I would like to ask for thoughts and opinions on the changes to the map system.  I  find I am really missing my map from ME1.  I feel like I am getting turned around quite easily.  And the fact that  can't reference where I am is really frustrating for me.  In Omega being able to look at the map and see that ok, there is a passage about one more section over was VERY helpful.  But during the Modin mission, I found myself worried that I missed things due to the fact that I felt a bit like a rat in a maze, with no points of reference.  And I never realized how much I depended on those little red triangles being constantly in my corner, until I can't find them.
Does anyone have any tips, or thoughts on the best way to learn and use the new system?

Setting waypoints in ME1 was very helpful especially for finding all the loot. Finding loot other than ammo causes to much backtracking.
