Hi guys, so I just found out that I could port my PS3 save on to PS4's multiplayer and as of this weekend I have been back in a big way on Multiplayer.  Thankfully we have other bosses in rotation again as of tonight!  I fancy running Perilous solo, but don't want to waste my time wiping constantly, could use some advice from an expert or two out there!

I am open to suggestions on build, but normally when levelled I run Payback Strike with a Rare ring equipped to enhance it.  Purple Heal on kill ring, Purple ranged defense belt, Dwarven Proving Shield and my weapon is the Firm Tournament Axe.  My other abilities tend to be Walking Fortress, To the Death and Shield Wall.

I also recently discovered the new available classes, I tried the Avvar and he is a monster from Level 1!  I was fortune this weekend to drop Virtuoso Armor, Staff of the Dragon, Maul of the Dragon, Skywatcher's Cleaver (So OP it's insane!)x2ulut.jpg , Purple belt of Ranged Defense and Purple ring of Armor Penetration.  I wonder, I also have the purple Staggering ring, which would be recommended?

Thus far I have promoted 10 Legionnaires, 6 Mages and 5 Rogues.  I can join a threatening game as a Level 1 Legionnaire with only Block and Payback Strike and I can hold my own even through Round 5 without going down.

I am looking forward to hopefully making friends with some skilled players on PS4, I have a mic and my main passion has been Destiny of late... :)  Looking forward to hearing from you peeps :)

Do you have the 200 HP belt? If yes, use that instead. Take both guard passives, they increase your guard to 125% of your max health now. Either PBS or Unbowed can recover you from knockdown. Take the HoK ring and perhaps a crit ring if you have it. Anything that can increase your crit chance for Flow of Battle will help.

The new changes to armor and guard should make soloing perilous with the Lego a lot easier than it used to be.

Ok thanks man, I have had real shitty luck with belts, purple ring-wise all I have are : Heal, Armor Penetration, Barrier Penetration, Staggering, I also have 2 purple Amulets : Constitution and Magic.  By guard passives, I assume you mean the final few in the Guardian Tree ie; Untouchable Defense and Bulwark...?  On a positive in the last 48 hours I have dropped 4 Level 24 Purple weapons!! :)

With what Cirvante said, 200 health belt (if you can get it) extra cunning, heal on kill (don't need much with Lego), Caliban if you have that as well

That is a really easy build, easy to survive and takes a lot to mess up with it. Make sure you use shield wall for attack cancels and blocking. it would be usefull to have a stamina amulet for the blocking

Quite a lot depends here on enemy faction and in less way on map.

Easiest to solo for lego should be red templars, you should watch out mostly for shadows and remember to be always front to enemies. With armor passives, guard passives and damage reduction passives damage should be very low, if not just 1 damage from anything pretty much.

With venatori it also should be easy on normal waves, still mages would be annyoing to kill but Venatori commander could be challenging. She hits hard with fire spells, so pretty much passives and armor does not help with that at all and has huge health + barrier for what you lack dps.

Demons should be something average hard to solo. Wraith damage is low but Rage demon and fire wraith could with burn deal quite heavy damage. Main problem would be Despair Demon. Key is to approach her fast with some knockdown, but ice mine + barrier can make it annoying.

Remember to take potions - rock armor, fire / spirit resistance (depends on faction).

It's worth mentioning that in general physical damage shouldn't be a problem for you. Front defense is huge + recent armor change made Lego with 2 armor passive pretty much on the level of lego before change with rock armor potion up. Main threat is elemental damage, depending on build you choose, this is priority for block/walking fortress.

Okay I actually managed it 1st attempt,

I chose Orlesian Chateau, so I had nice straight corridoors, no elevated archer positions or annoying Dragon whizzing round frying me.

:)

I guess I had the necessary gear and promotions to do it.

Used Payback Strike, Block, upgraded Walking Fortress and the upgraded Taunt thing that makes you invincible as long as you taunt the boss and keep mashing him/her...

You're overgeared for Perilous. Go play NM. Use line of sight, and preferably use my Castle King build for NM FC Dragon farming for Hakkon weapons.

Notes about mechanics that benefit the Legionnaire:

Turn the Bolt grants 50% Ranged Defense to non-flanking attacks. Bear Mauls the Wolves neutralizes flanking. I am still testing how BMtW affects the Front Defense mechanics for shields and Turn the Blade, but those may also be based on the "non-flanking" mechanic as well. (It's for a video I'm doing) Aside from that, Turn the Blade cuts all incoming damage at your front down by half when combined with a shield's stock 30% Front Defense. That applies to Ranged, Melee, and Magic.

By taking both Adamant and Trust the Steel, using your shield and the best armour for the Legionnaire with at least a tiny bit of Guard, you will have 301 armour up front, 264 armour everywhere else. Even on perilous this will greatly reduce a ton of physical damage. Just remember that magic ignores armour, meaning Venatori or (worse) Demons can be deceptively difficult.

EDIT: Although most of that stuff is background numbers anyway. It looks like you made it through just fine! Congrats!

I know it is not ultra popular but I simply can't play the lego or the templar without shield bash.  Between that and payback strike you can really keep mooks off you even if you don't have to.  Just a game style preference.

Yeah I need to give Lego another chance with the buffs and my relatively recent 200HP belt.

Actually, Shield Bash is ultra popular... Especially on the Legionnaire.

With the new changes the Lego and Templar actually feel like tanks. Nigh unkillable even on Nightmare, yet low damage output.

Except to Guard... I was running some tests on Perilous solo... Hitting with Shield Bash against a Pride Demon for 8k damage. Sadly otherwise it takes forever to kill enemies though, even on Perilous.

I had a NM game earlier today where everyone landed in the fade, leaving my combo-less Templar to solo the rest of FC Zone 3 against Red Templars. Three shadows couldn't take me down at the same time, but it took forever to kill all the enemies. At that point you're probably better off suiciding and starting a new run.

I will give a chance to your CK build.Right now I am using WF,TTD,PBS and SB for the nightmare and it is pretty good, but I do miss Counterstrike in some critical moments.

Looking at your gear you'd be much better off taking any of the 2H wielding classes into perilous. The Katari and Avvar in combination with a high HoK weapon like the Skywatchers Cleaver or the Maul of the dragon wreck everything.

For the legionnaire on Perilous i mostly advice anyone to go with the flying attack dwarf build. Especially with the recent armour buff you should be capable ot handling most stuff attacking you. If you're going into nightmare then you might want to go with more defensive skills, but for perilous an all out attack dwarf like the one linked below should work. Not sure how it works without high HoK items though, as i use it with either the Caliban or Longsword of the dragon.

I love CS man, the cooldown has finally been reduced from 60 seconds to 45, it's a lot nicer now.

You won't miss PBS when you're absolutely invincible most of the time. The problem is getting enough points to get all those abilities, but once you're there... Don't you know who you are? You're the juggernaught (*&#$!

Seriously though, taunt everything --> WF shortly after, be invincible all the time, LoS to cluster enemies, allies finish off enemies that are both taunted off them and now clustered into formation for easy killing.\

TTD any high health targets. Everything goes down faster.

With the new changes the Lego and Templar actually feel like tanks. Nigh unkillable even on Nightmare, yet low damage output.

So I decided to give this a whirl.  The last time I tried was in April IIRC, gear and promote situation was completely different for me.  At that time I was in teens for most stats except maybe 20 for Willpower.  Gear was Moon Axe, Dwarven Proving, Superb Cunning Amulet, Superb Ranged Defense Belt, Enhanced Crit Chance, and I had Superb HOK ring (one of the first decent things I got actually).  No mods on armor, had a frost rune on the axe.

Today: Caliban (+12% Crit Chance grip, Superb Lightning), Dwarven Proving, Superb Cunning Amulet, Superb Health Belt, Superb HOK, Superb Crit Chance, +health, +healing armor mods, and stats are 24/61/44.  Was Level 17 with TTD, WF+, CS, SB (this build).  Rolled Red Templars and pretty much rolled through.  The tower shield guys in the first wave were a little annoying, as I hadn't really played this guy w/o SW in a while and usually I just use it to block/stun them, so I had to come up with something different (SB or CS and some sidestepping).  One Wave 2 near the beginning I did manage to get Unyielding activated with a Knight / Horror combo.  For 5, Samson was the first up, which was convenient for TTD.  I used the face tanking strategy, and since the rest of the units decided to mob me, my cds were fast and it was amusing how quickly I dealt w/ Samson.  Mopping up the mooks took longer.

Having a lot better gear, crit chance and the armor / guard changes made this drastically different for me than when I tried before.  Does feel a little weird to me w/o shield wall though, and I can't seem to animation cancel with shift nearly as fast as with SW.  In the prepatch version of the game, the only character I completed perilous solos with was the AW, but the run I just did with Lego seemed like it was easier than the AW solo I did yesterday.
