Maybe the land Humans came from is still out there. The whole Elvish story of "and then Humans showed up and we called them Shemlen" just makes me want to know where they came from, and why they don't remember it in their histories.
Though, granted, the First Blight probably wiped out a lot of recorded knowledge, given that it was basically the apocalypse for several hundred years.
