We were fighting our way through the Alerai and reached the room right before you find Tali's father. We camped out on the upper level and the fight started out fine. Then the geth started getting to the top of the stairs and I went down. So I reloaded right before the room. We took cover and the moment the door opened to let the geth in Tali and I placed a combat drone and Garrus used area warp. All three geth went down. That's when it got weird. We were teleported to her father and the cut scene began. Once the scene ended we were still in the hall where he was. Then the geth started spawn right next to us! With two area warps it wasn't bad until the big guys showed up. Luckily the AI programming wasn't expecting that so they kept going into the room we were supposed to be in, which saved us. We had two drones in that room and when the door closed we could catch our breath while the drones zapped them. Then we another wave appeared, or we opened the doors if there wasn't one, we could zap them with area overload. It was a much easier battle than the first. I don't know how many times I've played ME2 but I have put over 1000 hours into the series. That was the first time I'd seen that happen.

Interesting.

Drones are completely wonky in ME2. They will stop new waves spawning sometimes. Sometimes they will cause a new wave to spawn before it was supposed to. Basically, a drone counts as Shepard, so if the drone is somewhere in the level that has an effect on dialogue or enemy spawns, then the game thinks Shepard is there. Last time I was on Lazarus Station the bloody drone made it impossible to progress. I had to reload.
