As it stands, the game use the player's currently wielded one-hand weapon to determine the amount of damage dealt. Since shields are classified as "weapons" in the game, the shields should have an attack/offense value that acts as base for the Shield Bash multiplier.
Upgrades: Add component to upgrade the shield's attack value (e.g. hardening, spikes, etc). Also add cosmetic upgrades.
This idea is meant primarily for MP, but there's no reason to include SP.
