I am a female. I get your point, and agree with you to a certain degree.

 

But what you have to remember is that regardless of whether game devs use sexual objectification or not, is really irrelevant when women allow themselves to be treated as such, by dressing in skimpy outfits and doing sexually suggestive things to gain men's attention and affection. Many are not victims -- they do it willingly. Some consider their bodies to be a symbol of power, to control men, and they don't see themselves as objects at all.

 

And it isn't like BioWare haven't created different female characters that don't fit the "male fan service" category.

 

Yes, we have a culture that promotes the sexualization of women. How women, themselves, choose to portray themselves isn't something I'm taking issue with. I do take issue with how developers choose to portray women. Although, you have to recognize that women's  choices are influenced by our highly sexualized culture whether we really it or not.

 

It's still problematic when most women in video games are treated as sex objects to the extent that they aren't even given proper armor to wear.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but it was a internet poll, without any control about the participating group. Several people on tumbrl and similar sites (who are not teenagers) took part in that poll, So it's 100% worthless:
