Tactics are easy:

[Reason or variable to execute] = [What to use]

If the variable in the first box is fulfilled, the NPC(computer playing a character) will use the action to the right.

In example...

Allister

[Enemy health >50%] = [Action: Shield Bash]

When Allister is fighting an enemy with health greater than 50%, he will use Shield Bash assuming he has the stamina and the skill is available.

If you are having problems setting the skills, set the left hand side first.

Just slow down and breathe, and do not flame.

I hope this helped.

AND NO ONE IS GOING TOT ELL ME THEY USE IT WITHOUT EXPLAINING HOW AND WHAY AND WHAT THE POINT IS...IF THEY DO THEY ARE LIARS

I must be a liar because I use it all the time.  It works pretty darn great, too.  Funny thing is...  it's self-explanatory.  You can even prioritize the tactics by dragging them up and down the list.

As to why you use it?  Because you want to fine tune the AI of your party members so you don't have to babysit them every second...

Here is a basic how...

My first priority item for each party member is:
Self: Health <= 25% ---  Use lowest power health potion.
My mage is <=50%.

So.  You got the very basics.  Take some time to learn it.  And stop with the caps.  You're not proving any points just because you don't understand something and screaming about it.

Read The ******* Manual.

With just skimming the manual for about 10-15 minutes (if that) and then playing the game for a bit you should be able to pick up on atleast the very basics. Why would someone want to help you when you are being such an abrasive person. Chill out, read some of the manual and learn to play. Why PLAY games if you want things spoon fed to you?

I can't believe I'm about to do this, but, all the good insults have been taken, so, here we go.

First, the name of the character you're using is up at the top left. This is pretty obvious, how you missed it, I don't know. Anyway, the whole thing is set up as if/then statement. As in, "If this situation happens, then do this".

Now, the left hand side of the screen is your target's behavior (the "if" statement). There are a lot of options here, but, really you're deciding what enemy to respond to. If you choose "Enemy: Nearest", you target the nearest enemy. If you choose "Morrigan attacked by melee attacker" you will target the nearest opponent attacking Morrigan with melee attacks. Simple enough.

The right hand side of the screen is your chosen action against the target, or the "then" statement. Here is where you select what ability to use, what weapons to switch to, or what modes to toggle on. With the examples we used earlier, putting "Attack" with the target "Enemy: Nearest" means your character will target the nearest enemy, move up, and attack it. If you do "Shield Bash" for the "Morrigan attacked by melee enemy", you will target an enemy attacking Morrigan in melee and use Shield Bash on it. Again, pretty simple.

The important thing is that they work in order. If tactic number one comes up, your character will do that and ignore the following tactics. If it does not, the character checks number two. So, putting "Enemy: Nearest / Attack" as your first option means your characters will never do anything else, as there will always be a nearest enemy to attack in combat. Generally accepted wisdom is to put healing-related things in the first slot.

Now, personally, I think it's better just to put everyone on "Enemy: Nearest / Attack", with some heal spells at the front if you have them, and just give manual commands. But, I like to micromanage, so, maybe that's just me. Do whatever works for you.

As a note, I'm still not convinced you're not a troll, so, I will not be responding to this again. I've given you ALL the information you need on this system. If you can't figure it out from this, don't expect me or anyone else to help further.

Holy crap dude. Reading all of this, with your anger the way it is any advice anybody gives you are are going to take it as a hostile threat. You did it twice already. I forget who but someone gave you a sheet for your pdf, I think he said page 31. Just calm down and think because how you are acting you are telling me you are like 13 and are trying to play this game and you can't understand it so please cool down. Also another good advice someone gave you, turn off the tatics and play with it like that. I play on my xbox 360 and it isn't hard at all but that is just me, I know everybody is different. If you play with the xbox 360 then maybe I can assist you with that, just message me or write back here. This game is really kick a. I just got out of Logress and so far I'm loving it. It has taken a little getting used to to figure this game out but so far I'm loving it. It reminds me of Knights of The Old Republic and I loved that game. Well if you need help message me.

This thread has gotten pretty nasty, and I believe the OP has already made threads on this topic.

If you have a question about how something works, there's no need for yelling, swearing, or namecalling when you get frustrated. Ask your question calmly, please, or go outside for a walk until you've calmed yourself enough to actually listen to the people who are trying to help.
