I think beyond confused is a spamming program at this point. They just keep shouting the same thing in slightly different ways ignoring all the points raised in response.

I think the name eTroll would be good for this application.

Tactics tell your party members what to do when you are not directly controlling them. When you ARE controlling them, the tactical settings do nothing. You have to use your own abilities on your bar (PC), or radial menu (console). Tactics isn't an ability you can use (like setting up some cool combo), but to automate your party members when you aren't using them.



For example, I'll use skills like shield bash to knock some one over with my character. You do not have to set up a tactic for this.



IF you want your character to use shield bash while you AREN"T controlling him, then you set up a tactic.

I find terrible funny as every game i really want that others get earlier then myself people moan about stuff. I had it while i was waiting for Mass effect and fable 2 but when i got the those games i loved them. I think people expect too much sometimes

No it actually does not explain how to use the tactics menu, only how to open it up and what it's supposedly used for...I have yet to be able to do anything with it or even how to know if I am doing with it to begin with.

All anyone keeps saying is ste up tactics, set up tactics....This is a great screen....


BLAH BLAH BLAH...cannot be that great,.... there is no way to do anything anyone is saying here because it's not explained HOW you actually go about doing this..

First select a character. Then click your tactics icon at the top (for PC). You are applying tactics to that character.



3. HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXECUTE THE DAMN TACTIC THAT YOU SUPPOSEDLY SET UP

It is executed automatically when you do not control your character and your conditions are met.

Do you have some sort of ADD condition, why should anyone explain this to you when all you do is rant abuse at everyone.

I'm sure EA will be very happy to explain the entire game to you over the phone if you like it's a premium rate number ;-)

P.s. or you could read page 31 -32 of the manual as I told you.

I agree that his posts aren't that constructive, but maybe someone should develop a short walkthrough for people who don't understand how to use the system, so that people may get the most out of the game.

I'm pretty sure you don't even need to use the system but yeah...

For consol (Well Xbox anyways) just go to iventory, and I think it's on the stats page, just press Y. There you go, there are tatics.

If you're on the PC and you just find it too hard, try changing the difficulty to easy untill you get the hang of it, that and turn off caps lock.

People would help you if you had started this thread reasonably. All you had to do was ask politely if someone could help you understand how to use the tactics menu. This would hae gotten you a thread full of polite and helpful replies, and would probably be playing the game right now.

Instead, you've posted in all caps, effectively shouting at everyone, insulted people in the thread, insulted Bioware and refused to accept that the system works, despite the fact that no one else is having any problems with it.

Forgive me if I don't recall exactly the specifics, but example: I have a Mage in my party. When I'm not in direct control of my Mage, I want her to automatically cast a heal spell on me if my health drops to below 25%. I can set it up to do that. I go to tactics menu for the Mage and set the condition to some thing like player health <= 25% then set the action to use ability heal spell.

wow, just wow... i don't know if you are trolling or not, but im going to give you the benefit of the the doubt and believe that you really are having trouble understanding the tactics menu. It can be daunting at first. I had no idea what to do with it either, until i did a little bit of reading and playing with it. I'll try and give you the basics of the system.



The tactics menu is a powerful tool that the player character (you) can use to tell your party members what to do when you do not have them selected. These "triggers" can be situational. For example (I'll try to use the language that the game uses), If "self is attacked by a melee character" (this is the first box on the left), then activate "dirty fighting" (this is the first box on the right.



Here is another example.

If "ally goes below (>) 30% health" (again this is the box on the left) then "cast lesser heal" (this is the box on the right)



One more example for good measure.

If "surrounded by 3 enemies" (box on the left) then activate *ability X that attacks more than one enemy at once*(insert name of ability between the stars) (box on the right)



Again, this system tells the computer (AI or Artificial Intelligence) what to do in certain situations when you are not able to pay full attention each individual party member. This happens to me all the time.



I am by no means an expert on this system, I simply have a basic understanding of it. I am still learning. I hope this helps you and anyone who reads this.

This makes no sense.. needs a full description about what exactly you are saying to do....WTF do you mean select a character. The tactics menu doesn't apply to any specific character So I do not know what you mean or why you are saying select a character or how you are saying to do this

Sorry you have now totally made absolutely no sense... you are always in control of your character, and you can only go into your own inventory.

Ok to answer point 2 look at the screen shot in the manual notice the name of a character with 2 arrows underneath below where it says tactics (top left) the two arrow will scroll between characters. The tactics shown on screen apply to what ever character name you have selected up there (easy). They even label it and say click to change character in the manual.

3 - you don't execute the tactic, tactics are things that characters will do if you arent directly controling them at the time, it's a way to control the AI.

1 - to set up a tactic you choose a condition first this is when that characters AI will execute the action if not being directly controlled. Then you select the action what to do when the condition is met.

I worked all this out in 5 minutes looking at the page in the manual.

Really not hard.
