Item drops from chests threshold?

I was told elsewhere that with regards to the loot system, for example, the more chests you open the better loot you can expect to receive from them. Or in another way the more items you loot the better they will start dropping.

Obviously I'm extremely skeptical about this from having played many games with RNG based loot systems but there was a lot of support for the above idea that I saw. Wondering if I can get some clarification here on whether it's nonsense and I continue maintaining my shrine to RNGesus or if there is some truth to this Item/Chest threshold scheme.

It's true.

10000 items is the current % cap.

Well I'll be damned. That is pretty sweet.

Is there anyway to tell or figure out how far along you are now?

If the 10K item number is true then you'd have to spend about 240K gold on chests if you'd get items exclusively from store bought chests. Obviously you'll also get items from free victory chests and from treasure room chests so you'll probably reach the 10K mark well before you spent 240K on chests. You can check your total gold earned under one of the challenge tabs, the "wealth" challenge tracks it.

I've been finding Perilous has dropped incredible loot this weekend, joined a game in progress, spawned in to receive an instant purple item, turned out to be Staff of the Dragon!  Also it's random to the extent that I opened 15 chests back to back and dropped only lower level Purples and runes.  Today I dropped Skywatcher's Cleaver from 3 chests ! :)   Best thing to do is keep grinding and build the different armours and that way you are increasing your percentage of getting better gear.

Crafting armours increases your chance of better gear? Is that because they count to the item threshold?

A blue or purple item has a chance to be armour so if you have already maxed out your armour sets then you'll get other items instead.

Working on a way to show this to the Players in the future so you know what level you're at. Right now level 20 (currently the max) is 10,000 as was mentioned.

Amazing, thanks for the confirmation. Would be prying too much to ask if you have a vague timeline on when that might get implemented?:3

Err I think there was a miscalculation in the above statements, if 10k is the max, at approximately 240 gold per item, you would need to spend 2.4mil to hit cap lol.

But it isn't 240 gold per item, it was 240,000 needed to reach the 10,000 item cap. That's 240 thousand gold spent on (I assume) large chests.

I would still maintain that shrine. Max loot score does not save you from RNGesus's disfavor  :crying:

The question is; do potions count as loot?

Each 1200 chest has 10 items. So you would need 1000 chests for 10000 items. 10000 x1200 gold = 1.2M
2.4M if it doesn't count potions.
But you also get items from treasure rooms so this will significantly change.

240 gold per item, x 10,000 items, gives you 2.4m gold required.

Is that really how much gold that's needed to have the best odds? If so, than that sucks. I'll never get that much, and I play a fair bit. Still at 700k.

Just thought about it and realized that the 2.4 mil does not include free chests and items gained in matches, so the actual number is probably much lower. Guess I'll just wait until we can see the actual number.

Loot from treasure rooms also counts.
This does not require completions either.
I reckon you would avg 2 items per run when in full team.
As for myself; 1.2M spent, 750 completed runs 1500 failed runs so 2250 runs x 2 = 4500 loot just from treasure rooms. Even if it were only 1.3 items per run that's still 3k. I do know my item score is very high as I often get multi purple in 1 chest and have 95% bis

2,400,000 roughly

EDIT: I say 'roughly' because it depends how many items you have gotten from treasure chests.  I have been playing 6 months so it adds up.

You're missing an order of magnitude (a zero at the end). At the current rate of bigger chests, it costs 240 gold per item. 10k or 1e4 items has four zeros, thus it'll cost 240 x 1e4 = 2.4 x 1e6 = 2.4 million gold, assuming you wish to reach the 10k item mark on store chest alone.
