I'm all for equality, but wouldn't an all male race make even less sense than an all female one? I mean, I like the fact that they at least used some "science" in quotation marks to explain the Asari and make them somewhat believable, but there's no way an all male race can make sense logically. Technically what you need is a female and a source of... genetic... stuff. It takes a female body to actually turn that genetic nastiness into life though, what with gestation and all that.

...I'm definitely overthinking this. It is sci fi after all. More to the point I kind of feel like it would just be a rehash tbh. But then, I have had the thought that it might have been a nice touch if Asari were more androgynous instead of being all women for sexiness reasons, so if they were to repeat the monogender thing I'd say going neither distinctly male nor female would be a better path this time around.

Mitosis cold?

the question is how dose one sex an alien species? sure on our planet it is simple you look at the junk.

the Asari would need Genetic diversity to reproduce in the form of donation. (Sperm on earth.) i admit i havent looked up Alien mateing.

Eh, just follow the trilogy's logic. They have women, but they are all hideous trolls and must stay on the home world to save us from the hideousness. That and the only cure for the new all male race's sorrow is a human woman's vahgynah! Sort of like how maleSheps magic pp cured and strengthened and had all the ladies faithful to him in the end.  ;)

I like the examples of the ONE female in page 1. It's like that Chris Rock joke: "Diversity's great these days. All my black friends have lots of white friends, all my white friends have ONE black friend..."

Really, the Asari exists because huge parts of ME franchise are a love letter to Science Fiction ideas. Its why so many Asari are Blue and are strippers as that was kinda started by Star Trek Green Orion Slave Girls. They have super powers to make everyone attracted to them, even Salarians who don't even experience sexual desire as a species. Honestly, in between the first game and now, that particular nod has kinda worn out its appeal to some degree as a science fiction ideal.

I feel its a bit of a shorthand for an entire race. Add in the fact, we already have so many races that are overwhelmingly male by game standards, that having two races be sexy races when they don't even have the history of the monocolored space babe. Never mind, that we could just have a species with a little more inspiration from other sources that can also be sexy.

Like, why create 1 race that is sexy to everyone as only one gender, which was all made with design purposes, when you can have a race that is many things and also can be sexy. That just seems the better design choice.

It'd have been interesting if the Ardat-Yakshi were male anomalies in the Asari population having unique genetic variability and stronger biotic capabilities, but with deadly side effects, so they remain rare and confined to monasteries; a dirty secret among Asari.

Reaper-ed female Asari would be banshees and these reaper-ed Ardat-Yakshi would be incubi with deadly tentacle projections from their head and fingers.

An all male race makes no sense. Females bear children, nurse them. Males (in two sexed species) are very necessary for the continuance of the species, but if a species has a single gender, it is by definition Female.

The only way I could see a species even remotely being all male is if they procreate via parasitism (bloat flies and such). Where the males inject eggs into a host and that hosts DNA / genetic material is used by the child. But even here they are still female because they create eggs. The closest you can get to an all male species is aesthetically making the females look like males.

Sea horses.

All thats needed is a delivery of genetic diversity and fertilisation.

And gosh darn no woman ever looks at a mans ass. thats why the Chipendales never sell any tickets.

and no woman ever looka at another woman and wishes she had feture X that that woman has.

Dude to me Jack is my Estrogen fantasy.

I laughed a lot now :pinched:   Look, I'm not saying girls don't look at ass just as much as guys do (hell, I have a lot of fun commenting about my guy friends booty  with my best friend, who is a girl) It's just that the way guys are portrayed in the games (especially ME3) is the way most dudes desire to be. Sure, girls do like men that work out, but at least most girls I know prefer guys don't go that far and get THAT big. Since you guys were so kind to post a Magic Mike gif (by the way, I love it ) Look at the guy's bodys in there, see the difference? They are fit, they are ripped, they are hot... wait... I'm getting a little sidetracked here   What I was trying to say is,  they are fit but not in a exaggerated way, they are not gigantic like the men in ME3.  I guess they just exaggerated the testosterone fantasy in there and gave the guys way to much WHEY Protein lol

A quick google for "all male species" turned up this and there also seems to be a species of clam that is entirely male. It's not necessarily impossible from a genetic standpoint, but you kind of have to stretch the definition of what it means to be male (eg., cloning and stealing eggs from other species).

Its a Sci-fi fantasy setting. have you seen one potbelly? heck even C-sec never had that one fat cop who just dose deskwork.

Thing is different genders react to different sexual ques.im a lesbian and i done react to the same ques as a average Hetro male.

i like flat chested girls as opposed to larger breasts. i like small hips ovwe larger ones and i dont ract to sexy poses to typicaly sexyones.

the point is everyone is different.

Red Sonja is as much a Female powerfantasy as Conan is to Men.

Tbh, I did prefer the male build in ME1 over the other games. It seems the men got really...flared out in ME2. Then in ME3 they seemed even more flared out, and Vega--although he looked good sometimes, was rather exaggerated.

It's also like how the Qunari are in DA. I liked their build in DA2. I thought they were quite attractive. But IB in DAI was very exaggerated, and it's not to my tastes.

The only reason there's no variety is because bioware is completely lazy. They simply reuse the same body model in all characters. I wish they put body sliders in the cc this time, I want my char to have a body more close to the ones in ME1.

And I agree with your point, everybody is indeed different, but you have to agree too that most the trilogy's character designs appeal more to the "straight male gamer" niche, the over sexualized girls (an entire race that's all female and most of them are/were strippers...hello?) and testosterone filled action heroes don't deny it.

@rapscallioness: I kinda forgive Iron bull's body because of his race, but I do wish they did made him a bit smaller.

Gender is as meaningless to the geth as it is to the asari, but everyone refers to Legion as 'he' anyways.

So does that make the geth an all male race?

There should be an all male race like the asari, but instead of a bunch of hairy slobs they can be shredded and aesthetically pleasing. This could attract more female gamers.

Well, unless it's a race that's either immortal or relies on clones wouldn't live very long if it was all male (unless it's just a race that has male personality traits (as opposed the the Asari who normally portrayed female traits, even if they aren't really female - they don't actually have a gender more or less)...)

greetings LAX

ps: Still, I would be ok with that - hell, I'd be ok with a race of hermaphrodites etc. (why not? - It's a big universe after all!)

You could potentially have "an all male" race in the sense that the adults of the species, though bearing and giving birth to eggs or live young, and biologically female, possess human masculine personality and behavioral characteristics. It might be interesting to think about how that could work in terms of evolutionary psychology, but, personally, I lean against the idea. It seems too much like something to do just because nobody has done it before, but as with all opinions it is only subjective.

The only way I could see it working is for a species to reproduce some way other than giving birth, like if you cut one in half and both regrew to full individuals.  So, maybe that could work for something Vorcha-like or Hanar-like?

There is a procedure in the plant world for a seed to reproduce without ovules. It's known as parthenocarpy. It's how you get seedless watermelons.

Now, they can't make seeds. But this is sci-fi, a way could be made.

Ok, how about the all male race be like this one particular type of snail that reproduce by shooting darts at each other. Who ever gets shot first gets pregnant :D

They could copy how some fish do it with a group being all one gender and the largest turning into the opposite gender for breeding purposes only. I forget what the fish was called and it probably wouldn't make much sense if its all male and one female unless I suppose the male that turns female lays large clusters of eggs that need to be fertilized by many males. The plant idea someone tossed around was also pretty interesting too. As long as it's not a copy and paste of the Asari and they get creative with it I actually think an all male race could be interesting.

Though personally I'd prefer to see new races that aren't as humanoid looking, heck one of my favorite races based on looks alone in ME is Elcor. Less human looking just happens to be more interesting to me personally.

Well if BW doesn't give us an all male, sexy race of strippers maybe we can get some buff Asari.
