because after getting LKM they can just ignore barrier spam from virtuso, because they don't need it.

Yes i do have the highest base armor rating armor. In fact i have not seen a single player still with low level armour for months lol :)

I do notice my guard drop like two third when a pair of arcane horror using their barrage skill towards me and i see a whole pile of spirit damage flying out on top of my head :) But then, its time for your shield wall to shine! The bad thing about templar is that she does so little damage (and the purge combine dont let me one hit kill any mob at all) so if u do get hurt, dont count on any heal on kill at all. So i though single a long from virtuoso can be really useful. hmm... virtuoso is just so helpful in every way :) LKM, sing along, BoB, and that little extra barrier on top of all this. but then, I still want decent dps or a run will take forever if you are expecting a templar to clear a map with like ten thousand auto attacks...

The good thing is though, there is no knock down this weekend and all the enemies seem to go melee except arcane horror so it was a prime time for warriors. But after this weekend, i would imagine templar wont work as well since there will be much more enemies doing elemental damage and constant knock down abilities from the enemy. Shame i still dont have a single hakkon weapon after 10 runs :(

Haha some people don't have it after 60. My luck finally came in sometime after 30-50 hrs playing NM Dragons.

I swear the drop rate cant possibly be 15 to 20 %... just no way! if we dont get a single hakkon weapon after 15 runs, then if we assume drop rate to be 17.5, we are talking about 5.6% chance of not seeing a single drop. and it looks like im going down towards that road at this rate...
Luke must be joking when he told us about the drop rate :(

Unfortunately it takes thousands of runs to really nail down the drop rate accurately. None of us have actually done thousands of runs though.

Tank / Shield classes finally matter and they can fill a role. There DPS is crap without lots of promotions, so they can actually do something.
