De-sexifying ME4/Andromeda, how about now? Fix it please, no more butt-shots and nipple suits.

We have talked about this before, and there are a few (vocal) proponents of sexy ladies and boobs here as well as a few vocal opponents. The majority either does not care or does not care enough to come here (or anywhere) to complain about or praise things as they are.

But how about now? Can we fix it now?

Case in point:

http://www.theguardi...ist-video-games

More (light reading and discussion):

http://forum.bioware...practicalities/

We get it, sex sells, boobs are nice and soft, but could they please not invade my sci-fi epic? Could jarring butt-shots not be included in serious conversations? Could we get some confirmation about this?

Has the time come or must we wade further into the dumbing down and sexing up of video games, feminist backlash, disgruntled schlong-tuggers and common sense losing a few IQ points, before boobs and butts are relegated back into armour and the bedroom/showers/other relevant places?

If bioware released MEA without any sexy ladies in it, I am blaming you.

Wouldn't it make more sense, if you're going to say anything, to say that we need more representations of realistic bodies for BOTH genders?

Drop the heels and stick to the armor outfits for fieldwork and I think we're good.

If they thought there was a problem with both bodies, then it would. Otherwise they're pointing out the problem they've identified.

I'm just saying, I don't have an issue with this expect perhaps Miranda, but no one talks about the men. Virtually every male human is ripped to high heaven and no more seems to be riding a moral wagon about that. Shepard, Jacob, Kaidan, James, hell I bet Jokers rocking a six under his shirt. No one seems to mind if female gamers oogle at that

This is an internet forum not a government agency. People talk about the issues they've noticed and they care about. If nobody is talking about the men, then it just means that nobody is talking about the men. Maybe they should be, maybe someone needs to write a hard hitting critique of how BioWare represents its male characters. But the absence of that does not mean there is anything wrong with what is being said about the women.

De-sexifing

Hot topic if there is one -oh the pun!-

Anyhow, I am all in for this, i am mostly troubled by "chain-kinis" and "cleavage of protection". those gotta go.

BUT, if a writer comes up with a sexy lady/guy, because the story suits her/him, and she/he has the capacity to perform as such, I would not mind that. As i would also not mind a prude lady/guy to be all covered up and giggle/faint at the mention of the D word.

It all comes down to coherence, you can find everything on earth, from a sexual predator, to an asexual person, who is also very concerned with decorum, and they will both behave according to what they believe in.

That idea of going either way is crap. But still I must mention this again: real armor is a must and not only boob armor, but combat heels, and all those have to stay in the milky way

Nipple suits?

... in Mass Effect? I must have missed that one.

I'm gonna need a picture. Not for science. But to find out what a nipple suit actually is.

Again, I'm not saying there is. I too am against the sexualisation of women in media. It just seems to me to be a bit hypocritical to only talk about one gender in this way when its evidemtly a two way thing, at least where ME is comcerned.

Why should science fiction depict a technologically and socially advanced world in which people have hangups about sex?

And why would I care about people who get upset at sexual content? They can buy another game if it bothers them. Their offence is their own responsibility, not ours.

As long as butt shots are relegated to romance scenes and not in normal conversation, I'm ok.
As Long as sexualuzed outfit aren't the rule, forced on my character, make sense for the character and are not used out in combat or deadly enviromant, I'm fine.

As Long as I don't have to see masks when out in Space or unprotected skin under higtly burning sunlight, or in toxic atmosphear, I' already quite happy.

I don't think is asking Too much.

Things should make sense.

Sexy when appropriate (casual wear, etc.) is great, performing EVA in space in a cat-suit, no.

In combat: Practical armor, yes. The Sci-Fi Equivalent of chain-mail bikini, no.

Like with everything else, tasteful is the key, don't go over the top.

I'm fine with sex. I'm not okay with the traditional portrayal of women as sex objects in video games. There's a difference.

Boo needs more sexualization. How else are we to simulate a loving relationship?
