Of all the ridiculous things...

Some particular gems include:
-They used a survey PEOPLE COULD TAKE MULTIPLE TIMES as justification for firing her
-Her oh-so unreasonable expectations included recruits being able to run 3 miles in less than 23 minutes, perform 3 consecutive pullups, and perform on the same level as their male counterparts
-She was fired despite significantly improving the collective performance of the battalion while in charge

Discuss.

Isn't it the job of the officer's to be mean so you can you know... not get killed in active combat? I'm pretty sure the enemy isn't going to kill them with hugs and kisses.

...

-They used a survey PEOPLE COULD TAKE MULTIPLE TIMES as justification for firing her

If anyone is supposed to get fired at all, it's whoever thought the above was anything but distilled stupidity. This is plain begging for falsly inflated reports. Which may actually have been the purpose, all things considered (which is doubly as sad, but eh, happens all the time).

-Her oh-so unreasonable expectations included recruits being able to run 3 miles in less than 23 minutes, perform 3 consecutive pullups, and perform on the same level as their male counterparts

3 miles in <23 minutes isn't exactly body torture, neither are three consecutive pull ups. You could argue that holding women to the same standard as men isn't realistic given the evident biological differences, but that's hardly a relevant argument when the aforementioned examples are the standards she tried to meet as those aren't even remotely near the biological peak performance of a healthy, trained male person.

-She was fired despite significantly improving the collective performance of the battalion while in charge

And this right here just shows that what she did worked. This is either a group of pansy recruits that wanted special treatment for being female (Since when did bullets discriminate their lethalty based on sex? Anyone going for the military should always strive to be at peak condition because what ultimately matters is not getting killed when deployed and optimum performance is the best way any individual can go about that!), or a group of hardcore conservative top echolons just wanting to discredit females (i.e.: that commanding officer) in the military ... or a combination of both. Because everything else makes zero sense when what she did evidently worked out.

Well, as someone trying to get into the USMC, I'm not sure I'll be happy if I get into a platoon filled with females like that. DIs are going to be total dicks to push you.

Oh well, guess at this rate the feminazis will cause the next wars will be waged on Facebook via PMs, cause soldiers will be in too poor shape to do anything.

Unlucky for them the officer herself was female, so they couldn't just go and claim she had raped them or touched them in a bad way and the officer would've been fired in an instant. Cause we all know women don't rape and can't rape. :P

Sometimes I feel like America wants their females to be Damsels in distress instead of being who they want to be.

A likely outcome if you insist on getting your drill sergeant ''relieved from duty.''

Based on this article, it seems like many want to be the damsels themselves, reap all the benefits while not having to be anywhere near the dragon nor needing to show gratitude towards the knight.

She's shown she doesn't deserve to be in command of those women, she was ruining them as men have ruined (and still are ruining) their recruits with hazing and psychological violence.

The whole damsel in distress business is why I facepalm at certain films, video games, and literature. After you see it happen like 50 times, you go "really?" Everyone has the right to be who they want to be though, regardless of sex, gender, race, or class.

If you read the article, there's a bit more to this than the OP, particularly the abuse/shaming. Of course, I don't know how normal that is in the military.

What an outrage. Who ever heard of an officer in charge of recruits being mean?

Discuss? Third wave feminism in a nutshell. Strong independent women, until they're expected to do something they don't like ... Then that's just oppression.

Clearly she internalised my misogyny.

Yeah, I'm sure when the enemy captures them, they'll be interrogated with sock puppets and a feather duster. I'm sure the interrogator will ask them if they'd like to be woken up with a cup of tea and bicy in the mornings too.

And that's why they volunteered for the Marines instead of State Guard?

But seriously, IDC about people, well woman for the most part, being "damsels in distress" in stories, however. I don't know why, for some reason, out of all the **** that happens in a story that's so unlikely, I don't get why this one specific thing is something that must be picked out to be prejudice or untasteful. There are tons of other tropes that get slammed on a daily basis. There's also the fact that a lot of women love the idea of it still.

There are two answers to your nonsense here

1) You don't know what you're talking about, it's the most probable.

2) You know what you're talking about, that makes you a selfish bastard that should coherently risk his ass twice for every soldier that has been mentally tortured or abused during the military training.

How exactly are soldiers supposed to become prepared for combat without ever being taken out of their comfort zone?

Yes, people abuse their command, it happens everywhere. The fact that someone isn't kissing ass and giving you rainbow-tinted glasses doesn't mean they are however. Being yelled at, something that's happened since a lot of people have left the womb, hardly compares to being tortured. Only stupidity and ignorance says that it is.
