Sorry if this is in the wrong place but seemed a better fit than the other subforums. I'm very new to multi player - not just on DA:I - but In the public games I've joined no one speaks. Is that normal? I just want to say, "Oops, sorry" or "I'm coming!" but don't dare as I don't hear anyone else!

Anyway, if you did get stuck with me, I AM sorry, and I was definitely coming to help but probably got killed

In pugs very few people speak. Im not sure if its due to issues with different headsets not working, or nobody cares. My problem is the earlier. But if you get to a place where pugs arent working anymore for you find a good group in the lfg section and you will probably get more discussions.

yeah not many talk on the ps4    but to get a friend invite from me its required      you dont have to be great  just talk about anything        I dislike the people whom you can hear them breathing and playing and their background but will only say commands  every few screens

I'm just the opposite to xsvTOYZ...I'm not in a PUG to enjoy scintillating conversation. Or much of any conversation. At all. Now, I don't mind the occasional informational tidbit like "mage door over here" or "get the nug!" But those people who have to keep the whole group "entertained" with nonstop babble will find a quick route to a mute (hey, I rhymed! woohoo!) 

 

Different strokes and all, but yeah. The less talk, the better. Seriously.

Well,.. I don't talk much as well. But I should do it a bit more in pugs. Like telling people not to open the treasure rooms while the rest is engaged in combat, or telling what kind of treasure room door there is instead of calling everyone with F4. etc etc.

do as you like but if you dont talk how can you decide if they should be in your group?  last thing you want as part of your game group is a heavy breather. what build you have? why? did you try? hey this weeks event is                

so yeah its better than the grunts and clangs

Yeah, see that's precisely the sort of thing that would drive me nuts (and most likely result in me dropping the group.)  If I responded at all, it would be "Nunya dambidniss" what my build is, or why, or anything else. A pickup group is just that...a pick-up...you make do with what you have, you roll the dice and you either succeed or you don't. If a match is that crucial, I'll arrange to pull in a few IRL buddies and we'll run a private match that way (and for the record, I have yet for there to be any public match be that crucial. Ever.)

 

Maybe I'm just an extremely anti-social SOB. But that's the way it is.

I mean it's a grinder of a game. I like to watch TV or youtube when playing for 12 hr straight. Hard to talk for 12 hour straight so, I tbh just mute ppl most of the time. Made friends with some people who runs real well without voice convo and we play with each other in silence. Don't need to speak to know you can tango well together.

But do agree stargeezer, when NM first came out, voice communication was important to extraction. Now most ppl know to play legionare or have hakkon weapon, can run NM just fine without talking.

Nothing new here... Overall people dont use shity in game voice chats.
If they would have added something crazy as a Text Chat and an option to add the people  you play with to friends  you would have seen alot more life every game, instead of playing with 3 Bot partners that sometimes use "4" to try and let others know if they want them to come / want them to continue / want them to stop / want them to play the guessing game.

I am sorry if i am hostile but everytime i think about it i am getting pissed, and i really hope that at least on ME4 they will finally do this crazy move and add those options to the multiplayer part of the game so it will feel like 99.9% of the other multiplayer games i played in the past 10+ years.

wow it seems people here are a little biased 

its simple I get tons of people who say its nice to hear someone use the mic       the people who dont chat are  usually the weak players who dont chat because they want to be annonymous and come here to cry so we cant hear the tears in their voice

    text chat is a really lame excuse   I dont and 99% of the players on ps4 and xbox dont have a  keyboard nor when it takes 2 hands to play do you want to read and type   get real! 

if you really just want to play alone you have single player and if you're offended I asked what build you are running maybe you're awesome or maybe you really suck and maybe it is none of my business but if you help then everyone gets better and we have more fun     

no one says you have to chat and I get invites when I do and dont have a mic (more when I do) but prefer to be able to ask hey wanna go nightmare after this?  would you mind not aggroing everything when its obvious you (and not me) are seriously  outclassed by this level?   hey are you done with shopping or do we need to vote you out since we have been waiting 5 minutes in a ready state and there are no ready up noises 

I turn the game noises way down   the character base is more woman to men and they all make male noises   I think Ill name the Templar Caitlyn Jenner  kinda sound like him/her when it fights

I don't use chat as I play PuGs and have no desire to chat with random people, plus I have a wife and kids who I am often having conversations with. Also 80s music. Lots of 80s music. All the time 80s music. And I sing along. My thing, but surely would annoy others.
